MP CM Mohan Yadav inaugurates water conservation works worth over Rs 1,518 crore in Khandwa
Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 30 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in the closing ceremony of Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan held in Khandwa district on Monday and laid the foundation stone and inaugurated water conservation works worth over Rs 1,518 crore in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, CM Yadav announced that Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan will continue in a new form. The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign has been launched across the state. From June 30 to August 15, the plantation will be done on government land, followed by private land from August 15 to September 15. He further said that a new scheme has been launched to promote greenery and horticulture under which 30,000 women will receive Rs 3 lakh each to develop orchards on one acre of land. The grant, given in three annual installments, will cover plantation, fencing, irrigation, and related works. In three years, 30,000 acres of land will be transformed with greenery and it will cost Rs 900 crore to the state. The CM also inaugurated 57,207 works in panchayats under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department worth Rs 578 crore, and 888 water conservation structures across the state under the Watershed Development Component. Additionally, he dedicated four irrigation projects, including the Jawar Micro Irrigation Project in Khandwa, and 74 renovated water structures. CM Yadav, stating regarding the major outcomes of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, informed that 140 major drains flowing into 57 rivers were identified, 91 watershed projects developed across 36 districts, 9,000 water structures constructed for irrigation, Four irrigation projects launched in Khandwa, Maximum temperature in Nimar region dropped by 4C due to various interventions and Irrigation area in the state to increase from 55 lakh hectares to 100 lakh hectares in the coming years. CM Dr. Yadav also informed that Bundelkhand will be benefited from the Ken-Betwa Link, Malwa-Chambal from the PKC Project, and Nimar from the Tapi Mega Recharge Project. He added that Madhya Pradesh is the Birth-Place of rivers, with about 300 rivers originating here, enriching neighboring states. Rivers like Narmada, Chambal, Sone, and Tapti sustain other rivers and even seas. Under the Abhiyan, ghats were renovated, especially along the sacred Narmada, the only river that is circumambulated. CM announces new horticulture initiatives, praises water campaign
Indore: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday praised the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, a water conservation campaign, which commenced from Gudi Padwa on March 30 and concluded on June 30 in Madhya Pradesh. The campaign concluded in Khandwa, that saw construction of over 1.29 lakh water structures, making it the top district in the country for groundwater conservation. While addressing the gathering, the CM said that the campaign became a public movement, leading to various innovations in water source conservation across all districts. Under the MGNREGA scheme, new farm ponds, Amrit Sarovars and well recharge pits were constructed, and water structures were renovated. Yadav announced that Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan would now continue in a new form, under the name 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. From June 30 to August 15, tree plantation drives will be conducted on govt land with the support of the Horticulture Department. Following this, from August 15 to September 15, plantation efforts will extend to private lands. To encourage greenery and horticulture, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department has devised a new scheme, providing Rs 3 lakh assistance to 30,000 women across the state to develop orchards on one acre of land. This assistance will be provided in three phases annually for plantation, fencing, irrigation facilities and other necessary works. This initiative aims to develop 'Ek Bagia Maa Ke Naam' on 30,000 acres across the state over the next three years, increasing fruit production and greenery with a total state expenditure of Rs 900 crore. He said that 2.39 lakh 'Jal Dooth' (water ambassadors) contributed to water source conservation, becoming the campaign's torch-bearers. A total of 38,000 new farm ponds were created. In Khandwa district, over 1 lakh wells were recharged at a cost of Rs 254 crore, earning the district the first position nationally in this effort. He declared that the Indore is now number one in both cleanliness and water conservation. The CM highlighted that over 140 large drains meeting more than 57 rivers have been identified under the campaign. Ninety-one watershed projects have been developed in 36 districts of the state, and 9,000 water structures have been prepared for agricultural irrigation. During the event, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 1,568 crore. He also inaugurated the Jawer Micro Irrigation Project and three other irrigation projects in Khandwa district, along with 74 renovated water structures across the state. A new software for monitoring and management of watershed projects was also launched. Yadav announced an allocation of Rs 174 crore for the construction of Khandwa bypass and other roads. He said that due to various initiatives, the maximum temperature in Nimad decreased by four degrees. He projected that the state's irrigation area would increase from 55 lakh hectares to 100 lakh hectares in the next five years, with benefits from the Ken-Betwa river interlinking project for Bundelkhand, Parvati-Kalisingh-Chambal (PKC) for Malwa-Chambal and Tapi Mega Recharge Project for Nimad. Outstanding 'Jal Yoddhas' (water warriors) were also honoured during the event. The chief minister announced that before Simhastha 2028, Omkareshwar's Ekatma Dham would be developed along the lines of Ujjain's Mahakal Lok. He also announced that beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana will receive an additional Rs 250 as a token of auspiciousness before Raksha Bandhan. After Diwali, from Bhai Dooj, Ladli Behnas will receive Rs 1,500 per month. The state govt aims to fulfil its commitment by depositing Rs 3,000 into the accounts of Ladli Behna beneficiaries by the next elections. On the occasion, the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel read a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his message, congratulated the people of Madhya Pradesh for the success of the 'Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan', driven by the hard work, dedication and faith of millions. He extended best wishes to the 'Jal Doot', women from self-help groups and farmers involved in water conservation and tree plantation. PM Modi remarked, "It is a pleasant feeling to see the 'Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan' transform into a public movement under the guidance of chief minister and his team." He also commended the organisation of the 'Watershed Conference' alongside the closing ceremony in Khandwa. He highlighted Khandwa's achievement in constructing water harvesting structures as an inspiration to others.