With trade official, Rockets thank Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks for their Houston years

'Both Jalen and Dillon are beloved throughout our organization,' said GM Rafael Stone. 'We're very grateful for their contributions on the court and in the community and wish them all the best.' A post shared by Houston Rockets (@houstonrockets) In statements from general manager Rafael Stone and social media posts from the team's official accounts, the Houston Rockets expressed their gratitude to both Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks for their time with the organization. Both were traded to the Phoenix Suns as part of the blockbuster trade bringing All-Star forward Kevin Durant to Houston. 'Both Jalen and Dillon are beloved throughout our organization,' said Rafael Stone, general manager of the Rockets. 'We're very grateful for their contributions on the court and in the community and wish them all the best.' Regarding Green, Stone said in Sunday's trade announcement: Jalen's basketball journey over the past four years, from entering the league as a teenager to becoming an established NBA player, played a major role in the development of our team and organization. Off the court, Jalen's kindness and commitment to teammates, coaches, and staff were important parts of our culture. On Brooks, Stone added: Dillon's impact was significant to the team's growth over the past two seasons. Every day, we asked him to lead by example with his toughness and intensity; time and again, he delivered. Green, 23, was selected by Houston at No. 2 overall in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft. He started all 307 of his games played for the Rockets, averaging 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Brooks, 29, was acquired by Houston as part of a trade with Memphis on July 8, 2023. He started all 147 of his games played for the Rockets, averaging 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Last season, both Green and Brooks were starters on a Houston team that finished 52-30 and with the No. 2 record in the Western Conference. Brooks was among the top defenders and shot nearly 40% from 3-point range, while Green was its leading scorer at 21 points per game. Jalen Brunson raises eyebrows with unexpected take on New York Knicks' coaching situation

Jalen Brunson. Image via: Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images The New York Knicks' eventful offseason has taken yet another turn. Jalen Brunson has grabbed everyone's attention following his cryptic reaction to the New York Knicks' coach hunt. While the franchise continues its search for a new head coach following the dismissal of Tom Thibodeau, NBA insiders revealed that assistant coach Rick Brunson, Jalen's father, is expected to remain on staff. The report sparked a wave of online chatter after Jalen's eyebrow-raising post lit up social media. Jalen Brunson reacts as the New York Knicks' coach search continues Despite the New York Knicks being deep into their head coaching search, with former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown emerging as the favorite, NBA insider Marc Stein reported a detail that shifted the spotlight. 'The Stein Line has learned that Rick Brunson, father of Knicks star Jalen Brunson, is expected to remain part of the Knicks' coaching staff… Same is expected for some other key holdovers from Thibodeau's staff. ' Jalen responded in signature style on X, quote-tweeting the update with a simple but loaded: 'WHAT?!' The sarcastic post instantly went viral, hinting at an inside joke rather than surprise. After all, Rick Brunson has been on the Knicks' bench since 2022, the same offseason his son signed with the team in free agency. Nearly four weeks after moving on from Tom Thibodeau, the New York Knicks appear close to naming his replacement. Former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown has now emerged as the clear frontrunner following a second face-to-face meeting with the organization. Brown, who won NBA Coach of the Year in 2022–23, has built his reputation around tough, defense-first basketball. Perhaps, the Knicks have leaned into his style in recent years. Also Read: Kevin Durant and Steve Nash revealed big issues with small guards in modern NBA games But this is still James Dolan's team, and nothing happens without his stamp. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, 'Brown... will require ultimate endorsement from Knicks owner James Dolan before he can be named Thibodeau's successor.' That second interview wasn't just a formality. SNY's Ian Begley confirmed that Dolan was present during the meeting, signaling that the decision is now firmly in the owner's hands. Regardless, the Knicks are yet to finalize their head coach, and Jalen's response just added a spark to the whole coach-hunt process. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Steelers acquire Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith while sending Minkah Fitzpatrick to Dolphins in reported trade

The Miami Dolphins have traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers after two seasons in South Beach, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Ramsey confirmed the deal in a video on X. In exchange for Ramsey, the Dolphins received five-time Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Tight end Jonnu Smith was also shipped to the Steelers in the deal, per Schefter. In addition to the players involved, the Steelers will also receive a 2027 seventh-round pick. The Dolphins are getting a 2027 fifth-round pick in return. Advertisement The transaction happened after the Dolphins publicly made it known that they were willing to trade Ramsey, a 10-year veteran. After a disastrous end to their season, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said moving Ramsey was the "best chance to help us win not only just this year but in the future as well." "Really after a couple weeks of discussions between ourselves internally and Jalen and his representation, we decided that it was probably in the best interest for all parties to move forward," Grier said. "I will say these decisions aren't done quickly and they're not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time this offseason working through this, talking through things. At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade. "We went through the process, and I just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent, that it was best to move forward, and it was best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey." In his second season with the team, Miami finished with an 8-9 record and missed the playoff for the first time in three years. Ramsey tallied 60 tackles, a sack and two interceptions for seven yards. Once he was made available, Ramsey was linked to the Los Angeles Rams, with whom he helped win the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. The FSU product spent four years in Jacksonville and LA before joining Miami in 2023. Advertisement Though Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed interest in a reunion, it was the Steelers who struck first for the veteran cornerback. The two franchises were the most involved for Ramsey, per Rapoport. The move shores up an already strong Steelers defense, and gives them another talented veteran player in what is expected to be Aaron Rodgers' final season in the NFL. With Rodgers in tow for one year, the team needs to do everything in its power to contend in 2025. Ramsey should help them accomplish that. Ramsey signed a three-year, $72 million extension in 2024 and was due to earn $24.2 million this season, per Over The Cap. With the trade, Ramsey will receive a $1.5 million raise, bringing his salary to $26.6 in 2025. The Steelers will reportedly take on all but $7 million of that deal this year. Ramsey's contract became less of a hindrance to trade after June 1, as his $25.213 million cap charge dropped by $18.468 million. Advertisement He's under team control with the Steelers through 2028. Dolphins acquire Minkah Fitzpatrick from Steelers Fitzpatrick, 28, returns to Miami after six seasons away. After being selected by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Fitzpatrick played just a season and a half with the franchise before he was traded to the Steelers during the 2019 NFL season. After a promising rookie season, Fitzpatrick was moved to nickelback to kick off his second season under then-Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. Fitzpatrick, upset about his role, requested a trade, which the Dolphins eventually accommodated later that season. He thrived after joining the Steelers, earning his first All-Pro nod. Advertisement Fitzpatrick continued to thrive in Pittsburgh over the next five seasons, making two more All-Pro teams and four Pro Bowls from 2020 to 2024. Jonnu Smith also heads to Steelers in Jalen Ramsey trade Smith heads to the Steelers after one year in Miami. He performed well in his only season with the team, hauling in 88 passes for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. That performance earned Smith his first Pro Bowl appearance. Despite his strong season, Smith has been a popular trade candidate all offseason. He's entering the final year of his contract and was sitting out Dolphins offseason workouts until he got a new deal. With the trade, Smith received a one-year, $12 million contract extension, which should keep him in Pittsburgh through the 2026 NFL season.
