Paul Kelly Revives John F. Kennedy Jr.'s Suited Bike Look for Ryan Murphy's ‘American Love Story'
Paul Kelly was spotted in New York City on Monday on the set of Ryan Murphy's forthcoming FX series 'American Love Story' in costume as John F. Kennedy Jr. The actor portrays the son of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the show, alongside Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. On the set of the series, Kelly was seen wearing a navy suit with a coordinated tie and a collared white button-down dress shirt with brown dress shoes and a white pocket square. Along with the suited look, Kelly was photographed wearing sunglasses and a black hat. Kennedy Jr. seen in Manhattan in suits riding his bike. Known for his sleek, tailored looks, the images are an iconic extension of the New York City fixture and district attorney. 'When JFK Jr. was younger, in the '80s and '90s, there was kind of an effortlessness to his wardrobe — like he could wear anything, and sex appeal would always be there,' designer and newly minted Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson told WWD. Dag Granath, cofounder of Stockholm-based tailoring brand Saman Amel, has also noted how JFK Jr.'s legacy extends to today, referencing the prominent Kennedy family member as 'one of the historic figures within politics that clients might reference.' The '80s and '90s in particular made JFK Jr. a style icon. Murphy's iteration of Kennedy and Bessette-Kennedy's story, however, already received scrutiny from fans for costuming choices and representing the tailored '90s fashion for which both late figures were so well known. 'John quickly became a trendsetter in young boys' fashion, usurping the spot formerly held by Prince Charles, heir to the British throne. Mothers across the country took their young boys to barbers and insisted on the 'John-John,'' wrote Steven M. JFK Jr.'s nephew slams new Ryan Murphy series American Love Story: ‘For those wondering if his family was consulted…'
Ryan Murphy's upcoming series American Love Story may be bringing the romance and tragedy of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette to the screen but not everyone is applauding the move. In fact, a key member of the Kennedy family has spoken out against it. The series, part of Murphy's larger American Story anthology, casts newcomer Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette. It will chronicle their whirlwind romance in the 1990s, their glamorous wedding in 1996, and their tragic deaths in a 1999 plane crash off Martha's Vineyard. JFK Jr. was 38 while Carolyn was 33. A post shared by Ryan Murphy Productions (@ryanmurphyproductions) Now in a public statement, JFK Jr.'s nephew, Jack Schlossberg, took to Instagram to set the record straight about the family's involvement, or lack thereof. 'Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man,' Schlossberg said in a video posted to his Instagram Stories on June 19. 'For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with, the new shows being made about him, the answer is no. And there's really not much we can do.' Schlossberg, the 32-year-old son of JFK Jr.'s sister, Caroline Kennedy, explained that legally, the family has little control over the show: 'The right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image and likeness, doesn't survive death in the state of New York. For that matter, he's considered a public figure, so there's not much we can do.' A post shared by Jack Schlossberg (@jackuno) Still, he urged the creators to approach the project with sensitivity and respect for his uncle's legacy. 'I hope those making these shows about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it. And that they donate some of the profits [that] they're making,' he added. And while he clarified that he's not against public admiration of JFK Jr., he drew the line at exploitation. 'For the record, I think admiration for my Uncle John is great. What I don't think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way,' he concluded. American Love Story is the latest installment in Murphy's anthology universe, which includes American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and American Sports Story. The new series will also feature Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy, Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Sydney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette, and Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein. A release date has not yet been announced.

Ryan Murphy has his work cut out for him. The 'American Horror Story' creator, 59, took to Instagram over the weekend to share a first look at the actors portraying John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in his upcoming 'American Love Story' anthology series. 'Here are some stills from our LOVE STORY camera test,' Murphy wrote on Saturday, June 14. 'We started shooting this week in New York City and can't wait until you see the romantic and tragic love story between America's prince, JFK Jr., and fashion icon Carolyn Bessette.' Love is blooming this Valentine's Day on FX. The inaugural season of Ryan Murphy's new anthology American Love Story will premiere next February, Murphy announced on Instagram on Friday. In fact, Season 1 of Love Story — focusing on the ill-fated romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette — will debut during the week of Valentine's Day, although a specific date and time have not been announced. CNN Loses Appeal In Legal Battle With Journalist Suing For Unfair Dismissal & Discrimination
CNN has failed to quash a lawsuit from former international correspondent Saima Mohsin, who is suing the network over unfair dismissal and disability discrimination allegations. CNN lost in its appeal to the London Employment Appeal Tribunal, where it attempted to throw out Mohsin's case on territorial grounds, arguing that her employment contract meant that the UK tribunal did not have jurisdiction over her claims. CNN was approached for comment. Mohsin, who now works as an anchor for Sky News, claims that she was wrongly fired by CNN after being injured on assignment in Israel in 2014. Her cameraman ran over her foot, causing tissue damage and chronic pain, meaning she uses a walking stick and is unable to work full-time. The incident also led to a mental health breakdown and Mohsin suffers from depression. She claims that CNN terminated her contract in 2017 after she requested alternative duties and support during rehab. Mohsin said: 'Having fired me for asking for my rights as a disabled journalist, injured on assignment for them, CNN is now dragging me through the courts at great expense and distress, instead of making amends. I am determined not to give up because this is a matter of principle. As a journalist I have always been committed to exposing injustice, I'm now doing this for myself and my colleagues. I hope the industry will learn from this.' Deadline understands that Mohsin has repeatedly indicated her willingness to settle outside of legal proceedings, but CNN has so far declined to do so.
