Ittihad of Alexandria sign Nigerian striker John Ebuka - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side Ittihad of Alexandria announced on Sunday the signing of Nigerian striker John Ebuka on a two-year contract. The 28-year-old joins from Masry, where he scored one goal in 12 appearances following a January move from Ceramica Cleopatra. The transfer reunites Ebuka with head coach Ahmed Sami, under whom he previously played at Ceramica Cleopatra, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 14 matches. Ittihad hopes Ebuka's experience in the Egyptian Premier League will strengthen their attacking line ahead of the new season. During his time with ENPPI, Ceramica Cleopatra, and Masry, he has scored 33 goals and provided eight assists in 114 league appearances. The Alexandria-based club has been active in the current transfer window. They recently secured Mohamed Toni and Mohamed Metwally 'Kanaria' from Ceramica Cleopatra in a swap deal that included Mohamed El-Maghrabi, with Mahmoud Ajeeb and Nour Alaa also joining Ittihad as part of the exchange. Other recent signings include Abdelrahman Boudy, goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdel-Rahim 'Genish,' Ahmed Mahmoud, Isaac Saviour, and Mohamed Sami. Preview: Masry aim to hold off Simba in Confederation Cup quarterfinal second leg - Egyptian Football

Egypt's Masry will look to keep their first leg advantage when they face Tanzania's Simba SC in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium. First-half goals from Abderrahim Deghmoum and John Ebuka handed Masry a 2-0 win in the first leg last week in Suez. This puts the Port Said side in a strong position to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2018. Tunisian coach Anis Boujelbene has called for discipline and composure from his players. He warned against the danger of conceding early in front of a home crowd. 'Simba are strong on their own ground, and we expect a tough atmosphere,' Boujelbene told his squad during Tuesday's tactical session. 'We must stay compact and avoid unnecessary risks.' Masry conducted their final training session on Tuesday evening at the match venue following a light workout on Monday at Major General Isamuhiyo Stadium. Simba topped their group in the earlier rounds of the competition. They will rely heavily on home support in Dar es Salaam as they seek to overturn the deficit. The Tanzanian club has built a strong continental reputation in recent seasons and is expected to adopt an aggressive approach from the start. The winner will face either Egypt's Zamalek or South Africa's Stellenbosch in the semifinals. Late Ebuka strike puts Al Masry in comfortable lead over Simba

Al Masry put up a strong performance at home to edge Simba in Suez during a high-paced TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Quarter-Final first leg clash on Wednesday evening. Following a frantic start with both sides looking for an early lead, the hosts eventually settle into the match and took control of proceedings. With a more controlled approach to the tie, Abderrahim Deghmoum found the opener in the 16th minute to give Al Masry the much-needed goal to settle the nerves. Simba would not let go of the belief of a comeback, as they continued sending numbers forward, but a disciplined and resolute Al Masry defense kept the Tanzanian giants at bay. Coming back into the second half, both sides continued from where they left off with a high-octane pace to the clash. While both sides enjoying a fair amount of possession, none could break each other's last line of defense, with both sides lacking that final defense splitting pass. It was however in the dying minutes of the tie that Nigerian forward, John Ebuka sealed an emphatic and hard-fought victory for the Egyptians in the 89th minute as he fired home a goal that gave his side a confidence boosting two-goal cushion ahead of the return leg next week.
