2 Keshena-area women arrested after high-speed pursuit in Fond du Lac County

FOND DU LAC – Two Keshena-area women were arrested Monday, June 30, after a 10.6-mile pursuit through Fond du Lac, according to Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office. At about 9:24 a.m., a deputy in a K-9 team saw a vehicle with an equipment violation heading north on Interstate 41 near County Road B and caught up with the vehicle near the interchange at U.S. 151, just as the driver failed to obey a traffic signal turning north onto U.S. 151. When the vehicle stopped briefly on Police Memorial Drive, the deputy watched as the driver switched seats with a passenger, and then the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The high-speed pursuit that followed traveled south on Martin Avenue, then U.S. 151. Deputies anticipated the suspects were trying to return to I-41, so when the vehicle entered the interstate, another deputy successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle slowed and entered the east ditch, then both occupants fled on foot. The first deputy pursued with his K-9 partner and a second K-9 team, apprehending both suspects and taking them into custody. Two deputies received minor injuries during the incident, but no property damage was reported. The original driver, a 42-year-old woman, faces charges including fleeing and eluding, party to a crime; two counts of resisting/obstructing an officer causing injury; possession with intent to deliver Schedule I and II narcotics, party to a crime; possession of THC, party to a crime; possession of drug paraphernalia, party to a crime; and felon in possession of a dangerous weapon. Police execute search warrant at Bradford home after reports of youths with a firearm

Police are warning the public about the serious consequences of carrying and misusing replica firearms following an incident this week that resulted in a search warrant being carried out in a Bradford neighbourhood. South Simcoe police say they received a report about two youths in possession of a firearm on Monday. The situation led to a search warrant being issued and officers, plus the K9 unit, showing up at a home on Carter Street the following morning. Officers recovered a realistic replica handgun during the search and have since worked to educate the family and those directly involved about the seriousness of incidents involving imitation weapons. 'Due to the nature of this incident involving minors, no further information will be released,' the police service noted in a Wednesday release. Police say reports about firearms are taken very seriously and are treated with urgency due to the potential risk they pose. 'Even when a firearm is not real, its appearance can lead to significant public concern and a heightened police response. Replica firearms can be easily mistaken for real weapons, especially in public settings, posing a serious risk and potentially dangerous, and life-threatening consequences,' South Simcoe police stated. Following this incident, the service is urging parents and guardians to teach their kids about the risks of carrying replica firearms.
