Washington DC [US], June 27 (ANI): Actress and model Julia Fox shared how she landed the role inBenny Safdie and Josh Safdie's 2019 thriller, 'Uncut Gems', starring Adam Sandler, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Julia appeared on the Jay Shetty Podcast and said, "People knew who I was. I was like a hood celebrity, and these directors heard about me and wanted to meet me. They were writing a part for this young girl who has a kind of sugar daddy situation. And that movie would go on to become Uncut Gems," she said. "I auditioned like everyone else. Unfortunately, even though they had written it for me, the studios were like, 'We don't know her.' They wanted like Scarlett Johansson and all these other beautiful women and established actresses," she added. However, Fox went on to describe what the turning point was: "At the time, I didn't even know if I could actually act, but I had a hunch. I did a screen test with Adam Sandler, and it went really well, and they were able to convince the studios to let me do it." Fox had heard they (makers) met with Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lawrence for her role before casting her, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fox played Sandler's love interest, who is also financially supported by him. Before Fox began acting, she said, "Everybody knew I was living off of my sugar daddy's money," and she was "looked at as the spectacle." Since then, her acting credits have included No Sudden Move, Presence, Fantasmas and more, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (ANI)

Selena Gomez had 'the biggest crush' on Ice Cube

Selena Gomez used to have the "biggest crush" on Ice Cube. The 32-year-old beauty - who is engaged to record producer Benny Blanco - has revealed that she had a big crush on the rap star during her younger years. Appearing on a new episode of Complex's GOAT Talk, Selena said: "Can I tell you my first one that I had a crush on, Ice Cube? I had the biggest crush on him when I was, like, five." Selena subsequently explained why she was so infatuated with the rapper. She shared: "It's so weird, but I just thought he would protect me. "I'm only saying it simply based on my childhood." Selena actually listened to a lot of rap music during her younger years, and she was a huge fan of Eminem at the time, too. The chart-topping star explained: "One of [my favourite rappers] was Eminem only because I grew up listening to him "My dad was a DJ so he would remix all kinds of songs, and every time it was an Eminem song, I would just get so excited." Selena announced her engagement to Benny in December 2024, and the brunette beauty previously revealed that she feels "so excited" about the prospect of having children. The singer admitted that she'd love to raise children with Benny one day. Selena - who previously revealed that she isn't able to carry her own children - said on the Jay Shetty Podcast: "I don't know what will happen, obviously, but I love children. I have an 11-year-old sister that I absolutely adore. "I love making [children] laugh; they're just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I'm so excited for it." Selena first found stardom as a child, and Benny believes that she still shares a connection with children. The 37-year-old producer explained: "When you started doing this you were a kid and that was your way to connect to people and I feel like you still feel like you have that obligation to connect with young kids. "You shaped so many young people's lives, whether it was 'Barney', 'Wizards of Waverly Place' ... you're still finding your way to do that."

"I Was Like...": Michelle Obama Says Husband Barack Joked "You're Next Up" After Her Mother's Death

Former First Lady Michelle Obama recently revealed the surprising comment that her husband, former US President Barack Obama, made when she lost her mother in 2024. During a conversation with her brother Craig Robinson on the 'IMO Podcast', she recalled a conversation she had with Barack Obama following the demise of her mother, Marian Robinson. She revealed that "Barack was saying, you know, 'Well, you're next up'" shortly after her mother's death. "I was like, 'I'm not really ready to be next up,'" she explained, adding, "I told him, 'You're next up and Craig is next up.' I delegate that power to you." Michelle Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, died in May 2024 at the age of 86. During the podcast, the two siblings reflected on the impact their mother's death had on them. The duo shared that their mother had been "preparing" them for when she would no longer be alive. "The listeners should know that mom's been threatening to drop dead for 20 years," Craig Robinson said, adding, "She has been preparing us for this. So, she left very direct instructions on what she wanted and how she wanted things to be. We had to take that into account." Further, the pair, who lost their father in 1991, spoke at length about their parents, noting that they both left "big shoes to fill" after their respective deaths. "It's a major shift in your life. I don't care how old you get. Mom and Dad are Mom and Dad," the former first lady said. "Even when I was taking care of Mom, I still gotta listen to her. I can sort of boss her around but in the end, she's my mother. There's a comfort level in that, knowing that no matter how wise or experienced I am in the world, mom always knew more," she added. Meanwhile, in a separate podcast with Jay Shetty earlier this month, Michelle Obama shared that she is seeking therapy to navigate the "next phase of her life". With her daughters grown, her public service work concluded, and her focus now on herself for the first time in years, she emphasised the importance of therapy in navigating this personal shift. "At this phase of my life, I'm in therapy right now because I'm transitioning, you know? I'm 60 years old, I finished a really hard thing in life with my family intact. I'm an empty nester. You know my girls are in - they've been launched. And now for the first time, as I've said before, every choice I'm making is completely mine," she said in an interview with the Jay Shetty Podcast.

