WB-ADB joint mission begins in Amaravati

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), in coordination with Amaravati Development Corporation Ltd. (ADCL), hosted the inaugural day of the World Bank-Asian Development Bank (WB-ADB) Joint Implementation Support Mission in Amaravati on Monday. The meetings focused on project implementation progress, capacity-building, and infrastructure and governance reforms.
The plenary session was chaired by APCRDA Commissioner K Kanna Babu, with Additional Commissioners G Surya Sai Praveenchand and Mallarapu Naveen, alongside ADCL officials, World Bank and ADB delegates, and project consultants. APCRDA presented updates on manpower, project milestones, and mission goals.
The transport session included presentations by BRTS consultants on Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) and Non-Motorized Transport (NMT), with APCRDA and ADCL engineering teams participating in technical reviews. Public-Private Partnership (PPP) progress was discussed, with PwC and APCRDA showcasing ongoing and potential models.

In a major step towards improving Pune's urban mobility, the first trial run on the Metro Line 3, connecting Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, was successfully conducted on Friday afternoon, between Maan Depot and PMR 4 station. The PMRDA now hopes to open the Maan-Balewadi Phata stretch for public use by the end of this year. Four modern metro train sets have already arrived, each consisting of three air-conditioned coaches and with a capacity of about 1,000 passengers. (HT) The metro project is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model between PMRDA and Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd, a consortium led by Tata Group and Siemens. Launched on November 25, 2021, the project is currently 87% complete, with the remaining work in its final phase. The official deadline for completion is March 2026. Metro Line 3 spans a total of 23.3 km and includes 23 stations. It will also feature seamless interchanges with existing metro lines, providing fast and safe transport options for the city's growing population. Four modern metro train sets have already arrived, each consisting of three air-conditioned coaches and with a capacity of about 1,000 passengers.

DICGC Pays Rs 13.77 Crore to Depositors of Scam-Hit Navodaya Urban Co-op Bank

Nagpur: The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) has disbursed ₹13.77 crore to 2,018 depositors of the scam-hit Navodaya Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd in Nagpur, cooperation minister Babasaheb Patil informed the legislative council on Friday. The DICGC is making payments as per the rules, providing insurance cover of up to ₹1 lakh per depositor. The minister was responding to a question raised by BJP legislator Sandip Joshi regarding the status of action against Nagpur's Navodaya Urban Co-op Bank Ltd and the Ramanaand Multistate Co-op Credit Society, Thane. Both institutions have faced financial crises, leaving depositors concerned about the recovery of their money. Patil informed the concil that Navodaya Urban Co-op Bank was placed under administration in October 2018 following concerns over financial mismanagement, and an administrator was appointed to manage the bank's affairs. At the time of the takeover, the bank held deposits worth ₹52.57 crore belonging to 12,847 depositors, while its outstanding loan portfolio stood at ₹76.31 crore. An audit for the period between 2015 and 2017, conducted by the district special auditor for co-operative societies in Bhandara, revealed that the bank incurred losses of ₹45.58 crore due to faulty administrative decisions and financial mismanagement. Based on these findings, an FIR was registered at Dhantoli police station in 2019, and the economic offences wing (EOW) of the Nagpur police is currently investigating the case. Regarding the Ramanaand Multistate Co-op Credit Society, Thane, Patil clarified that since the society is registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Union ministry of cooperation. The state government has no legal authority to take direct action against its administration, apart from seeking liquidation or ordering an inspection under specific provisions.

The rankings of NIT Rourkela remained under the top 40 for the year 2024. The Institute also ranked in the QS World University Ranking 2024 and achieved a position of 291-300 under the Asia category, and 67 under the Southern Asia University category. On the other hand, in the TIMES Higher Education Ranking 2025, it got 189th slot among Asia universities ranking and in a rank band of 601-800, for Engineering and Technology (by subject). IIIT Kalyani Meanwhile, in the overall category, IIIT Kalyani did not appear in the 2024 list under the overall category. The Institute does not rank under the research, engineering or architecture category of the NIRF 2024 rankings. NIT Rourkela In the Odisha-based technology institute, the highest pay during the placement in BTech for the academic session 2023-24 was Rs 51.03 LPA. On the other hand, in 2022-2023, the highest pay was Rs 52.89 LPA. While in the academic year 2021-22, the highest pay was Rs 46.08 LPA. In 2023-24, 121 students registered for the placement, and the Institute received 130 job offers. IIIT Kalyani In the case of IIIT Kalyani, companies like Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, IBM, PWC, Yellowclass, Samsung, Ericsson, Goldman Sachs, ShareChat, OLA, Mihup, TCG, Deloitte, Jio, Capgemini, MAQ Software, among others, have recruited students from the Institute, mentions the website. The Institute does not mention ECE placement records for 2020-2024, as the ECE programme was introduced in the Institute in the year 2021. Therefore, no students were graduating in the time period aforementioned. NIT Rourkela There are various executive MBA programmes also, where the admissions are completed through CAT scores. For the two-year MBA and three-year Executive MBA, admissions are based on CAT or some other national-level management entrance exams. Admissions are also conducted through JAM, GATE, and DASA (for foreign students). The MA programme of the NIT focuses on the intersection of the humanities and social sciences. With an MA in Development Studies, the Institute hosts PhD programmes in Anthropology, English, Psychology, Economics, Sociology, and Sanskrit. IIIT Kalyani On the other hand, IIIT Kalyani has two programmes in engineering, ECE and CSE. It has an MTech course in AI and data science, and in advanced communication systems and signal processing.
