Kansas City Chiefs cut Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Justyn Ross days before training camp
Kansas City Chiefs will head into training camp next week without wide receiver Justyn Ross. The 25-year-old has been cut - reportedly at his own request - by the Chiefs days before they step up their preparations for the new season, with camp starting July 22. Wide receiver Ross was part of the Chiefs teams that won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2023 and 2024 but didn't play in either showpiece game. He leaves Kansas City looking to rebuild his career in the NFL. He spent three seasons with the Chiefs but only played in 2023 and 2024. His career stats of six catches for 53 yards all occurred in 2023 but at 25, and a standout player from his college days in Clemson, he has plenty to offer. Injuries blighted Ross's time with the team - he needed surgery on his spine and foot during his time at Arrowhead. And in October 2023, he made headlines for the wrong reasons. He was arrested in Kansas on charges of criminal damage. The charged were termined in November 2023. Andy Reid is looking to rejuvinate his offense ahead of the new season after his team were blown away in the Super Bowl by Philadelphia Eagles. Injuries played their part last season - Rashee Rice missed most of the campaign with an ACL tear and Hollywood Brown's shoulder surgery saw him miss significant time. Travis Kelce's struggles for top form have been well documented too, but the tight end has been working hard in the offseason to make sure he starts 2025 in the best condition possible. The Chiefs begin the campaign in Brazil, facing AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo on September 5.

Kansas City Chiefs waive promising prospect WR Justyn Ross
According to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs will immediately change their wide receiver depth chart. Justyn Ross was waived after four years on the team, filled with high hopes but diluted by injuries and other Pelissero shared on social media, Ross himself appears to have forced the decision."Justyn Ross asked for his release last week and the Chiefs granted it today, I'm told," posted Pelissero, "After four seasons in Kansas City, the onetime Clemson star gets a fresh start and should have interest." Former Clemson star wide receiver Justyn Ross waived by the Kansas City Chiefs
Clemson football: All-time rushing leaders in Tigers history entering 2025 season Former Clemson standout Justyn Ross is officially moving on from Kansas City. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs waived Ross on Wednesday after the wide receiver requested his release. Ross had been on a reserve/future deal and was hoping for a fresh start elsewhere after spending parts of the last three seasons with the organization. He was promoted from the practice squad ahead of this year's AFC Championship Game but saw limited action overall, appearing in just two games during the 2024 season without a catch. Across two years of active playing time, Ross recorded six receptions for 53 yards and made one start over 12 total appearances. His NFL journey began in 2022, but a preseason foot surgery led to a stint on injured reserve during his rookie season. Ross was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school and made an immediate splash at Clemson. Despite missing the 2020 season due to a serious neck/spine injury, he finished his collegiate career with 158 catches for 2,379 yards and 20 touchdowns in 39 games. His impact still ranks among the program's best: tied for fifth all-time in receiving touchdowns, 10th in receiving yards, and 11th in total receptions. Now healthy and looking to reset his professional career, Ross will search for a new NFL home. Justyn Ross asked for his release last week and the #Chiefs granted it today, I'm told. After four seasons in Kansas City, the onetime Clemson star gets a fresh start and should have interest. Chiefs cut Justyn Ross
The Chiefs will open training camp without wide receiver Justyn Ross. Ross is getting waived today, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. As a freshman at Clemson in 2018, Ross looked like football's next superstar wide receiver, totaling 1,000 receiving yards on the season and catching six passes for 153 yards and a touchdown in Clemson's win over Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. But Ross's freshman season remains his career highlight. Ross took a step backward with a less impressive season in 2019, missed the entire 2020 season with a spinal injury, and returned and was not the same player in 2021. Ross went undrafted in 2022. After signing with the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie, Ross has spent the last three years in Kansas City but hasn't played much, with just six career catches. Now he'll be looking for a new place to play.
