Elite Wide Receiver Kaydon Finley Commits To Notre Dame
Elite Wide Receiver Kaydon Finley Commits To Notre Dame originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Notre Dame has landed one of its most important commitments in the 2026 cycle with Texas wide receiver Kaydon Finley pledging to the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame beat out Texas and Texas A&M among many others to land this Aledo (Texas) High School standout. Advertisement Finley has been a priority target for Notre Dame throughout the 2026 recruiting cycle. Landing a top receiver in the 2026 class was incredibly important for Notre Dame, who identified Finley as a must-get player very early on. Landing him has been a battle against Texas, but in the end receivers coach Mike Brown and the Irish staff got the job done. Listed at 6-1 and 200 pounds, Finley has the size to play either outside or the slot. He's a strong athlete that can make plays after the catch and he has enough speed to make plays down the field. Finley is an advanced route runner with an excellent feel for the game and his ball skills are top notch. He could thrive in the slot in a role similar to Jaden Greathouse, but I like how his route running, ball skills and athletic talent project outside even more. He plays all over the field for Aledo, dominating from the inside and outside. That versatility gives Finley a chance to push for playing time at all three receiver positions in the Irish offense. Join the Notre Dame Champions Lounge for the latest intel and analysis of the Fighting Irish! As a junior, Finley was dominant for an Aledo squad that went 12-2 and advanced to the state semifinals. Finley finished his junior season with 81 catches for 1,432 yards (17.7 yards per catch) and 21 touchdowns. He was outstanding in the postseason, racking up 25 catches for 429 yards (17.2 YPC) and seven touchdowns. Finley finished his junior season with nine games of 100 receiving yards or more and he had seven games with multiple touchdown receptions. Advertisement Finley is ranked as a Top 100 recruit on the Irish Breakdown board and he earned a 4.5-star upside grade (Top 75 caliber recruit). He is ranked as the nation's No. 93 overall player by Rivals. The Aledo standout earned offers from the Irish, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Auburn, Ole Miss, Missouri, Louisville, TCU, UCLA, Arkansas, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Colorado, Stanford and California. Finley is the 23rd player to commit to Notre Dame. He joins Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Texas running backs Javian Osborne, Georgia running back Jonaz Walton, Faison and Frazier at wide receiver, Kansas tight end Ian Premer, Ohio tight end Preston Fryzel, Pennsylvania offensive linemen Tyler Merrill and Grayson McKeogh, Michigan offensive linemen Ben Nichols, Gregory Patrick and Sullivan Garvin, Connecticut offensive lineman Charlie Thom, North Carolina ends Ebenezer Ewetade and Rodney Dunham, Texas defensive tackle Tiki Hola, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., Ohio linebacker Jakobe Clapper, Pennsylvania defensive back Joey O'Brien Florida cornerback Ayden Pouncey, Maryland cornerback Khary Adams and Tennessee cornerback Chaston Smith. CBS Sports Names Malachi Fields As Notre Dame's Top Portal Addition
CBS Sports Names Malachi Fields As Notre Dame's Top Portal Addition originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For the second season in a row, Notre Dame has elected to dip into the transfer portal to find their boundary receiver. Last season, Clemson transfer Beaux Collins came to South Bend for his final season of eligibility and started all 16 games for the Irish at the 'X receiver' position. He was a quality player who logged 41 receptions, 490 receiving yards, averaged 12.0 yards per catch and hauled in three touchdowns. Advertisement Collins was the team's leading receiver until Jaden Greathouse exploded in the CFP Semifinals and the national title game. This season, Notre Dame and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock needed an impact playmaker at the boundary position and when Cavaliers receiver Malachi Fields entered his name in the portal, it became a no brainer for both parties where the Virginia native should spend his final year of eligibility. "Jaden Greathouse showed some signs as a go-to receiver in the national championship game. But Notre Dame lacked a true WR1 last season and hasn't had a wide receiver clear the 600-yard barrier since 2021. Fields should end that streak. A favorite of personnel departments across the country in the portal this winter, Fields combined for 1,619 yards and 10 TDs over the last two seasons. He's a big vertical field stretcher at 6-feet-4, 220 pounds and is a presence defenses will have to shade coverage toward. That's a dangerous thing when you consider how good Notre Dame's run game projects to be this year." - Chris Hummer, CBS Sports In back to back seasons, Fields logged over 50 receptions, 800 yards, averaged 14.0 yards per catch and hauled in five touchdowns in both 2023 and 2024. In what was considered a dormant offense, Fields was their lone bright spot. His fit at Notre Dame is coming at the perfect time, given Greathouse's breakout in the post season along with a talented returning offensive line and a bump in quarterback passing ability. At 6-4 223 pounds, Fields gives Notre Dame a presence in the boundary it has been lacking since the 2019 season when Chase Claypool was the go-to receiver. His play style and body type resemble Miles Boykins from the 2018 season, a year where he finished with 59 receptions, 872 yards, averaged 14.8 YPC and had eight touchdowns in 13 games. Fields adds a much needed boost in size, experience and production to this Irish receiving corps, and provides a star power element they have been lacking at the position for quite some time. Greathouse showed flashes throughout last season and is expected to be a go-to player once again this year for Denbrock, but the addition of Fields completely changes the narrative. Advertisement Notre Dame hasn't had a dynamic one-two punch at receiver in quite some time, and this will, by far, be the best one-two punch at wide receiver in the Marcus Freeman era. Combine Fields and Greathouse's potential of being a dynamic duo with 6-7 250 pound tight end Eli Raridon and an explosive run game featuring Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, this Fighting Irish offense will likely put up some serious numbers this season. Watch Jaden Greathouse and Eli Raridon throw out the first pitch for South Bend Cubs
Watch Jaden Greathouse and Eli Raridon throw out the first pitch for South Bend Cubs The list of Notre Dame football players getting the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game grew on Tuesday, as Jaden Greathouse and Eli Raridon accomplished the feat for the South Bend Cubs. The minor league affiliate for the Chicago Cubs invited the two Irish stars to partake in the pregame festivities, as Greathouse went first, throwing a solid strike. Raridon went next, and while he didn't throw it with nearly as much pace as his teammate, it was still a solid pitch. Head coach Marcus Freeman has thrown out first pitches for the Chicago White Sox, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. Just a few weeks ago linebacker Drayk Bowen threw the first pitch at a White Sox game as part of his Name, Image, and Likeness deal with the club. Former Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet did the same last year for the Cubs, and Rylie Mills also threw one for the White Sox last summer. It's an opportunity that many don't get, but plenty of Irish stars have gotten the chance.

National analyst believes that Notre Dame's Jaden Greathouse will soon be a household name
The hype building around Notre Dame football wide receiver Jaden Greathouse is continuing after an impressive finish to the 2024-25 season. The rising junior finished his season with two consecutive 100-yard receiving games with three scores, showing his gamebreaking ability when the Irish needed it the most. On3's J.D. Pickell believes that Greathouse just scratched the surface in the final two College Football Playoff games, and thinks that big things are head for the Notre Dame receiver. Advertisement He said that the Irish will have a much different passing game this fall, as he expects that CJ Carr will be the starting quarterback which will help the vertical threats, and Greathouse will be one of the biggest benefactors. Pickell says that 'he's a matchup problem when he's a slot,' as he believes the coaching staff play him more from that position. 'Nationally, college football fans will know who Jaden Greathouse is by the end of the year,' is how he concluded his thoughts. It's hard to disagree with how Pickell sees the Notre Dame offense going this fall, as we all believe the passing game will take a step forward with whoever is starting at quarterback, Carr or Kenny Minchey.
