Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu visits ailing former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren
New Delhi [India], June 26 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu visited the ailing former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shibu Soren, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Thursday.
President Murmu met his son, and Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, and enquired about Shibu Soren's health.
President of India's X handle stated, 'President Droupadi Murmu visited the ailing former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Shibu Soren, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. She met Shri Soren's son and Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Hemant Soren, and enquired about Shri Shibu Soren's health.'
Shibu Soren, who was serving as the president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, was elected as the 'Founder Patron' of the party in the 13th 'Mahaadhiveshan' of JMM in April this year. Hemant Soren was elected as the new party president.
Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Sir Ganga Ram Cancer Centre in New Delhi and interacted with patients.

On Tuesday, President Murmu met Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi as a courtesy call. During the meeting, the Governor updated the President on the ongoing development projects in Sikkim and the public-focused initiatives being led by Raj Bhavan.
He also presented the President with a book titled 'Utkarsh Yatra,' which highlights the key programs, initiatives, and outreach activities undertaken by the Governor during his first six months in office. (ANI)

The title, symbolising a righteous ruler and upholder of dharma, was conferred on PM Modi. Speaking on receiving the award, PM Modi said, "On this occasion, you honoured me with the title of 'Dharma Chakravarti'. I do not consider myself suitable for this. But it is our culture that whatever we receive from saints, we accept it as 'prasad'. So, I humbly accept this 'prasad' and dedicate it to Maa Bharati'." The centenary celebrations mark the beginning of a year-long national tribute to the revered saint and scholar, organised jointly by the Union ministry of culture and the Bhagwan Mahaveer Ahimsa Bharti Trust. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, 'Today, we are all witnessing a significant occasion in India's spiritual tradition. This centenary celebration of Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj, filled with the devotion of his countless followers, has created an extraordinary atmosphere that is truly inspiring for all of us.' According to ANI, the event was also attended by Union culture and tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rashtrasant Paramparacharya Pragyasagar Muniraj, alongside other dignitaries, parliamentarians, and Jain acharyas. "This day is also special because on 28th June 1987, Acharya Vidyanand Muniraj received the title of 'Acharya'. It wasn't just an honour but it was also a 'pavitra dhaara' connecting the Jain culture to ideas, restraint and compassion. PM Modi also visited a specially curated exhibition titled 'Life and Legacy of Acharya Shri 108 Vidyanand Ji Maharaj', which showcased murals, paintings, and rare archival material chronicling the saint's contributions. PM Modi hailed the renowned Jain saint as 'Yug Purush' and 'Yug Drashta'. He said, 'I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience his spiritual aura in person. He gave me his guidance from time to time. I always had his blessings. Today, from this stage of his centenary celebrations, I can feel his love and closeness." Born in 1925 in Shedbal, Belagavi (Karnataka), Vidyanand became one of the most respected Jain monks of modern India. According to news agency PTI, he memorised over 8,000 Jain Agamic verses and authored more than 50 influential works, including Jain Darshan, Anekantvad, and Mokshmarg Darshan. He lived a life of extreme austerity, walked barefoot across the country, and promoted spiritual egalitarianism and inter-sect harmony. His historical contributions include designing the official Jain Flag and Emblem during the 2500th Nirvana Mahotsav of Bhagwan Mahavir in 1975. The five-colour flag and the Ahimsa hand symbol are now universally accepted across Jain traditions. He was also pivotal in identifying Basokund in Bihar as Bhagwan Mahavir's birthplace — a finding recognised by the Indian government in 1956. The centenary year will be observed until April 22, 2026, through nationwide cultural, literary, educational, and spiritual programmes. As per the Culture Ministry, it will include temple outreach, interfaith dialogues, youth engagement, and Jain heritage awareness initiatives. A commemorative stamp and coin were released, alongside a biographical volume detailing saint's life.

Case against MP Congress chief Jitendra Patwari for 'bribing' man to say he was fed human excreta

(ANI/Sanjeev Gupta) According to police, the villager alleged in an affidavit that some Congress leaders took him to meet Jitendra Patwari, who then insisted the villager make allegations of being fed human excreta by the Mungaoli village sarpanch, and bribed him to do so. On June 25, Jitendra Patwari posted a video of himself sitting with two men, who were alleging that they were fed human excreta. Targeting the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government, Patwari tweeted the over 8-minute clip with the caption, "Prime Minister Ji, @BJP4MP The jungle rule of power is crossing the limits of anarchy! A youth from the Lodhi community had "human excreta" stuffed in his mouth just because he asked for a "ration slip"!" Jitendra Patwari's tweet(X) Patwari further named BJP MLA Brijendra Yadav and said his supporters were behind the alleged incident. In the clip Patwari shared, the two men were seen crying, alleging they tried to file an FIR but the cops refused. "Why does #BJP consider Dalits, backward classes, and tribals as its enemies in Madhya Pradesh?" Patwari wrote, referencing an old incident from 2023 in which a tribal labourer who was urinated upon by another man. Patwari slammed chief minister Mohan Yadav, criticising the law and order in the state. However, according to Madhya Pradesh Police, the allegations of being fed human excreta turned out to be false as they were made on Jitu Patwari's demand. "Later, he (the villager) said that the allegations about this were false, and he made this allegation on Jitu Patwari's demand... Based on this, a case has been filed against Jitu Patwari and his aides under various sections of BNS," news agency ANI quoted SP Vineet Kumar Jain as saying. Reacting to the case filed against him, Jitendra Patwari said he would continue to raise his voice for the oppressed. "The opposition should fulfil its responsibility when there are atrocities on the farmers, Dalits and the government should take it positively and take action. Jagannath Rath Yatra: AI-based CCTVs Enhance Security, Traffic Management In Puri
Puri (Odisha): The Puri district administration has deployed Al-based CCTV cameras to monitor the festivities and ensure security, surveillance, including traffic management during the Ratha Yatra 2025. Speaking on the matter, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Dayal Gangwar, highlighted the significance of this technology in maintaining order and safety of devotees coming from cities, including Bhubaneswar and Konark. Mr Gangwar informed that the AI-powered CCTV cameras are playing a crucial role in assisting with surveillance and security. "Yesterday, devotees followed the traffic restrictions and traffic regulation plan, and the same will remain in place today. We request everyone to cooperate with us in this... The arrangements made yesterday for devotees coming from Bhubaneswar and Konark will remain the same today... We request everyone to adhere to our restrictions... All rituals related to the Rath Yatra are being conducted as per schedule amid heightened security arrangements, with coordinated efforts from multiple security forces and district authorities. Speaking to ANI about the arrangements, Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Swain said, "...The yatra route is full of devotees. All rituals related to the Rath Yatra will be conducted on time. Police have been deployed since last night. This time, NDRF has also been deployed... Yesterday, we removed illegal 6-7 drones. Flying of drones over Shri Jagannath Temple and the Gundicha temple is not allowed." A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been stationed in Puri as a precautionary measure due to the high footfall and scale of the event. NDRF Deputy Commandant Naveen Rana said, "Our personnel are trained to handle all situations, including any medical emergency, structure collapse or any other. We had conducted four mock drills along with the District Administration here." The yatra drew lakhs of devotees, many of whom had travelled from different parts of the country and abroad to to witness the grand chariots of the three deities, Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and sister goddess Subhadra, at the Gundicha temple, where the deities reside for a week and then return to Jagannath temple. Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended a heartfelt welcome to devotees on the occasion of the annual Rath Yatra, urging them to participate with utmost faith and his message, CM Majhi said, "Join the Rath Yatra with faith and devotion, witness the divine glimpse of Mahaprabhu atop the chariot, and receive His blessings."
