Joint Action Committee seeks amendment to recruitment rules in Puducherry
The Joint Action Committee of Puducherry Electricity Department Engineer and Employees Welfare Association has urged the Puducherry Government to amend the Recruitment Rules for redesignated posts of employees belonging to various cadres in the Department and ratify them at the earliest.
A spokesperson of JAC said over 2,000 employees were left in the lurch since the revised Recruitment Rules were yet to be framed. Though the posts have been redesignated, the employees were yet to receive promotion and wage hike. Workers attached to the JAC will picket the office of the Secretary to Government (Electricity) and the Puducherry Electricity Department on July 3 to highlight their grievances.
The JAC said in a statement the protest was necessitated by the department's failure to address several workers' grievances that was degrading the efficiency of the power sector.
The JAC has also demanded that the ad hoc posts of engineers and workers working in the department should be regularised and the benefits of the Central Pay Commission be immediately passed on to employees.
