Netflix fans have days to watch 'best show ever written' before it leaves platform
It has a huge fan following Netflix fans have just days to watch the 'best show ever written' before it leaves the platform. Sci-fi thriller Lost, is considered one of the biggest television series ever made. For some time now, fans have been able to rediscover the title or binge it for the first time thanks to its inclusion in the major streamer's library. However, as long time subscribers will be all too aware of, Netflix's offering is always changing. While this usually means exciting new additions, it also means titles no longer being made available. This is often due to agreements expiring between production companies and studios. In the most recent case, all seasons of Lost are set to be removed from Netflix on August 14. This is the case for every region around the globe with the exception for the US. It is reported that users stateside will be able to stream episodes until 2026. So if fans want to be binge all six seasons of Lost on Netflix, they have a limited time to do it. UK users do have alternative options however, as at the time of writing the show is currently available to watch for free on ITVX. However, of course streaming on the broadcaster's platform means that viewers will be forced to watch alongside advertisement breaks. That's not all though as Lost's run of 121 episodes is also available on Disney+. Users will need a premium subscription for that option though. It could be a viable option for those who want to experience what many consider as one of the best shows ever made. While it is full of mystery, twists and turns, the show's synopsis states it follows "the survivors of a plane crash who find themselves stranded on a mysterious island. They are forced to work together for their survival when they realise that they are not alone on the island." Overall the show boasts an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Empire magazine listed it as the 13th best show of all time out of 100. It was co-created by Star Wars director J. J. Abrams, filmmaker Damon Lindelof who went on to make The Leftovers and Watchmen plus screenwriter Jeffrey Lieber. Fans are still just as vocal with their praise of the show. One sharing their thoughts online simply posted: "One of the best shows of all time. Very rewatchable" Another added: "One of the most mysterious, magical shows ever presented. nearly every episode came up with new, often mind blowing, twist that left me totally transfixed and begging for more. I hated seeing it end." Someone else commented: "Lost is an absolutely amazing series right from the beginning to end. It is like a perfect blend of of sci-fi and supernatural thriller. There's not even a single episode which is not thrilling or engaging. It was really atmospheric to watch this especially at nights. A true thriller, a real mystery masterpiece." Meanwhile, one person said: "I love it!! I've seen a lot of TV shows but this one is different. I think is one of the best shows ever written."

Matt Shakman addresses Star Trek 4: ‘It changed dramatically'
Director Matt Shakman has revealed the fourth Star Trek movie had 'changed dramatically' before he exited the project in August 2022. The 49-year-old filmmaker was due to helm the next instalment in the Star Trek franchise, though had left the movie by the summer of 2022 due to scheduling conflicts with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Now, Shakman has revealed that his Star Trek movie was already in pre-production before he parted ways with the project. He explained to Variety: 'We had stages, we had crew, we were moving ahead.' However, Shakman admitted that plans for the fourth Star Trek movie had shifted significantly: the crew were let go, the stages were removed and the film 'didn't have a start date anymore'. Meanwhile, good progress on The Fantastic Four: First Steps was being made, and so Shakman dropped out of Star Trek to focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster. While the director refused to give any details on what his Star Trek movie would have looked like, Shakman teased the main concept of the film hadn't been changed to his knowledge. He said: 'The core idea, I think, remains the same. I really hope they get a chance to make that movie.' Shakman was announced as the director for the fourth Star Trek film back in 2021, and the movie would have seen the return of Chris Pine's Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto's Spock. While updates on the next Star Trek movie have been slow, Paramount Pictures has confirmed the project is still in development, though has not announced a release date for the film yet. Despite its development difficulties, the cast is still keen to return for another Star Trek movie. Zoe Saldana - who portrayed Nyota Uhura from 2009's Star Trek to 2016's Star Trek Beyond - said she would be 'grateful' if she were given the chance to make another Star Trek film. The 47-year-old actress told 'I just heard they're gearing up to do a new one with a younger, sort of, take on it ... I don't know if it's from the before or the after, but that they really still hope to grab all of us veterans and bring us back for one last round. 'Listen, I know it's a lot to wrangle a whole bunch of people with busy schedules. But working with [director] J.J. Abrams, and for J.J. Abrams at Bad Robot, was always just a wonderful and beautiful experience for me. So, if I get to do that one last time, I would be so grateful.' Meanwhile, Simon Pegg - who played Scotty in the Star Trek trilogy - said he would want to appear in a fourth Star Trek movie, though insisted the film would be 'forever tainted' by the untimely death of Pavel Chekov actor Anton Yelchin, who passed away at the age of 27 in June 2016 following a car accident. Appearing on Katee Sackhoff's podcast The Sackhoff Show, the Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning star said: 'I'd love to do more. Obviously it's been forever tainted because we lost Anton, and that was a really hard thing for everyone involved, and for the real world, let alone anything else. 'If we do come back, if there is another opportunity to come back, then I'd love to. Because as we were saying earlier on, it's a group of guys that I dearly, dearly love and don't get to see very often. It would be good to get back together with them.'

HBO Max cancels ‘Duster' after one season despite praise for J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan series
HBO Max has cancelled Duster after just one season, less than a week after the season finale aired. The 1970s crime drama was created by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, reuniting Abrams with Lost star Josh Holloway, who led the series alongside Rachel Hilson. The show followed Nina, the first Black female FBI agent, played by Hilson, who heads to the Southwest in 1972 and recruits Holloway's character, a gutsy getaway driver, to help take down a rising crime syndicate. Despite positive reception, Duster did not generate enough viewership to secure renewal, although it maintained a strong critical score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 83% audience rating. In a statement, HBO Max said, 'While HBO Max will not be moving forward with a second season of Duster, we are so grateful to have had the chance to work with the amazingly talented co-creators J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, and our partners at Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television.' Warner Bros. Television added, 'J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan delivered a thrilling, multi-dimensional crime drama in Duster, with textured characters that took the audience back to the 1970s in a new and innovative way.' The cancellation sparked disappointment among viewers, with many taking to social media to express frustration that the series ended so soon despite its strong reviews. Some fans called it a 'massive blow' and criticised the lack of promotion, while others praised the show's 1970s setting and characters, wishing it had been given more time to build an audience.

'Duster' starring Josh Holloway has been cancelled; the creators pull the plug for not getting enough numbers
'Duster' series starring Josh Holloway , Rachel Hilson, Keith David , and more, has been cancelled after airing its first season. While the show received great ratings overall, it reportedly failed to conquer its audience. The official statement... The Warner Bros. Television stated, 'J.J. Josh Holloway had to struggle... Josh Hollyway, who plays a driver working for an Arizona crime syndicate, patiently waited for seven years to have the 'star' role after many false hopes and disheartening starts. He had recalled to the media outlet of not have work, and asked his agents to bring him some work just to get out of the house. 'Just hard — nothing was coming through. I had to focus on my family. I learned piano. I did all sorts of different things,' the 55-year-old said. However, the call from the producer for the role had changed his life. Furthermore, he said that the crips that his agents brought were not always the good ones, so he had to pass on. When J.J. Abrams called Holloway for the role of a wheel man of the mafia in 1972, he recalled having a Jerry Maguire moment of 'You had me at Hello!'
