Pawan Kalyan reaches Madurai to attend Murugan Devotees' conference as chief guest
Deputy Chief Minister and JSP chief K. Pawan Kalyan arrived in Madurai on Sunday (June 22) to participate in the Muruga Bhaktargal Maanaadu (Conference of Murugan Devotees), marking a significant cultural and political moment in the southern region.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan received a grand welcome at the Madurai airport from senior BJP Tamil Nadu leaders, including State president Nainar Nagendran, party observer Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and other prominent functionaries. His visit underscores growing collaboration between BJP and JSP, especially as both parties work to strengthen their base across southern India.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan will offer prayers at the historic Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, one of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan. Following the darshan, he will take part in the Murugan devotees' conference as the chief guest, addressing spiritual leaders, devotees and attendees from across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
Among those who welcomed Pawan Kalyan were BJP State vice-president Chakravarthy, State leader Amar Prasad Reddy, BJP Madurai district president Mari Chakravarthy, State general secretary Ram Srinivasan and veteran leader Radhakrishnan, according to a press release.
The event holds political significance, with Mr. Pawan Kalyan's participation seen as a gesture of cultural outreach and solidarity with Tamil spiritual traditions. Political analysts view the visit as part of a broader strategy to enhance the BJP-JSP alliance's presence in Tamil Nadu, where cultural reverence and political messaging often go hand in hand.

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that the flawed policies and complicated tax system under the BJP govt has brought about an economic and social emergency for traders. AAP hits the streets over slum demolition drives, threatens mass agitation
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched the 'Ghar Rozgar Bachao Andolan (Save homes, jobs movement)' at Jantar Mantar with a protest against the ongoing demolition drives in slum clusters in the city. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal accused the ruling BJP of betraying slum dwellers and urged Delhi's 40 lakh slum dwellers not to fall for 'Modi ki guarantee' again. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makaan (Where there's a jhuggi, there will be a house)' before the Delhi Assembly election, but delivered the opposite. 'What he really meant was 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Maidan (Where there is a jhuggi, there will be barren land)'. They've thrown the poor into boiling oil and left them to die,' he said, calling the Prime Minister's guarantees 'fake and hollow'. Mr. Kejriwal also said the BJP government would not complete its five-year term if they continue to demolish slums. Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai warned the BJP that the poor will occupy the 'Prime Minister's residence if slums are demolished without providing alternative housing', adding that there would be mass agitation if the demolition drives don't stop. Hitting back, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, 'The call for an attack on the Prime Minister's residence has once again brought to light the dark and Naxalite-like faces of [Arvind] Kejriwal and Gopal Rai and they must understand that there is no place for their words in a civilised society.' Mr. Sachdeva claimed that the BJP government is 'committed to giving better lives to slum dwellers', who were 'compelled to live in bad conditions' along drains and railway tracks in the city. 'New homes, new lives' 'Just as we have resettled slum dwellers from Kalkaji, Jailorwala Bagh, Kalandar Colony, and Kathputli Colony. We will continue to provide new homes and new lives to people,' the city BJP chief said.

Lucknow: The BJP Lucknow Mahanagar unit under its chief Anand Dwivedi organised three key events at the booth level on Sunday. Senior leaders, including Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma, BJP state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla and others participated. The 123rd episode of PM Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' was streamed live across booths. Party workers also paid floral tributes to Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his Balidan Diwas by garlanding his portrait and offering prayers. A plantation drive titled 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' was also launched.