Michelle Obama Reveals She's In Therapy As She Gears Up For "Next Phase" In Life

Former First Lady Michelle Obama shared that she is seeking therapy to navigate the "next phase of her life." With her daughters grown, her public service work concluded, and her focus now on herself for the first time in years, she emphasised the importance of therapy in navigating this personal shift. Her comments follow speculation about a possible divorce from former President Barack Obama. "At this phase of my life, I'm in therapy right now because I'm transitioning, you know? I'm 60 years old, I finished a really hard thing in life with my family intact. I'm an empty nester. You know my girls are in — they've been launched. And now for the first time, as I've said before, every choice I'm making is completely mine," she said in an interview with the Jay Shetty Podcast. The former First Lady said a combination of being out of public service and her children being fully grown has left her in a situation where "every choice that I'm making is completely mine". "I now don't have the excuse of, 'Well, my kids need this,' or 'my husband needs that, ' or 'the country needs that.' So, how do I think about this next phase? Let me get some help," she added. Mrs Obama, a longtime advocate for therapy, compared it to getting a "tune-up." She explained that, having practiced therapy for years, she feels this is the ideal moment for it, as she transitions into a new phase of life, fully aware of her past experiences and current needs. She acknowledged that she was able to "unwind some old habits" and "sort through some old guilt" during therapy sessions. Notably, her absence from events such as President Donald Trump's second inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter earlier this year prompted speculation that the Obamas were not in good health. Mrs Obama revealed that stepping away from certain high-profile commitments was a deliberate choice rooted in self-care. "I get to look at my calendar, which I did this year, was a real big example of me, myself looking at something that I was supposed to do - you know, without naming names - and I chose to do what was best for me, not what I had to do, not what I thought other people wanted me to do," she said. The Obamas have been married for 32 years and are parents to two daughters.

'Transitioning': Michelle Obama reveals she's in therapy as she focuses on her ‘next phase' - while Barack divorce rumours swirl

Former first lady Michelle Obama has revealed she's in therapy to help 'tune up' for the next phase of her life — as she continues to shoot down rumors that she and husband Barack are headed for divorce. 'At this phase of my life, I'm in therapy right now because I'm transitioning, you know?' the mom-of-two said in a recent interview on the Jay Shetty Podcast. 'I've finished a really hard thing in my life with my family intact, I'm an empty nester, my girls are in—you know, they've been launched.' The 61-year-old acknowledged she now has 'other voices' to talk to and a 'new person that's getting to know me' as she navigates life outside of public service. 'So, I'm getting that tune-up for this next phase because I believe this is a whole 'nother phase in life for me. And I now have the wisdom to know—let me go get some coaching while I'm doing it,' she said. The ex-first lady admitted, too, that therapy sessions were helping her 'unwind some old habits' and 'sort through some old guilt.' Michelle has been making the media rounds of late with her brother Craig Robinson — and has repeatedly addressed the rampant speculation her three-decade marriage is on the rocks. The Obamas have been dogged by divorce gossip after Michelle opted to skip several high-profile events earlier this year — including President Trump's inauguration. 'If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it,' she told entrepreneur Steven Bartlett in an interview last week. 'I would be problem-solving in public, like, 'Let me tell you what he did'.' She went on to say that marriage is 'hard' for them but she 'wouldn't trade it.' 'The beauty of my husband and our partnership is that neither one of us was ever really, ever going to quit at it, because that's not who we are. And I know that about him. He knows that about me,' she said. Originally published as 'Transitioning': Michelle Obama reveals she's in therapy as she focuses on her 'next phase' - while Barack divorce rumours swirl
