People shocked after realising famous British actress is the voice behind viral Jet2 advert
People are only just realising that the voice behind the viral - and widely spoofed - Jet2Holidays advert belongs to a much-loved British soap actress. The UK-based organisation's ad, which features popstar Jess Glynne 's 'Hold My Hand', shows a family of four enjoying a fun-filled holiday abroad while the voiceover skips through the offers and discounts available. The high-energy voice that viewers hear throughout the 30-second 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' ad has become almost as distinctive as Glynne's UK chart-topping track - but until recently people had no idea that it belonged to ex-Hollyoaks actress Zoë Lister. Zoë, 43, played Zoe Carpenter in the Channel 4 show between 2006 and 2010, making a brief return in April 2017. A writer as well as a performer, mother-of-two Zoë has also contributed to 56 episodes of the soap, which marked its 30th anniversary this year. Other past acting jobs include roles in Midsomer Murders, Crime Stories and Staff Room. According to her management company Harvey Voice's website, she has been the voice of Jet2Holidays for four years. Yet, it was only relatively recently that the mother-of-two revealed herself as the voice of the ad on TikTok - much to fans' delight. Viewers have been left bewildered at Zoe's reveal of herself as the voice of the holiday company's adverts And, in a lighthearted video published yesterday, Zoë joked: 'The struggle is real when you're a secret icon.' The 20-second clip, in which the former Hollyoaks star is dressed inconspicuously in a casual sweatshirt and black baseball cap, is amusingly captioned: 'When your voiceover's gone global but nobody realises what a big deal you are'. With 1.2 million views in just over 24 hours, Zoë's TikTok video appears to have struck a chord with those familiar with the ubiquitous Jet2Holidays ad. It equally sparked a very enthusiastic response, with thousands of people quipping in the comments section. One person wrote: 'OMG THEE JET 2 HOLIDAY - THAT'S YOU?!' Another chimed in with the now famous lyrics to the ad, exclaiming: 'NOTHING BEATS A JET2 HOLIDAY'. A third person shared their advice: 'Get a T-shirt and print the inscription "I'm Zoë Lister and my Jet2 sound is going viral.' Someone else revealed just how much the ad had affected them, telling Zoë that they could impersonate her 'perfectly'. The TikToker wrote: 'After one year on TikTok, I can do a perfect you. Or, at least the intonation and accent. 'And I'm a 39-year-old guy from Argentina whose first language is Spanish...' A fifth user joked: 'It's like being Spiderman, but you can't tell anyone'. And a sixth amusingly commented: 'You'll forever win at "Two truths and a lie".' Another person commented: 'It is so funny cause how did this become a meme'. Although the advert featuring Zoe's voiceover was first released in 2024, the audio clip has gone viral on TikTok in recent months as it's picked up as an ironic trend through which people share their disastrous travel stories. Zoe's voiceover, layered over Jess Glynne's Hold My Hand, promotes Jet2 holidays to accompany clips of tourists getting caught in torrential downpours or falling off water slides. As for Zoe herself, the actress's best known role is playing Zoe Carpenter in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks back in the late noughties and early 2010s. Her character, who was introduced to the audience as a university student, navigated troubling storylines including becoming a victim of voyeurism, before she began dating her best friend Sarah's father, Steve, and unwittingly became stepmother to her own peer. Later in the series, Sarah died in a parachute accident, leaving Zoe grieving over her friend's death.

Package holiday firms slash prices to Greece and Turkey
On the eve of the peak summer months of July and August, the UK's biggest travel firms are selling hundreds of packages holidays to Greek and Turkey for under £300 per person for a week. Jet2 Holidays, Tui and easyJet Holidays have cut prices for eastern Mediterranean packages to fill aircraft seats and hotel beds in early July. Unlike some holidays sold by online travel agents, they include checked baggage and transfers as well as flights and accommodation. The cheapest deal is with Tui from London Gatwick to Kavos in Corfu for £228 on 13 July. But this is branded a 'Scene' holiday, aimed at younger travellers, and may not appeal to those seek a more relaxed Mediterranean stay. Also from Gatwick, Tui is offering a week in Side, east of Antalya in southern Turkey, for £260 on 1 July. The price includes a room-only stay at the Gazipasa Star Hotel close to the Temple of Apollo, a landmark of the Mediterranean coast. The distance travelled on the round-trip by air and road is 3,700 miles – further than from London to New York. Jet2 Holidays, the biggest package firm in the UK, has deals under £300 this week for a week from London Stansted to Parga in northwest Greece (2 July), East Midlands to the Turkish resort of Bodrum (3 July) and Birmingham to Marmaris in Turkey (4 July). The third-largest package firm is easyJet Holidays, which has Manchester to Rhodes on 2 July and Liverpool to Antalya on 4 July for £268. These could appeal to Scottish travellers, since the school holidays have begun across Scotland. From other UK airports, Tui has plenty of deals to the Greek islands, including Bournemouth to Kefalonia for £268 on 13 July, which also includes breakfast. On 11 July, holidaymakers can go from Manchester to Corfu for £272. Demand for holidays in the eastern Mediterranean is believed to have dropped due to concerns about the recent upsurge in conflict in the Middle East. But Julia Lo Bue-Said, chief executive of the Advantage Travel Partnership, told The Independent 's daily travel podcast: 'What we work really hard at doing is ensuring that people understand that these places are safe. 'They are far away from where everything is happening and [people] can continue to travel in the knowledge that they are destinations that you can still enjoy.'

Ibiza chaos caught on camera as woman is hit with chair in pool party brawl
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Ibiza's famed party scene descended into chaos this weekend – with a dramatic fight breaking out by the poolside. In a brawl caught on camera, revellers were hit with flying chairs. The ruckus was filmed and posted on Instagram on Sunday by @sanantonioibiza, showing a shocking scuffle at the well-known Marco Polo hotel in San Antonio. A seemingly peaceful day by the pool turned into bedlam when a group of revellers got caught up in an intense altercation, leaving bystanders stunned. In the clip, there's a blur of action as several individuals tussle and slip on the slick poolside surface. During the scrap, a bloke in blue shorts is spotted lobbing a chair towards others already in the water. A woman in a black bikini can be seen losing her footing and tumbling into the fracas, along with two more people stumbling over the chairs. A lifeguard tries to step in and stop another chair from being thrown but doesn't succeed, as the situation further deteriorates. More hotel employees rush to the scene in an effort to restore order. This all took place under a sign that ironically read: "Good Vibes Only." To add to the irony, Jess Glynne's popular tune "Hold My Hand", famously associated with Jet2Holidays, blares in the background throughout the incident. Some thought the situation was amusing, with one taking to Instagram to sarcastically write: "Yeah, a chair flew... but so did the vibes. Only at Marco Polo #ibizaexperience #ibizaunfiltered". Others could also see the humour in the incident. One laughed: "The message on the wall is the best thing." Meanwhile, another observed: "The more you watch, the more you see." However, others didn't think it was a laughing matter. Concerned for people captured in the footage, one viewer asked: "Is anyone going to see how that poor woman is doing?" Meanwhile, others linked it to wider issues going on in Spain. They noted: "No wonder the Spanish people are striking." One individual, who claimed to be there during the incident, offered their own take. They alleged: "The lads throwing the chairs were being nightmares around the pool all day and were from Ibiza Rocks not Marco Polo. "The blonde lad got started on and drops two of them so they get the chairs and start swinging them and that's the video you see… the lads that threw the chairs got kicked out and back to good vibes." The hotel is yet to comment on the viral footage.
