CRDA-IGBC program held to promote Net Zero goals in Andhra
VIJAYAWADA: In a key step toward achieving Andhra Pradesh's Net Zero target by 2040 and the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), in collaboration with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), held a highlevel capacity-building programme for senior officials in Vijayawada on Friday. The session, held at a city hotel, was attended by over 50 senior officials from APCRDA, including the Engineer-in-Chief, Chief Engineer (H&B), Director (Planning), Director (Environment), and heads of key departments. The training focused on IGBC's Green Building Rating Systems, aimed at integrating sustainability into future infrastructure projects in the Capital Region. Commissioner K Kanna Babu, delivering the keynote address, reiterated APCRDA's commitment to developing a sustainable Amaravati. 'Our goal is to make Amaravati a model green capital. Our upcoming head office will be a flagship Net Zero project,' he said, adding that IGBC's support is crucial in achieving the 2040 target. Amaravati's master plan earlier received IGBC's Green Cities Platinum rating at the 2018 Happy Cities Summit, making it the first capital city in India to be certified by design. Vijay Sai Meka, chairman of the IGBC Amaravati Chapter, commended APCRDA's efforts. Other key participants included Ganesh Sai Chaitanya Gali, chapter co-chair, and Kiran Kumar Paruchuri, executive vice president of NAREDCO. They also announced the upcoming Green Andhra Summit on August 7. IGBC senior counsellor Sundeep V reaffirmed the council's role as a knowledge partner in AP's green transformation.

CRDA, IGBC join hands for green development
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), in collaboration with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – conducted a capacity-building programme to accelerate and achieve green and net-zero development goals. The workshop provided detailed training on IGBC Green Building Rating Systems, empowering officials to incorporate sustainable development principles into all future infrastructure initiatives within the Capital Region. Addressing the workshop in Vijayawada on Friday, CRDA Commissioner K Kanna Babu reiterated the CRDA's vision for a sustainable and resilient Amaravati. Every CRDA project is designed to integrate sustainable practices and green building principles. It is worth mentioning that Andhra Pradesh has been a frontrunner in promoting sustainable urbanisation by integrating green building principles into its planning and regulatory frameworks. Amaravati's Master Plan was awarded the IGBC Green Cities 'Platinum Rating' during the 2018 Happy Cities Summit, making it India's first capital city to be IGBC certified by design.

WB-ADB joint mission begins in Amaravati
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), in coordination with Amaravati Development Corporation Ltd. (ADCL), hosted the inaugural day of the World Bank-Asian Development Bank (WB-ADB) Joint Implementation Support Mission in Amaravati on Monday. The meetings focused on project implementation progress, capacity-building, and infrastructure and governance reforms. The plenary session was chaired by APCRDA Commissioner K Kanna Babu, with Additional Commissioners G Surya Sai Praveenchand and Mallarapu Naveen, alongside ADCL officials, World Bank and ADB delegates, and project consultants. APCRDA presented updates on manpower, project milestones, and mission goals. The transport session included presentations by BRTS consultants on Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) and Non-Motorized Transport (NMT), with APCRDA and ADCL engineering teams participating in technical reviews. Public-Private Partnership (PPP) progress was discussed, with PwC and APCRDA showcasing ongoing and potential models.

WB, ADB teams discuss Amaravati development
Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority along with Amaravati Development Corporation Ltd on Monday hosted the opening day of the World Bank–Asian Development Bank (WB–ADB) Joint Implementation Support Mission in Amaravati. The inaugural plenary session was led by APCRDA commissioner K Kanna Babu, additional commissioners G Surya Sai Praveenchand, and Mallarapu Naveen, along with officials from ADCL and a full delegation of World Bank, ADB, and Project consultants. The APCRDA team presented an overview of manpower deployment, Amaravati Project progress and WB Mission outline. During the Transportation session, discussions with BRTS consultants focused on incorporating Multi-Modal Integration and Non-Motorised Transport components to meet requirements. The engineering and planning teams from APCRDA and ADCL were present for technical reviews. A dedicated session on Public-Private Partnerships included presentations from PWC and APCRDA, reviewing current transactions and TA support from the banks. Capacity building needs and next steps were also identified. The World Bank expressed strong interest in supporting PPP models moving forward. Simultaneously, another session on Affordable Housing reviewed progress under housing construction, green certification, and the planned stakeholder workshops. The day concluded with a site visit to Amaravati Government Complex housing projects to assess green design integration and construction progress. The mission also commended the Environment, Health, and Safety efforts under the Construction Environment and Social Management Project for their location-specific detailing and continuous review mechanisms. In the Internet-Cum-Technology session, it was clarified that the Digital Twin platform and the broader ICT system are being aligned, with the platform rollout scheduled for August 15.

Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority launches 2 initiatives to upskill women & youth
Vijayawada: Aimed at empowering women and equipping youth with employment-ready skills in the Amaravati region, the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has launched two initiatives wherein 368 self help group (SHG) women, who are members of the gender committees, are being sensitised on the issue of gender-based violence. The sessions focus on prevention of sexual harassment at workplace through the POSH Act and aim to build awareness on the roles and responsibilities of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the Act. These trained committee members will be instrumental in addressing and managing any gender-related grievances that may arise during capital development in the backdrop of the ongoing capital development works and the expected inflow of workers at construction sites. The initiative also highlights various livelihood opportunities available for women in the evolving economic landscape of Amaravati. Under the initiative, the SHG women are being guided on how to identify and utilise these opportunities to achieve greater financial independence and empowerment. While data entry operator course began on May 12 with 30 participants, an additional batch of 30 participants attended classes on the course on May 20 at Mangalagiri govt college. Subsequently, a training course on front office training with 28 participants began on May 26. The CRDA said that all the training courses are scheduled to be completed between June and August. APCRDA commissioner K Kanna Babu said that the above initiatives underline the CRDA's commitment to building a safe, skilled, and inclusive Amaravati by supporting both women and youth through targeted education, awareness, and training efforts.
