According to a report by Times Now, this new service will allow travellers to transport their private cars by train between Kolad in Maharashtra and Verna in Goa, while they ride along in connected passenger service is expected to be a game-changer for people travelling to Goa, especially during holidays and festivals. At present, the road journey from Mumbai or Pune to Goa often takes 20 to 22 hours due to heavy traffic and winding ghat roads. Matsyagandha Express to arrive late on July 23, 24
Train No. 12619, Mumbai LTT-Mangaluru Central Matsyagandha Express, will be regulated for 55 minutes and 20 minutes, respectively, between Udupi and Mulki on Wednesday and Thursday to facilitate signal points replacement at Surathkal Railway Station. A release from Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. stated that it would operate a non-interlocking block for the replacement of points No. 101 and 102 at Surathkal from July 23 to July 26, resulting in the detention of some trains and consequent delays. Matsyagandha's regulation en route could delay its arrival at Mangaluru Central. Train No. 20646, Mangaluru Central-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express, would be regulated for 35 minutes at Thokur on July 23. Block at Loliem and Asnoti section In another release, KRCL said it would operate a traffic and power block for PTFE Erection at overhead equipment mast between Loliem and Asnoti section on July 24 between 10.20 a.m. and 1.50 p.m. Consequently, Train No. 56616 Mangaluru Central-Madgaon Passenger of July 24 would be regulated for 90 minutes between Kumta-Karwar section. Train No. 56615, Madgaon-Mangaluru Central Passenger, of July 24 would leave Madgaon at 3.10 p.m. instead of 2.10 p.m. Train No. 09057, Udhna-Mangaluru Junction Special, of July 23 would be regulated for 30 minutes on Madgaon-Canacona section, the release added.

Ro-Ro on rail service from Kolad to Verna
Panaji: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), which has offered Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) services in India since 1999, has now extended this innovative freight solution to private car owners with the launch of a new Ro-Ro service between Kolad, Maharashtra, and Verna in Goa. The new Ro-Ro car service will commence on Aug 23 from Kolad and Aug 24 from Verna and will operate on alternate days in each direction until Sep 11. It will run end-to-end between Kolad and Verna, with departures at 5pm and arrivals at 5am the following day. Customers must report at the starting station by 2pm, three hours prior to departure. The specially designed rake can accommodate 40 cars per trip, with two cars loaded on each of the 20 wagons. The freight charge is Rs 7,875 (inclusive of GST) per car. An initial registration fee of Rs 4,000 is payable at the time of booking, with the balance to be settled on the day of the journey. Additionally, a maximum of three persons per car may travel in the attached 3AC coach or second seating coach by paying the prescribed fare (Rs 935 per passenger for 3AC or Rs 190 per passenger for second seating).

Konkan Railway to introduce Ro-Ro car transport facility between Kolad and Verna
Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) will introduce a new Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) facility for private car owners from Kolad in Maharashtra to Verna in Goa from August 23. KRCL, which was the first to introduce Ro-Ro in India in 1999 for carrying loaded trucks, is now providing the same model for motor cars. The Ro-Ro car service will operate on alternative days from both sides till September 11. The service will leave at 5 pm from Verna or Kolad and arrive at the destination at 5 am the following day. However, the customers are expected to report at the originating station by 2 pm. KRCL will use a specially constructed rake capable of carrying 40 cars, with two cars on each of the 20 wagons. KRCL has set the freight charge at Rs 7,875 per car, including GST. The customers will have to make a registration payment of Rs 4,000 during booking and clear the remaining amount on the date of travel. KRCL permits a maximum of three individuals per vehicle to travel in an attached coach. Travellers can opt for 3 AC at Rs 935 or Second Seating at Rs 190. The bookings for these services will be from July 21 and close on August 13. The service can be booked both in offline and online modes. If it gets bookings less than 16 in number, KRCL officials said they will cancel the journey and refund the entire registration amount. 'KRCL has decided to start this Ro-Ro to mitigate road congestion, fuel guzzling and vehicle emissions on the Konkan corridor. By extending this model to automobiles, KRCL seeks to offer a safer and more economic mode of transport for long-distance commuters,' said a KRCL official.
