Expelled From RJD, Tej Pratap To Contest Bihar Elections Independently
Patna: Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, who was recently expelled from the RJD by his father and founding president Lalu Prasad, has announced that he would contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections from Mahua seat in Vaishali district as an Independent candidate. He is currently the MLA of Hasanpur seat in Samastipur district. Speaking to reporters at his residence here on Saturday evening, he said, "Yes, this time, I will contest the elections from Mahua assembly seat as an Independent candidate. My opponents must have started to feel an itch." "I have people's support... a large number of people are now connected with my 'Team Tej Pratap Yadav', a social media platform to reach out to people," he added. He further claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would not retain his post after the assembly polls. "I am confident that 'chacha' (Nitish) will not become the CM... those who would form the government, if they talk about youths, employment, education, and health, Tej Pratap Yadav will stand with them," he said. The former Bihar minister was expelled from the party on May 25 by his father Lalu Prasad for six years. He was expelled a day after he reportedly confessed on social media to being "in a relationship" with a woman named Anushka. He, however, later deleted the Facebook post with a claim that his page was "hacked". Lalu Prasad also disowned Tej Pratap due to his "irresponsible behaviour". A few days after his expulsion from the party, Tej Pratap had alleged that there was a "conspiracy" to drive a wedge between him and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav. He had voiced his sentiments in a couple of posts on his X handle, blaming the crisis on 'Jaichand', a metaphor for traitors. His expulsion came barely a few months ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, which the RJD will fight under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav. Born to Prasad and Rabri Devi, both former chief ministers of Bihar, the two brothers are among four of nine siblings active in politics. Tej Pratap Yadav had made his political debut in the assembly polls of 2015, and is a second-term MLA with two brief stints in the state cabinet.

Tejashwi Yadav Slams Nitish Kumar Over Muzaffarpur Rape Case
Patna: Bihar Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his government on Monday over the Muzaffarpur rape case and medical negligence at PMCH that led to the death of a 10-year-old Dalit girl. Speaking to the media, Tejashwi Yadav said, "Whether it's law and order, healthcare, education, or employment, this double-engine government has failed completely. The Chief Minister has never expressed regret on any such issue. I doubt if he even knows about this brutal rape case." Tejashwi Yadav strongly criticised the Chief Minister and his two deputies for allegedly being preoccupied with political events and election preparations, saying they were ignoring public grievances and justice. "Criminals are dominant in Bihar. Bullets are being fired near the Secretariat and even outside the Chief Minister's residence. There is no law and order left in Bihar," Yadav added, pointing to recent violent crimes across the state. On the victim's death, Yadav claimed the child was left in an ambulance for over four hours without treatment at PMCH, which he described as an inexcusable administrative failure. "No one from the government met the victim's family. This shows the insensitivity of the ruling alliance," he said. When asked about his brother Tej Pratap Yadav's controversy and comments involving the term "Jaichand," Tejashwi said the matter has been handled by RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav, and he would not comment on personal issues. On Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's statement criticising the NDA's focus on optics over substance, Yadav said, "He has only spoken the truth. Airports are being inaugurated, PM Modi did the road show, but martyr families are being ignored. Crimes against children are happening, yet no one in the government speaks out about it." "Who Doesn't Know Jaichand": BJP Uses Tej Pratap's Post To Slam Lalu Yadav
New Delhi: The BJP in Bihar has latched on to Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son Tej Pratap's "Jaichand" posts to target the RJD patriarch as the tempo for the Bihar Assembly election rises. The BJP Bihar handle on X first posted a teaser that there is discussion about "Jaichand" these days and assured they would reply who "Jaichand" is. A 12th-century king of Gahadavala dynasty, Jaichand was portrayed in epic poem Prithviraj Raso as a traitor who allied with foreign powers against Prithivraj Chauhan. The term 'Jaichand' has now become synonymous with traitor. In a post addressed to father Lalu Prasad and mother Rabri Devi, Tej Pratap yesterday posted on X that he just wanted his parents' love and trust. He also said some "greedy people like Jaichand" were playing politics with him. Lalu Prasad has expelled Tej Pratap from the party for six years amid the chatter over a now-deleted Facebook post. In another post, Tej Pratap warned his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav, of "Jaichands" everywhere and said they were trying to separate the brothers. He assured his brother that he was always with him. Latching on to the posts, Bihar BJP today accused the RJD founder of betraying Jayaprakash Narayan, who led the agitation against the Emergency and former Bihar Chief Minister and socialist ideologue Karpoori Thakur. "Who doesn't know Bihar's Jaichand who betrayed JP and Karpoori Thakur ji and held Congress's hand. Do we need to say, or do you get it?" "Who doesn't know Bihar's Jaichand who cheated leaders of the socialist revolution and pushed Bihar to ruin?" Bihar BJP added in another post. Tej Pratap was expelled over a now-deleted Facebook photograph in which he was seen with a woman. The post identified the woman as Anushka Yadav and said she and Tej Pratap were in a relationship for 12 years. "I am Tej Pratap Yadav and the girl seen with me in this picture is Anushka Yadav. We have known each other for the last 12 years and love each other deeply. We have been in a relationship throughout these years. I wanted to share this with all of you for a long time, but couldn't find the right words. Today, through this post, I am opening my heart to you. I hope you all will understand," it read. The post went viral and started a chatter, as people asked why Tej Pratap married in 2018 if he was in a relationship. The RJD leader married Aishwarya Rai, daughter of political heavyweight Chandrika Rai, in 2018. The couple separated months later and a divorce case is on. Amid this chatter, Tej Pratap claimed his profile had been hacked. "My social media platform was hacked and my photographs were edited wrongfully," he wrote on X. The damage control did not work and the next day, Lalu Yadav announced the decision to expel Tej Pratap from the party. He said "ignoring moral values" in personal life weakens the community's struggle for social justice. "The elder son's activities, public behaviour and irresponsible conduct are not in line with our family's values. In the current circumstances, I remove him from the party and the family. From now on, he will have no role in the party and the family. He has been expelled from the party for six years," he said.
