'Unapologetic': Tennis great Jelena Dokic stuns in bikini holiday snaps after shedding 20kg and halving her dress size
Jelena Dokic has delivered a powerful message about body positivity she proudly showcased her dramatic weight loss in a series of new photos from her summer holiday in Croatia. The 42-year-old former tennis champion and Channel Nine sports commentator took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing sun-soaked snaps from her time abroad, posing confidently in a bikini and a red linen dress by the ocean. "Me, free and unapologetically myself," Dokic wrote. "Be you. Be unapologetically you. You've got one life to live so live it free and be your unapologetic self. "You can't go through life worrying about what everyone else is going to think-whether it's your body, your size, your hair, your clothes, what you have, what you believe or how you feel," she added. The 2025 Gold Logie nominee was flooded with support from fans in the comments section. "You are looking beautiful and at peace!! So much wisdom in those words," one wrote. Another added: "Beautifully said" while a third commented: "Well said Jelena. Looking amazing and so happy." The former World Number Four's post follows a recent social media upload in which she opened up about her dramatic transformation, sharing side-by-side photos of herself at size 20 and size 10, and reflecting on the constant public scrutiny she's faced at both ends of the scale. "When I was a size 20 someone always complained and now that I am a size 10 someone is always complaining too," she wrote. "It baffles me how there is always some troll, bully or unkind person out there that has to comment or put someone down." She said that when she was larger, she was regularly insulted with slurs like "whale, cow and fat," and often asked what had "happened to her size". "Now that I am a size 10, I have apparently jumped on the 'diet' culture whatever that means—it's now bad that I am healthier and lost some weight, and I have abandoned standing up for plus-size people," she said. "Just goes to show, nothing will ever be good enough for people, and that's sad." Her latest post continued on a similar thread, with Dokic reminding her followers not to let others' judgment weigh them down. "You can't worry about other people's judgment and what they have to say, because someone will always have something to say," she wrote. "Their judgment says everything about them… so be yourself. "100 per cent unapologetically you. Live this life freely and authentically. Because you only have one life to live. Be you. Love, Jelena xoxo." The post also comes just weeks after she went public with her new partner, Melbourne-based hospitality operations manager Yane Veselinov. On July 14, she shared a sweet selfie of the pair with the caption: "You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you."

Jelena Dokic stuns fans as Aussie tennis star looks slimmer than ever in pyjamas while on holiday in Croatia - after debuting new romance
Jelena Dokic has stunned fans as she appeared slimmer than ever before in a photo of herself posing casually in pyjamas while on holiday. The retired tennis great, 42, has publicly chronicled her weight loss journey after shedding about 20 kilos through diet and lifestyle changes. She credits her success to a healthy diet and an exercise regimen, which includes working out at the gym at 6am while working 18-hour days. Dokic took to Instagram on Sunday to showcase her trimmed-down figure in a pastel blue robe on a getaway in her home country of Croatia. In her photo, Jelena looked cheerful and relaxed, wearing white hotel slippers and holding a cup of tea as she basked in the sun's rays. Her hair was gathered loosely in a bun, complementing her natural makeup-free look, and she took to the caption with a heart-warming note. "Slow mornings are the best," Dokic wrote alongside an emoji of tea, the sun and a smiling face with hearts. Fans flooded the comments to say Jelena looked great on her well-deserved getaway following commentating on the Wimbledon tennis tournament, where she reached the semifinals at 16 years old in 2000. "Look at you. What a beautiful transformation, body and soul. Enjoy beautiful lady," one fan wrote. "Wow! Jelena, you look amazing! You are back into your figure when you were playing tennis," another person said. One more fan who was in awe of Dokic's physical transformation said: "How did you lose so much weight? You look amazing". A third fan said the Aussie star looked gorgeous in her photo, adding, "It's good to slow Croatia." "Such an inspirational lady," another person added. A sixth pointed out how "happy, content and peaceful" Jelena appeared. "I'm so inspired by your life experiences and the way you've dig deep to overcome the pain and suffering," they said. The beloved tennis star, who retired from professional tennis in 2014, was nominated for her first-ever Logie award for the Channel 9 documentary Unbreakable, about her turbulent life on and off the court. In the documentary, Dokic harrowingly detailed her father and coach Damir Dokic's alleged physical, emotional and financial abuse, allegedly occurring regularly throughout her childhood and professional career. Jelena ultimately cut ties with her father before his death in May and completely rebooted her career. In 2009, she enjoyed an unforgettable run at the Australian Open after entering the draw as a wildcard and advancing to the quarter-finals. Following her retirement, her career continued as a highly sought-after commentator for all four Grand Slams on Channel Nine. Jelena's love life also took off with her whirlwind career off the court. She went public with her new boyfriend Yane Veselinov earlier this month following weeks of speculation about who the mystery man was. Dokic took to Instagram to reveal the identity of her new beau just weeks after published bombshell footage of the pair getting cosy at Melbourne Airport. "You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you," Dokic wrote alongside a romantic snap with her new partner. Yane is a hospitality operations manager who on Instagram describes himself as a "food and wine enthusiast, pleasure seeker and life enjoyer". It comes after Dokic split from her previous partner, Bukic, in late 2022 after an almost two-decade-long relationship.

