‘Frieren: Beyond Journey's End' Season 2 Trailer Unveiled by Crunchyroll, Sets January 2026 Release
Crunchyroll treated fans to fireworks of a different kind at Anime Expo on July 4, unveiling the first trailer for 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End' Season 2 and confirming its acquisition of worldwide streaming rights for a January 2026 release. The reveal took place during a Crunchyroll-hosted panel at downtown LA's Peacock Theater, where fans got their first look at the anticipated return of the acclaimed fantasy series. The streaming platform secured rights for all territories excluding Asia, though India and the Indian subcontinent are included in the deal, with plans for a simulcast from Japan. Each spoke about their experiences on the series and about the upcoming season. Fukushi revealed that Tomoya Kitagawa will direct Season 2. Kitagawa previously contributed storyboards and directed multiple episodes in the first season. Season 1 director Keiichiro Saito, known for 'Bocchi the Rock!,' will oversee the new season as supervising director. The creative team for Season 2 includes assistant director Daiki Harashina ('takt op. Destiny'), series composition by Tomohiro Suzuki ('One-Punch Man'), and character design by Takasemaru ('Violet Evergarden'), Keisuke Kojima ('100 Meters'), and Yuri Fujinaka, who worked on key animation for 'SPY x FAMILY CODE: White.' The first season proved a critical darling, earning nominations for Anime of the Year and taking home wins for Best Drama, Best Director, Best Background Art, and Best Supporting Character at the 9th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards earlier this year. The story follows immortal elven mage Frieren who, decades after defeating the Demon King with her human companions, embarks on a reflective journey to understand humanity and confront her regrets about not forming deeper bonds with her now-deceased friends. The series features an ensemble voice cast including Atsumi Tanezaki and Mallorie Rodak as Frieren, Kana Ichinose and Jill Harris as Fern, and Kobayashi alongside Jordan Dash Cruz as Stark, among others in both Japanese and English versions. Huge car brand ‘to launch new EV version' of their best-selling model of all time early next year
AN ICONIC car brand is set to launch an incredible new EV version of its best-selling model of all time - and it comes out early next year. The cutting-edge electrical version of the fan-favourite car will be on the UK market in January 2026 - and Brit drivers need to wait just half a year to own one. 3 Drivers will be able to get their hands on the stunning Volvo EX60 in just six months. The state-of-the-art car comes as the brand's response to Audi 's Q6-e-tron, the Porsche Macan Electric and the much anticipated BMQ iX3. The all-electric car is the non-petrol alternative to the popular XC60 SUV - the brand's best-selling model of all time. The first images of the EX60 revealed the car's new rear light signature. It does not appear to have a full-width light bar - like most other EVs being launched at the moment - but it does feature separate segmented tail-lights embedded in the rear windscreen. These are also found on the Volvo EX90, EX30 and ES90. The breathtaking new design also features angular rear haunches, a bigger Volvo lettering across the tailgate and smooth surfacing. It will also boast eight-bit-style LED headlights, flush door handles, and aerodynamic alloy wheels. The EX60's overall proportions are understood to be similar to the current XC60. It is currently unclear if the new EX60 will feature the advanced LiDAR driver-assistance tech, which features on the flagship EX90. I drove the new Volvo EX30 Cross Country – it's a tough, high-riding EV that can conquer ice lakes and look cool at home Chief Product and Strategy Officer, Erik Severinson told Auto Express the brand is experimenting with 'different kinds of [safety] sensors going forward'. The EX60 is also set to be Volvo's first model to feature the new "multi-adaptive safety belt" tech. And it will also be the first built on the firm's next-generation SPA3 platform. The new platform has been branded as a "groundbreaking" feat which was deigned for "longer range, efficiency and intelligent core computing". SPA3 is set to allow the Swedish brand to develop and build cars of all sizes using the same extraordinary tech. Another big upgrade that will set the EX60 apart from other electric Volvos is its new 'structural' battery pack. This clever tech, already used by Tesla and BYD, bonds the battery directly to the car's floor. Severinson said this leads to 'improved energy density". It also allows 'great driveability' thanks to extra stiffness in the chassis. The larger EX90 uses a massive 107kWh battery, giving it a range of 374 miles on a single charge. Since the EX60 is smaller, it is likely to get a more compact, lighter pack - but with better energy density. It could therefore potentially manage close to 400 miles on a full charge. The incorporation of the new cutting-edge tech is partly thanks to the EX60's megacasted rear underfloor. Most cars have rear undercarriages constructed using a multitude of different parts. But the EX60 will get a single unit that is cast out of aluminium. Megacasting is a relatively new concept in the car world. Tesla is one mainstream brand already using the method, along with several Chinese firms like Nio, Zeekr and XPeng. Volvo says the new rear floor is '15–20 per cent less' heavy than a traditional stamped version, while offering 'just as good, if not better, safety and durability'. The process brings other benefits too, including more boot space and faster production. A megacasted floor takes just 120 seconds to make - compared to an hour for a standard multi-piece one. Right now, Volvo uses 20 per cent recycled aluminium in production, but it plans to boost that figure and fully recycle each floor at the end of the car's life.

