I honestly cannot wait. I cannot even tell you how excited I am to get in that ring on August 30. I am going to be in my element. It has been a long time coming and there has been negotiations that we could not meet and timings. I am a busy man, I have got TV shows coming at me left, right and centre. I also need to juggle that with this. This is something I am very passionate about and want to do. That is why we are doing it now. I have got TV shows I can do. But, to be honesty this is paying me a lot more and this is something I am very passionate about and I am very excited about it." NUMEIRO:"I saw a couple of videos of him boxing and sparring and I do not know if he was trying to look bad on purpose to like not scare me away. That was genuinely a question in my head because I do not know the guy. I do not know if he fought as a kid. I saw a couple of videos and they looked really bad. Hopefully, he was not playing me. If that was the real him, I am confident I will beat him up."

The many lives of Joey Essex as star makes pro boxing debut

Reality star Joey Essex is set to make his professional boxing debut, and it's left us wondering: Is there anything this fella hasn't thrown himself into? The 34-year-old rose to fame following his stint on The Only Way Is Essex, and then participated in a realm of other reality shows, but has also been a panelist on some other shows. Joey has tried his hand at entrepreneurship, launching his own hair products, opened his own shop, launched his own clothes line — and has released two fragrances. Pic:The reality star has tried his hand at singing and skating, and has appeared on many of our favourite dating shows — most recently Love Island. And now he's going boxing. Ahead of Joey's pro-boxing debut, we thought we'd take a look at the many lives of Joey Essex. Pic: ITV/REX/Shutterstock Joey first arrived onto our TV screens in 2011 when he appeared on The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) alongside cousin, Chloe Sims, before he was then promoted to a main cast member. During his time on TOWIE, he also compete in Splash! and following his departure from TOWIE headed into the jungle where he competed in I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Other notable credits to Joey's reality show list include Celebs Go Dating; Celebrity on the Beach; Dancing on Ice and the Aussie version of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. Joey Essex. There's much more to Joey than a couple of reality shows and a song, though! In 2013, the star released his own hair products range, Joey Essex: D'Reem Hair, quickly followed by a fashion boutique in Essex called Fusey in the same year. The boutique, based in Brentwood, featured a range of clothing including Joey's own Fusey fashion range. Pic: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock But what's a celebrity with their very own fragrance? In the same year, Joey released two fragrances — Fusey for men, and My Girl for women, both of which got good reviews at the time. In 2016, Fusey clothes their doors for the final time, but the star was set to release a new clothing line the following year. Pic: ITV Last year, Love Island fans were left divided when Joey entered the villa as a bomb shell in the hopes of finding love — or maybe he was in it for the money, we'll never know! There was fury from some fans who argued the show was for non-celebs or so-called 'normal people' though others were more in agreement with the recent shake-up, which followed the shock return of Adam Collard which happened two years previous. Joey reconnected with model Grace Jackson, who he had been previously linked to. He later coupled up with Jessy Potts, though their romance came to an end following their departure from the show. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Joey Essex (@joeyessex) Joey's next venture is into the boxing ring where he will make his debut with Misfits Boxing alongside Portugal's Numeiro. The bout will take place on the Ring of Thrones fight night which is being held at the AO Arena, Manchester on August 30. Announcing his debut, Joey said: 'Well it's time for me to step in the ring and show you all what I'm really about for the first time ever. 'What are you saying?'

Love Island star reveals bed swapping villa secret viewers don't see on TV

LOVE Island star Samantha Kenny has revealed that plenty of bed swapping happens in the villa - but it's not shown on TV. The Liverpudlian, who took part on the ITV2 dating show last year, spilled the tea on what really happens when the cameras stop rolling. 3 Samantha, 27, said each week the boys and girls are divided for a day off from filming. On these days, the male and female Islanders are separated when it comes to the bedroom. "We have a down day once a week," she told Daily Star. "We are separate from the boys and the girls have to share a bed. "There is a producer inside the villa, so we can't chat properly about any gossip, so that's why we're split up." Samantha shot to fame last summer and was known for her brief and disastrous romance with Joey Essex. Samantha was dumped from the villa on day 16. Since being on Love Island, the TV reality star has found herself quite in demand - with footballers. Samantha revealed how she'd had plenty of footy stars slide into her DMs. However, she has revealed she would never date any of them, because they act like "they're all 12." Watch Love Island star Shakira's brutal blink and you'll miss it dig at Harrison as he quit the villa - did you spot it? Sam also said she had been approached by ex Love Island stars. The star said dating outside of the villa has been hard to get her head around. Speaking about the type of men who'd been messaging her, she told The Mirror: "Only ex-Islanders, no-one major. "There's loads of footballers, loads of footy players, they're always in there." Implying that the messages had been too childish for her, she added: "But they have a conversation with themselves. "I tend to stay away from them because they're always like 12." VILLA HEARTBREAK Last summer, Samantha didn't have the easiest time when she joined the cast of Love Island. She spent two weeks coupled up with Joey Essex before Grace Jackson, who he'd had a previous connection on the outside world with, stole him away in Secret Sleepover. This led to the make-up artist sobbing on the daybeds claiming Joey "didn't give a flying f**k" about her feelings. After being dumped, Samantha made sure to have the last word - blasting his apologies as "a load of s**t".

