Emergency was not a political event but a direct betrayal of the Indian Constitution, says Pawan Kalyan

Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan said that India marked the 50th anniversary of the imposition of Emergency on June 25, 1975 — a period widely regarded as one of the darkest chapters in the country's democratic history. Across the country, political leaders, civil society groups, and citizens observed ''Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' to remember the suspension of Constitutional rights and to pay tribute to those who resisted the authoritarian crackdown. In a post on X on Wednesday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said declaring that the Emergency was not merely a political event but a direct betrayal of the Indian Constitution, several leaders recalled how civil liberties were trampled upon, the press was muzzled, and fundamental rights were suspended under the then Congress regime led by Indira Gandhi. Prominent Opposition leaders of the time — including Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L. K. Advani, George Fernandes, and Morarji Desai — were imprisoned for voicing dissent and defending democracy. As we mark 50 years of this constitutional betrayal, we observe 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' to remember the sacrifices of those who stood fearlessly against dictatorship and upheld the dignity of our democracy. 'Let us remember the sacrifices made by the Leader who stood against oppression, as well as the anguish of millions whose voices were silenced. Even today, we must guard against any attempt to compromise our Constitution in the name of politics,' he added.

Ahead of local body polls, Jana Sena puts special focus on north Andhra districts

Jana Sena Party (JSP) seems to be putting special focus on North Andhra districts such as Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Parvatipuram-Manyam to gear up the party for next local body elections. JSP general secretary and MLC Konidela Nagababu's recent visit and his interaction with leaders of all the districts assumed significance. He held a review meeting in a resort located near Bhogapuram and sought their suggestions for the strengthening of the party in all villages and mandals of the regions. The party won Bhogapuram and Palakonda Assembly seats in the 2024 general elections. It also got a few nominated posts after the formation of the government. The party is hopeful that it would get a sufficient number of ZPTC and MPTC seats in future although it was given only two Assembly seats in the general elections. Nellimarla MLA Lokam Madhavi, JSP leaders Avanapu Vikram, Avanapu Bhavana, Gurana Ayyalu, Babu Paluru and others from Vizianagaram briefed the party's position in various places of the district to who in turn suggested them to identify right persons and provide training while explaining policies of JSP. Srikakulam Urban Development Authority Chairman Korikana Ravikumar, JSP Srikakulam district president Pisini Chandramohan, JSP-Etcherla in-charge S. Vishwakasen and others also had separate interaction with and explained the recent party activities in various constituencies. The leaders expressed satisfaction over the review meeting and hoped the party would get further impetus whenever local body elections are held in the State. Mr. Nagababu reportedly suggested concentrating on public issues and bringing them to the notice of the officials and the party high command for the follow up action at Amaravati. He said that JSP president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's clean image had become a big asset for the party and it would be easy for the leaders to take steps to improve the network in all corners of three districts.

Pawan Kalyan reaches Madurai to attend Murugan Devotees' conference as chief guest

Deputy Chief Minister and JSP chief K. Pawan Kalyan arrived in Madurai on Sunday (June 22) to participate in the Muruga Bhaktargal Maanaadu (Conference of Murugan Devotees), marking a significant cultural and political moment in the southern region. Mr. Pawan Kalyan received a grand welcome at the Madurai airport from senior BJP Tamil Nadu leaders, including State president Nainar Nagendran, party observer Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and other prominent functionaries. His visit underscores growing collaboration between BJP and JSP, especially as both parties work to strengthen their base across southern India. Mr. Pawan Kalyan will offer prayers at the historic Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, one of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan. Following the darshan, he will take part in the Murugan devotees' conference as the chief guest, addressing spiritual leaders, devotees and attendees from across Tamil Nadu and beyond. Among those who welcomed Pawan Kalyan were BJP State vice-president Chakravarthy, State leader Amar Prasad Reddy, BJP Madurai district president Mari Chakravarthy, State general secretary Ram Srinivasan and veteran leader Radhakrishnan, according to a press release. The event holds political significance, with Mr. Pawan Kalyan's participation seen as a gesture of cultural outreach and solidarity with Tamil spiritual traditions. Political analysts view the visit as part of a broader strategy to enhance the BJP-JSP alliance's presence in Tamil Nadu, where cultural reverence and political messaging often go hand in hand.

Prashant Kishor will be CM face of Jan Suraaj in Bihar assembly elections, says party

PATNA: Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) national president and former Purnea MP Uday Singh alias Pappu Singh on Thursday revealed that Prashant Kishor would be the chief ministerial candidate of the party in the upcoming Bihar assembly election. Kishor is the founder of JSP. JSP's national president's statement is in contrast of Kishor's stand on the issue as the latter has repeatedly said that he was not in the race for the CM's post. It has to be seen how Kishor responds to his party chief's statement as the former is currently on 'Bihar Badalo Yatra', ahead of the assembly elections. Singh claimed that a wave of change was sweeping entire Bihar, and it could also be felt easily, adding that people from different villages were joining JSP. 'People are posing faith in the leadership of Kishor', he said, adding JSP was more a movement aimed at reforming society than a political party. He alleged that all political parties were only interested in power, as the state's deplorable condition was also due to it. Singh also attacked Bihar chief minister and JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar by claiming that migration from the state had not stopped despite the JD (U) leader being at the helm for the last 20 years.