A Reminder There's Somehow A '28 Years Later' Sequel In Seven Months
28 Years Later 28 Years Later is a critical and box office success, sailing to a $60 million opening worldwide when the original film, 28 Days Later, only made $82 million total. It is on pace to rapidly surpass its overall budget. What 28 Years Later viewers may not know, or at least have forgotten, is that there is a sequel film, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, being released soon. Not conceptually, not in some far-flung release window. It's out in seven months. As in, January 2026, barring any changes. The film is not directed by Danny Boyle this time, but rather Nia DaCosta who did The Marvels and Candyman. Alex Garland is the writer of both films (and the OG 28 Days Later). The reason the movie is out so soon is that both 28 Years films were shot back-to-back. It retains some of the stars from 28 Years Later, including Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (uh, spoilers?), but the centerpiece is the return of Cillian Murphy to the series, who did not star in the first 28 Years installment. There is a third movie planned, but Danny Boyle says that it will only be made if the first two are successful. That does seem like it will be the case, albeit I would be shocked if 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple does nearly as well as the original movie, as I think a seven-months-later sequel with a very similar name is going to confuse some people. And you will definitely have to have seen the first film for it to make much sense, no doubt. 28 Years Later 28 Years Later was at one point the second best-reviewed horror movie of 2025 (nothing is going to be Sinners, obviously), but the score has dropped a bit. Audience scores are not great, with a 65% on Rotten Tomatoes. Here's how the 2025 critic list looks now for mainstream horror: I am certainly curious what 28 Years Later: The Bone Collector does in terms of both its critic and audience reviews. There's also a significant difference with Boyle switching to Nia DaCosta, who directed the biggest cinematic bomb in the MCU, The Marvels (I would argue that film is over-hated and deserved better, but still). Given the context of the sequel and what she has to work with, I think this will still go well. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Galaxy S26 Ultra, S26 Edge spotted: Is the 'Plus' model really going away?
Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Edge have appeared in the IMEI database. The early listing of the Galaxy S26 Edge suggests a January launch for the phone. It also adds weight to rumors that Samsung may drop the Plus variant from next year's flagship lineup. The first official signs of Samsung's Galaxy S26 series have emerged, with the Galaxy S26 Edge and S26 Ultra appearing in the IMEI database. The listings, uncovered by SammyPolice, are an early but reliable indicator that development of the new Samsung flagships is progressing right on schedule for a January 2026 launch. The IMEI listings show model numbers SM-S947U for the Galaxy S26 Edge and SM-S948U and SM-S948N for the S26 Ultra, targeting the US and South Korean markets, respectively. What's more interesting, though, is the appearance of the Galaxy S26 Edge this early in the cycle, which might mean that Samsung is indeed ditching the Plus variant as previously rumored. Galaxy S26 Edge coming early? The Galaxy S25 Edge launched in May this year, several months after the rest of the S25 series. In contrast, this early listing of the Galaxy S26 Edge strongly suggests Samsung is not making that mistake again. That delayed rollout of the S25 Edge appears to have impacted its sales momentum, and the phone is reportedly underperforming compared to Samsung's expectations. However, with the S26 Edge now appearing in regulatory filings so early, it seems increasingly likely that Samsung wants to replace the Plus model with the Edge in 2026, possibly resulting in better sales for the ultra-thin flagship. That said, an earlier report also suggested that if sales of the S25 Edge don't meet Samsung's targets, the company might backtrack and keep the Plus model in the S26 series instead. Galaxy S26 series specs Unfortunately, the IMEI database doesn't provide any hardware specs for the Galaxy S26 Edge or Galaxy S26 Ultra. We've been hearing a bunch of rumors about the new phones, including conflicting camera details for the standard Galaxy S26, possible battery upgrades, the lack of an under-display selfie camera on the S26 Ultra, and more. On the software front, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to ship with One UI 8.5. While details on this new version are still under wraps, the return of the '.5' update suggests it could be the next big One UI update to look out for. We expect more concrete information to appear later in the development cycle of the Galaxy S26 series. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ .