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 30 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has renewed his appeal for water conservation as Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, which has been running for three months across the state, will conclude on Monday. The closing ceremony of the campaign will be held in Khandwa district today and Yadav will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of water conservation works worth over Rs 1,518 crore in the programme. Before leaving for Khandwa, the Chief Minister said that the campaign was held due to inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has initiated several programmes for water conservation. 'From Gudi Padwa (March 30) to June 30, we ran Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan across the state for three months with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under the campaign, I am going to Khandwa to lay the foundation stone and inauguration of various works related to water conservation worth over Rs 1518 crore,' he said. 'Khandwa district has done the best work in water conservation across the country and it has been recognised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti,' he added. He said 57,207 water conservation works done under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, worth around Rs 578 crore, will be inaugurated today. 'Additionally, 888 water conservation works done under Watershed Development Component-Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, at a cost of Rs 63.46 crore, will also be inaugurated. For Khandwa district too, various water structures, including wells, ponds, especially farm pond schemes, Amrit Sarovar schemes, will be dedicated,' the Chief Minister said. 'Awareness about water conservation has also increased across the state. The old Bawadis (stepwells) have improved. We have also given different types of awards under the campaign,' he added. Yadav also emphasised the importance of water in human life. 'No work can be done without water, neither we will be able to worship nor be able to live a day or a moment of life. Let us all come together, save water, and save lives ahead. Madhya Pradesh is home of rivers and it has its own importance. After this, we will lay more emphasis on planting trees under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' which will maintain the natural beauty of water bodies and play a life-giving role in water conservation. MP first to use hi-tech system to flag ideal spots for ponds & wells
Bhopal: Setting an example of how technology can change lives, Madhya Pradesh has become the only state to use AI, real-time data analytics and integrated satellite and mapping tools to select locations to construct waterbodies under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan — a drive under MNREGS to build waterbodies for groundwater recharge. With these scientific technological interventions, the chances of waterbodies remaining dry become negligible, said officials, adding that it will not only improve groundwater levels but also bring prosperity to rural areas. The MP initiative has been appreciated by Union govt and several states have approached MP to understand the working of these systems, they added. MP is also the first state to integrate MNREGS works with these advanced scientific tools. Ponds and wells often remained dry as they were not dug in ideal spots, lacked correct slopes, or natural water recharges, pointed out officials. Now, these approvals are linked to the Software For Identification and Planning Of Rural Infrastructure (SIPRI) — which has all topographical data, mapped to the level of khasra numbers in each village. Explaining the system, an official said that once a site for a pond or well is proposed, the khasra number is entered into the system and SIPRI determines if it will be feasible. Parameters like slope, natural water recharges, and other topographical features are shown by the software. It is only after all the parameters check out that the approval process can be further extended. SIPRI uses hundreds of sources, including revenue records, GPS, satellite images, drone surveys, a large number of govt organisations, and even private satellite imagery and data providers, to ensure real-time data. The software even analyses scientific features like lineament — a linear feature on the earth's surface, such as a fault — which are normally not identifiable, and their presence leads to ponds drying up. So far, under Jal Ganga Samvardhan, more than 81,000 farm ponds, 1,200 Amrit Sarovar ponds, and more than 1 lakh wells have been approved. All these have been approved after checking each and every topographical feature in the least possible time. "It's a question of millions and millions of litres of water, and it's related to the lives of crores of rural people. Normally, farmers who do not have access to irrigation water opt for ponds or lakes. If these lakes are functional, it will bring about changes not only in the groundwater levels but also in farm output. Thus, it will have multiple benefits, environmentally as well as in uplifting the living conditions of the people," MNREGS commissioner Avi Prasad told TOI. "We worked for several months on these technological interventions, and it has been developed inhouse. Data from numerous sources is being pulled for this purpose. It took several months to develop the system. Every waterbody approved under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan has been approved after due diligence to ensure it is as per the appropriate topography. This not only increases efficiency, but technical intervention has also reduced the time of approvals from a few days to a few minutes. Ideally, a proposal for a water body can now get technical sanction in just 15 minutes," Prasad added.

MP CM to inaugurate Kshipra Tirtha Parikrama on June 4
Bhopal, June 3 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the Kshipra Tirtha Parikrama, organised under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, at Ramghat in Ujjain, on Wednesday . On June 5, the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, the Chief Minister will offer a 351-foot-long sacred chunri to Mother Kshipra. The two-day event, dedicated to faith, culture, and water conservation, will feature the participation of thousands of devotees, saints, historians, litterateurs, and subject experts. The Kshipra Lok Sanskriti Samiti is organising the parikrama, which will include visits to ancient and historical sites, as well as religious events. The parikrama (circumambulation) will begin at Ramghat on June 4 and will cover various sites, including Narasimha Ghat, Karkraj Temple, Nanakheda, Triveni, Shani Temple, and Gurukul School. The journey will resume on June 5 with flag worship at Datt Akhara Ghat and will conclude at Ramghat in the evening. On June 5, CM Yadav will offer the sacred 'chunri' (shawl) to Mother Kshipra at Datt Akhara Ghat. The event will feature performances by the Indian Army's Symphony Band, renowned Harikatha exponent Pandit Dholibua Maharaj, and Mumbai-based bhajan singer Swasti Mehul.