Jelena Dokic hard launches new relationship
Australian tennis icon Jelena Dokic has finally gone public with her new boyfriend Yane Veselinov. The much-loved commentator hard launched the new relationship on Instagram. The couple had previously been photographed together in May, but hadn't confirmed the romance publicly until now. Dokic, 42, posted a photo of herself with Veselinov, writing: 'You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you.❤️' The post was quickly flooded with likes and comments from her adoring fans. Dokic has gone public with her new boyfriend. Credit: Instagram 'Oh YAYYYYYY!!!! So happy for you xxxx you deserve all the joy and happiness life has to offer,' one fan wrote. 'This makes me so happy! You deserve all the happiness in the world Jelena!' Another said. 'You seem very happy. All the best Jelena x,' another wrote. 'So happy to see you happy,' another said. Dokic was previously in a 19-year relationship with Tin Bikic that ended in 2021. Since then she has rebuilt her life (she has previously stated that she was a mess after their romance ended) and undergone a huge transformation, both mentally and physically. The story about the abuse she suffered from her late father Damir, who died last month, has also been detailed in the series Unbreakable: The Jelena Dokic Story. Dokic, who just wrapped up two weeks of commentating at Wimbledon for Channel 9, recently opened up on her desire to be a mum. Despite her own tumultuous upbringing as a child and a young woman that left her forever mentally scarred, Dokic said she has so much love to give. 'I actually think I would be a good mum, to be honest,' Dokic said on the podcast Mental As Anyone. 'I love kids.' But, despite that, Dokic sadly admits that her parenting dream may never be realised. 'I don't think that that's going to happen for me,' she said. 'I was in a relationship for almost 19 years from the age of 20 and right up to when we split up, we were about to start trying for a family.' Dokic said that the abuse she received throughout her life never crushed her maternal instincts. Surprisingly, she said it might have even nourished them. 'Even 15 years ago, when I was 25, I always said, 'I want to have kids, but I want to adopt',' she said. 'Maybe it comes from when you grow up maybe in a home that's fractured and with pain and you go, maybe I can give something different to a kid that I know maybe will have the same, or they won't have parents or something like that. 'So I always felt like I wanted to do that for at least one kid in the world. 'That's a big kind of wish of mine and passion and I hope to do it one day. 'Did I at one stage maybe think, I didn't have the best experience and know a lot of people with parents and having that childhood and what would that mean for me? 'Because I know a lot people that have been through family violence or abuse, domestic violence, however you want to frame it, they are worried about that, whether they would be the same or if there's something there.' >> Sign up to our daily newsletter to get all the biggest sports stories delivered into your inbox Dokic said she would consider adopting a child, with or without a father. '(But I'd) love it to have a father as well,' she said. 'I know that I can give it absolutely everything and would have all the love and support and I would be completely different and … I could never be that (like my father) ever. 'I know that yes, obviously, it's a challenge, which I would love. I would embrace it and take it on. 'I just love kids so much. I know I would be a bloody good mum and I know I would give it the love in the world of a million people. 'I have so much love to give.'

It can now be revealed that the new love in Jelena's life is a hospitality operations manager who describes himself on Instagram as a "food and wine enthusiast, pleasure seeker and life enjoyer". Dokic stoked speculation about her love life on Sunday after sharing a glimpse of a night out with a mystery date two years on from her shock split from Brazilian-born Tin Bukic. The Aussie tennis great has just wrapped up commentary duties covering the iconic Wimbledon tennis tournament, the same event where she reached the semifinal in 2000 at just 16 years old. On Sunday, Dokic marked the end of Wimbledon fever by sharing a photo of a cocktail in a ritzy restaurant via her Instagram. 'I actually think I would be a good mum, to be honest; I love kids.' Dokic revealed she was now planning to start a family as a 'single parent' and was open to exploring adoption. 'It is something I would like to do because I love kids,' she said. 'I didn't have the best experience (but) if I was, let's say, a single mum and adopted one day, it would have all the love in the world.'
