Watch Jaden Greathouse and Eli Raridon throw out the first pitch for South Bend Cubs
The list of Notre Dame football players getting the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game grew on Tuesday, as Jaden Greathouse and Eli Raridon accomplished the feat for the South Bend Cubs.
The minor league affiliate for the Chicago Cubs invited the two Irish stars to partake in the pregame festivities, as Greathouse went first, throwing a solid strike. Raridon went next, and while he didn't throw it with nearly as much pace as his teammate, it was still a solid pitch.
Head coach Marcus Freeman has thrown out first pitches for the Chicago White Sox, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. Just a few weeks ago linebacker Drayk Bowen threw the first pitch at a White Sox game as part of his Name, Image, and Likeness deal with the club.
Former Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet did the same last year for the Cubs, and Rylie Mills also threw one for the White Sox last summer. It's an opportunity that many don't get, but plenty of Irish stars have gotten the chance.

If Schrauth and Wagner play up to the Outland standard, they'll both be in the mix for the award and others as well. Notre Dame great Skylar Diggins continues to make history in the WNBA, cementing her legacy within the league. After recording the first triple-double in WNBA All-Star Game history on July 19, the Seattle Storm guard hit the record books again on Monday when she recorded a triple-double in just three quarters, as the Storm defeated the Connecticut Sun 101-85. Diggins's two free throws at the end of the third quarter gave her 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 22:51 of action, the lowest minute total for a triple-double in WNBA history. She also became just the second player in Storm history to record a triple-double, joining Temeka Johnson (2014). The Fighting Irish legend is the fourth player in the league to record a triple-double this season, and it was the 46th in WNBA history. Andy Staples names Notre Dame's Mike Denbrock as one of the nation's top OC's
We saw the impact that offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock had in his first season with Notre Dame last fall, helping guide them all the way to the College Football Playoff championship game. Now that the majority of the returning players have a year of knowing the offense under their belts, there is plenty of potential that the Irish could have a sleeping giant on offense. On3's Andy Staples sees that it very well could be the case, and named Denbrock as his No. 2 offensive coordinator in the game behind only Oregon's Will Stein. Denbrock had the Notre Dame offense humming last fall, scoring 36.1 points-per-game, which was good for No. 8 nationally. The Irish averaged just short of 400 yards-per-game, with impeccable balance, as both the rushing and passing yards were right about at 200-per contest. This coming season will be a much different task, as Notre Dame is still deciding on which quarterback, CJ Carr or Kenny Minchey, will lead the offense this fall. Denbrock will have his work cut out for him, but if he can replicate the success that the Irish had on offense last year, he'll be worth every penny.
