Anti-Prime Day Deal: Google Nest Audio Speaker Is 50% Off at Best Buy

Smart speakers have been around for a while and are often used as the centerpiece in smart homes to play music. You can also talk to them and issue commands like turning off lights or preheating your oven. If you're looking for deals during Amazon's Prime Day sale, many smart speakers are on sale. But why not expand the search with an anti-Prime Day deal? Here's where Best Buy's "Black Friday in July" discounts come in. The Google Nest Audio is a pretty good speaker, and it's 50% off right now, marked down to $50. We took a closer look at the Google Nest Audio when it launched in 2020. It's a wired speaker, so it'll need to hang out next to an outlet. It has touch-sensitive buttons on top to control things like play and pause, volume and more. The Nest Audio looks like a Google speaker through and through, with the hallmark fabric wrapping. Those with the old Google Home could also take this opportunity to upgrade, as our review notes that the sound quality is "absolutely better" than its predecessor. The only problem we could find is that you may need to keep the volume a little higher than normal to get the sound you want. The Nest Audio is an excellent bookshelf speaker, especially at its discounted price. Chris Monroe/CNET I don't have experience with the Nest Audio, but I do own a Google Home Hub that has been dutifully sitting in my kitchen, pumping out jams while I cook since I received it as a Christmas present some years ago. The experience is a little different since mine has a display, but the Home Hub works perfectly with voice commands, and the Nest Audio will do just as well at turning off your lights or answering questions. We looked around, and it seems this deal is only available at Best Buy. This is doubly nice since you can pick up the speaker in-store today if you don't want to wait for shipping. Let CNET help you find deals. Sign up for our text service. It's free, easy to use, and it'll help you navigate Amazon Prime Day without being glued to your phone all day. Smart speakers can be a big decision since many smart homes are based around them. Choosing an ecosystem can have an impact in the long run. If you're not a Google fan, we have a list of the best smart speakers on the market from Amazon, Apple and Sonos. No, really, you should consider getting two Getting one of these smart speakers for half off is a heck of a deal, no matter which way you look at it. However, I'd argue to consider buying two. It's essentially a buy-one-get-one proposition at that point. The reason is that these speakers can be set up as a stereo pair, giving you a more immersive music experience. We note in our review that the channel separation is quite good, and $100 for a set of stereo speakers that can also answer questions, turn off lights and do other stuff is a surprisingly easy deal to recommend. Even if you don't go that route, 50% off a smart speaker is a deal that speaks for itself, pun squarely intended.

Why US Shoppers' Spending Online Could Be 'Equivalent to Two Black Fridays' This Week

Amazon's annual 'Prime Day' sale kicks off Tuesday and is projected to boost online spending to a record $23.8 billion across U.S. retailers, according to an Adobe forecast released Monday. Adobe said U.S. retailers are expected to discount their products by between 10% and 24% off the listed price, with apparel seen having the biggest discounts. Shoppers are also increasingly using generative AI to scout out (AMZN) annual 'Prime Day' sale kicks off Tuesday and is projected to boost online spending to a record $23.8 billion across U.S. retailers, according to an Adobe forecast released Monday, thanks to heavy discounts across a host of products including apparel, electronics, and appliances. After sales hit an all-time high during last year's event, Amazon has extended this year's sale to four days from two. Adobe projected U.S. sales from July 8 to July 11 to jump 28.4% year-over-year, or rise by $9.6 billion compared to the same period last year. 'This is equivalent to two Black Fridays, which drove $10.8 billion in online spend during the 2024 holiday shopping season,' the report said. Shopping on mobile devices could also hit a new high, estimated at 52.5% of online sales. Adobe said U.S. retailers are expected to discount their products by between 10% and 24% off the listed price, with apparel having the biggest discounts. "Consumers are expected to 'trade up' to higher-ticket items, driven by strong discounts," Adobe said, adding that budget-conscious shoppers are also increasingly using generative AI to scout out deals, "getting a head start on back-to-school shopping." Adobe said its forecast is based on an analysis of more than 1 trillion visits to U.S. retail ecommerce sites, 100 million SKUs, and 18 product categories. An Amazon spokesperson said in response to a request for comment from Investopedia that the company doesn't "speculate on performance, but know[s] saving is important to our Prime members, now more than ever." Amazon shares were little changed in recent trading Monday. They've gained close to 2% so far this year. Read the original article on Investopedia

Details 30% off select mattresses See at Leesa Close Is Prime Day a good time to buy a mattress? This July's Prime Day is as good a time as ever to buy your next bed. I've been doing this long enough to know the standard sales from each brand, and I can tell you that these sales match those offered on Presidents Day and Memorial Day, especially considering that this year's July Prime Day is right after Fourth of July. That also means that if you can't afford a mattress right now, you can just catch the next holiday. Most brands run sales within a set range for every season. For example, Saatva's best sale is generally $600 off mattresses, while Nectar often runs up to 50% off sales for its beds. Should you shop Amazon Prime Day mattresses if you couldn't shop on July 4th? Amazon Prime Day starts on July 8, and we expect plenty of mattress deals across Amazon. There's a very good chance that many online bed brands will continue to extend their Fourth of July sales to compete with Amazon's event. If you're looking for beds specially sold on Amazon, like Rolanstar, Siena or the Ashley Home Signature, then waiting for Prime Day is a good idea. However, if you want a bed from a brand like Saatva, Casper or Purple, I wouldn't wait. Most lingering sales are only going to be around for a short period of time, and I doubt they will be significantly better than right now. Most brands have a set sale range they offer across holidays.

How we choose deals CNET has a team of shopping experts and deal hunters who've operated across major sales events for many years, making sure you understand when a deal is worth taking advantage of and when it's worth skipping. Whether it's for Black Friday, Prime Day or the Fourth of July, we have the expertise to make sure you get the best deal possible. To do this, we look for real discounts, quality reviews and remaining sale time when choosing an offer to show you. Real discounts mean real discounts. We look at the price history for that product to make sure no manufacturers are inflating prices to make the discount seem more substantial than it is. Quality reviews are equally important for any product, but particularly for deeply discounted items. If it breaks the first time you use it, the discount isn't really worthwhile. Remaining sale time is a huge part of our vetting process. If a deal seems like it will only be around for a short while or will only be available for the remaining stock, we'll let you know in advance, so you don't return later only to be disappointed. We are also considering the rising costs associated with tariffs to help you find items worth buying now.
