Suspect on the loose after break-in and assault in Windsor

Early Sunday morning, a man broke into a south Windsor residence and attacked a woman in her home.
Police responded to the break-in shortly before 3 a.m. in the 3300 block of Askin Avenue.
The adult woman was asleep when an unknown man entered her home and assaulted her. She fought back and after a brief struggle, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The assault resulted in minor physical injuries of the victim. Police, assisted by a K9 unit, searched the area but haven't located the suspect.
The incident is believed to be targeted and isolated, and investigators are asking for any dashcam or home surveillance footage between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

A 41-year-old man is facing assault and child endangerment charges after he allegedly dangled a child over a balcony in Charlottetown. Charlottetown Police Services received a call around 5:15 p.m. Saturday from a concerned citizen who reported an assault at a residence on Upper Prince Street. The caller also told police they had also seen a man dangling a child over a third-storey balcony. Officers arrested a man at the scene and removed two children from the residence. Police say the children are both safe and receiving support through Child and Family Services. The man is facing the following charges: child endangerment two counts of assault two counts of uttering threats disturbing the peace He was remanded into custody and appeared in court on Monday. (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Christinne Muschi) An 80-year-old man who was riding an electric scooter is in hospital after being trapped underneath an SUV in Montreal's Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough Tuesday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 9:50 a.m. about the incident in the parking lot of a store on the corner of Ontario and Aylwin streets. 'When police arrived on the scene, they located the driver of the electric scooter, an 80-year-old man, stuck under the sports utility vehicle,' said Véronique Dubuc, a spokesperson with Montreal police. She adds that first responders were able to pull the man out from under the vehicle. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. 'According to the initial information obtained from witnesses, the SUV was backing into a parking space,' said Dubuc. 'While backing up, it struck the electric scooter behind it.' A security perimeter has been set up to allow investigators to better understand the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Woman from Almonte, Ont. in critical condition after tree falls on her

Ontario Provincial Police say a 34-year-old woman is in critical condition in hospital after a tree fell on her in Almonte Tuesday morning. OPP say it happened at around 8:21 a.m. as the woman was walking across the intersection of Ann and Church streets. Police initially identified the victim as a 16-year-old girl, but later edited posts on social media to say she is actually 34 years old. 'We had earlier indicated the victim was 16 due to an issue with identification. The victim is indeed 34,' the OPP said in a comment on their Facebook post. The Township of Mississippi Mills is asking residents to avoid the area of area of Elgin, Church, Ann and High streets in Almonte, as roads are closed. OPP say roads are expected to be closed for several hours for the investigation.