The Epping ‘protests' make me ashamed to admit I'm from Essex

I spent a long time being too embarrassed to admit I was from Essex. When I went to university, I used to tell people I was from 'north-east London', rather than admit to the county of my birth. It feels silly to admit it, now, but I felt distinctly haunted by the typical 'Essex girl' tropes, even at 18. When I met my then-boyfriend's family in Bristol, I still remember that the first thing his dad said was to tease me by asking if I'd driven down the M4 in a clapped out Ford Fiesta. White stilettos, orange fake tan and reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex (or 'TOWIE', to those in the know – and of course I went to school with half of the cast); we've long been the butt of the nation's jokes, both on and off screen. Our unofficial royals are Gemma Collins and Joey Essex. Need I say more? Thankfully, I grew out of that childish shame that leads you to reject where you come from – when people ask me where I'm from, I say 'Essex' again. Except that right now, I'm seriously considering going back in the closet. That's because when I woke to news that 'protests' had broken out in Epping – the place I used to go 'out out' as a teen, the place I still meet old schoolfriends in for lunch, the place my relatives still live in – I felt deeply, deeply ashamed. Even more so when footage showed hordes of people clashing with police outside a hotel believed to be housing asylum seekers. Essex Police said missiles were thrown at officers and the hotel, police vans and vehicles smashed, the high street brought to a standstill and one officer injured, while eight officers in total were assaulted – in what the force described as 'extreme hostility from a large number of individuals'. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper described it as 'selfish criminal behaviour' perpetuated by 'a mindless minority who don't give a damn about the hardworking, good people of Epping'. He added: 'Help us get them, because the people of Essex are proud people and these streets are ours.' He's right. To my mind, these 'protests' showcase the very worst of Essex. The worst of Britain, full-stop. Depressingly, it's not even an isolated incident. The first pathetic 'protest' was reportedly planned in advance and took place on Sunday night, followed by further disruption on Thursday. The excuse? A 38-year-old resident there was accused, last week, of sexual assault. Now, I have no idea about the alleged sexual assault case involving Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, who appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court earlier in the day. I don't know the details, or the outcome. Neither do these 'protesters'. But what I do know is that their behaviour helps no-one – least of all the alleged victim. And what almost amuses me (except that it's... not funny) is that I wrote only yesterday about the number of sexual assaults and incidents of harassment myself and my friends have experienced on the Tube – from being followed by 'burping, farting men' to catcalls, groping and obscene gestures. But what if I also repeat the sad fact that in almost every incident of male to female violence on public transport, not a single person steps in to help us – or to report it happening? How do people explain themselves for this utter failure to call out harassment when it's actually happening right in front of them – to anyone, by anyone? I took an unsavoury trawl through a local Facebook group, to see how people were reacting to the protests, but the ignorance was shocking. Some attempted to excuse the behaviour in the name of 'protecting kids'; while many blamed the government. Thankfully, there were also voices pointing out that thuggery isn't welcome in the area. 'So people not from Epping have gone to Epping to cause trouble', one said. Another called it 'disgusting, attacking the police' – and one long-term resident said this is 'not the Epping l used to know and come from – this is NOT a protest, it's DISGRACEFUL behaviour.' Hear, hear. This is not the Essex I know, believe in – or want to be associated with. If anyone asks, I'm from north-east London, again...

Love Island's wildest and sexiest terrace moments – from iconic Ekin-Su crawl to Mimii's very awkward Ayo chat

LOVE Island always promises a rollercoaster of drama each season, but it also always delivers some steamy highlights. One of the hotspots for some of the show's steamiest moments and where the Islanders love to sneak away for some sneaky snogging, is the villa's infamous terrace. 6 From Ekin-Su's dramatic crawl, to some steamy first kiss, the terrace has played host to some of the most dramatic moments on the ITV2 reality dating show. Joey's Secret 6 Last year, TOWIE star Joey Essex shocked viewers and co-stars alike when he revealed a secret about another couple in the villa. During the Couples Goals challenge will play out Joey whispered to the group: 'I know something no one knows here." The Essex lad was referring to the fact Mimii headed to the terrace for a secret rendezvous with Ayo Odukoya, asking Joey to send the footballer up there. At the time, she clambered on the floor of the iconic kissing spot so as to avoid being detected Ekin's crawl 6 In one of Love Island's most iconic moment, the now infamous clip of Ekin-Su crawling to meet Jay on the terrace has gone down in the show's history. beefcake, Jay Younger, despite her burgeoning romance with Davide. But the pivot led to hilarious scenes when Ekin crawled on all fours to meet Jay secretly on the terrace. When Davide found out, he fired off a now-iconic one-liner: 'You are a liar and an actress!' While Ekin's deceit proved to be the couple's demise, it cemented them separately as fan favourites and they proved unable to stay away from each other, going on to win the 2022 series. 6 6 Toni's wannabe Ekin moment Love Island fans were completely obsessed as Toni recreated that iconic Ekin-Su moment earlier this month. She crawled across the terrace to speak to Harrison after the dramatic movie night twist on Friday's episode. Both Toni Laites and Harrison Solomon chose to recouple when they came back from Casa Amor. After the infamous ITV2 movie night twist, Toni admitted that she felt "exposed" when a clip played where she admitted to still liking Harrison. Later on Love Island, the footballer asked Toni to meet him on the terrace. He secretly snuck up to the balcony as he first crouched down behind the barrier to avoid being seen. When Toni arrived, she also crouched down and was seen to have crawled to her former couple partner. Together, the duo sat on the floor as Harrison lavished her with compliments. Joey's second shocker 6 As if one huge scene-stealing moment was not enough for Joey, he also shared a racy moment on the villa's terrace. As his relationship with Grace hit the rocks, the reality TV veteran shared a kiss with Jessy after she chose to 'steal' him not long after arriving on the show. They tried to hide from the other Islanders as they locked lips. Yasmin's secret snog In the current Love Island series, raven-haired hottie Yasmin was whisked away to the Hideaway Terrace by a coupled-up Harry while all the Islanders watch on in shock. He confessed to enjoying kissing her and she insisted that they snog again.
