Netflix viewers distraught after shock removal announcement of 'one of the best shows ever released'

Netflix is set to remove one of its most popular foreign shows this month and fans aren't happy about it. The French comedy-drama Call My Agent! will officially depart the streaming service on July 22. The beloved series depicts a group of talent agents at a Paris-based agency - focusing on their relationships with their actor clients, who are played by real-life celebrities. Some of the celebrity stars have included Juliette Binoche, Sigourney Weaver, and Isabelle Huppert. Call My Agent! was an instant hit when it premiered on French television in late 2015, but it didn't become a global sensation until the Covid pandemic. Viewers soon named it one of the best Netflix shows of all time, with the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman counting themselves as loyal fans of the series. 'It's a love letter to the business, to the relationships between actors, artists,' Weaver told Variety. 'It goes behind the scenes to show the problems of actors in dealing with different directors and mood scenes, cosmetic surgery and all these situations that come up in a very humorous way that no other show does,' she continued. 'And it has a lot of affection for the business and for the job of being an agent. The agents in the series are very passionate about their clients. It's very inspiring.' A British version was released in 2022 titled Ten Percent, but was canceled after one season. Other international versions came from Turkey, South Korea, India, Italy, Indonesia, and more. The fourth and final season of Call My Agent! was released in 2020, but a fifth season and a feature-length film were both announced back in 2021. Fans have been distraught since news of Call My Agent! exiting Netflix was announced, with many taking to social media to express their disappointment. 'Ummm… why is Call My Agent leaving Netflix?! 'We're still waiting for the fifth season and 90-minute film that we were promised in 2021,' wrote one. 'Oh no! I enjoyed re-watching this every year on Netflix,' wrote a second. The popular series depicts a group of talent agents at a Paris-based agency and their relationships with their actor clients, who are played by real-life celebrities It comes after Netflix dumped a huge amount of popular shows and movies throughout the month of June. Batman Begins (2005) was cut, as well as its sequels The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Children's favorites including Alvinnn!!! And The Chipmunks and Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom also left the streamer. Meanwhile, horror fans had to say goodbye to Cult of Chucky and Ma.

The Balenciaga portion of that doesn't seem to be too seismic – 4 per cent according to Kering – which is a saving grace considering what has come before; a 2023 controversy that almost destroyed the house. First of all, a campaign featuring children holding teddy bears in leather bondage gear. Weird, but not unexpected in Balenciagaland. Then the truly mind boggling follow up; a campaign featuring Isabelle Huppert and some product placed amongst some seemingly innocuous objects. Except on closer inspection – via ever-present social media sleuths – one stack of documents were Supreme Court rulings on child pornography, and another featured a diploma with a name that happens to also be that of a convicted abuser. The result was a Balenciaga bomb going off at the heart of the Kering conglomerate, with celebrity denouncements from avid fans like Kim Kardashian, who said on her Instagram stories and on Twitter that she was 'shaken' by the images, and subsequent apologies from the house. Then CEO Cédric Charbit said at the time; 'I want to personally reiterate my sincere apologies for the offence caused and take my responsibility.' The statement pointed out that a third party prop's company supplied the materials on the shoot in question. In March this year, it was announced that Demna Gvasalia would be leaving Balenciaga. His destination, however, was a curveball; Kering choppering him into Gucci, its spangly jewel in the crown, a house of hi falutin glamour and those distinctive double G branded bags. Granted, Demna knows how to create buzz with logomania – although how much design nous it takes to emblazon your brand name across everything and anything is debatable – but Gucci's signature sense of seduction, throughout all of its iterations from Tom Ford to Alessandro Michele, isn't something Demna's dark arts dabble in. His is a deliberately jarring, quirky-ugly aesthetic that doesn't seem to tally with what Gucci stands for. Time will tell whether the house that once sold us must-have bags and defined the 1990s (and early 2020s) fashion is ready for a darkly turbulent aesthetic. Granted, Balenciaga couture can make some exceptionally beautiful clothes – as exhibited on the Cannes red carpet by Balenciaga ambassador Isabelle Huppert – but that's the rarity rather than the rule. Balenciaga is set to be taken over by Pier Paolo Piccioli, an Italian designer known for his sense of romance and feminine exuberance.

Cannes: 15 of the most unforgettable looks, from Pedro Pascal to Rihanna

Organisers of this year's Cannes Festival cast a conservative shadow over the red carpet with the release of a new dress code noting that, 'for decency reasons, nudity is prohibited.' The rule was seen as an attempt to tamp down on so-called naked dressing, a trend that in recent years has inspired more people to wear less coverage as a way to get attention. Whether it stopped people from showing skin was debatable. But it certainly didn't stop stars from making waves with their appearances. Some, like actor Jeremy Strong, took Cannes as an opportunity to test colour palettes: He wore a range of pastels (purple, green, salmon) that would rival the selection at an Easter egg hunt. Others, like model Bella Hadid, used the festival to debut new hair (she went blond). Of all the clothes on display at Cannes, which on ended Saturday, these 15 looks were some of the most memorable for a myriad of reasons – nakedness mostly not among them. Isabelle Huppert Flips the Script With Backward Denim Jacket at Cannes Film Festival 2025

Isabelle Huppert gave the Canadian tuxedo an avant-garde twist for Monday's red carpet of 'Highest 2 Lowest' at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The French star sported a denim set by Balenciaga, featuring a light-washed denim jacket worn backward and paired with a long denim skirt. Styled by Jonathan Huguet, Huppert's look also featured distressed elements and a decorative jeweled brooch on the front, as well as sunglasses by Balenciaga. The actress has been a house ambassador for the Spanish brand since 2021. Celine Dion famously wore a backward blazer by John Galliano for the 1999 Oscars. Huppert has a long history with the Cannes Film Festival, both as an acclaimed actress and a style icon. She first appeared at Cannes in the 1970s and quickly became a fixture, starring in films that have competed at the festival more than 20 times. In 2009, she made history as the first female actor to serve as president of the Cannes jury, after previously being a jury member in 1984. In 2025, Huppert was welcomed at the festival as the star of 'La Femme La Plus Riche Du Monde' ('The Richest Woman in the World'), which is inspired by Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers, heir to the L'Oréal fortune. For the premiere of the movie on Sunday, Huppert wore a custom Balenciaga green dress and De Beers jewelry. Hupper also attended the 2025 Kering Women in Motion Awards and Cannes Film Festival Presidential Dinner on Sunday, wearing a black dress from Balenciaga's winter 2025 collection.
