Horrifying bee attack leaves 24 injured and three fighting for their lives

An elderly woman suffered 25 bee stings, while another victim had a cardiac arrest after the swarm descended on the streets of Aurillac, France, leaving three people fighting for their lives A horrifying bee attack has left 24 people injured and three fighting for their lives. One of the victims, an elderly woman, suffered as many as 25 separate stings during the attack in Aurillac in the south of France on Sunday morning. Paramedics arrived to a panicked scene outside the Hôtel de Bordeaux, with tourists and locals scrambling to dodge their buzzing attackers. ‌ Police set up a cordon to keep tourists away from the scene before a beekeeper was called in to get rid of the creatures. It's understood the three victims in critical condition were allergic to bees and had suffered a severe adverse reaction. One of the women suffered a cardiac arrest, but thankfully firefighters were able to revive her. ‌ According to French media outlets, the bees were being kept on the roof of the hotel building - but swarmed on to the streets below after their apiary was attacked by a swarm of Asian hornets, FranceBleau reports. All of the victims were rushed to the Henri Mondor hospital in Aurillac. A spokesman for the local police said that the situation is now under control and that the bees have stopped rampaging. The town's mayor, Pierre Mathonier, praised the efforts of the emergency services for how they secured the scene and treated the victims. 'There were hives installed on the roof terrace of the Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux for over 10 years. Asian hornets must have threatened the hive, which caused the bees to become aggressive", he said. ‌ "These aggressive bees spread to Avenue de la République and attacked passersby." "The beekeeper had never experienced such behaviour from bees. It raises questions about the presence of hives in the city centre. "It could have been much more serious. It's shocking. A 78-year-old person was stung 25 times." ‌ The town hall stated that the colony will either be moved to a new location of culled. Earlier this year, a swarm of bees attacked and killed a terrified man while he was mowing his lawn in Texas. Stephen Daniel had been mowing the lawn close to an abandoned building near Friendship Park in Eastland, Texas, on April 27, when he accidentally disturbed a large beehive. Within moments the bees swarmed Stephen as he raced toward his vehicle. But as he tried to escape, he ended up in Chrishae Cooper's front garden. She watched on as Stephen struggled to fight off the bees and alerted emergency services. Police were then dispatched to the scene in an attempt to save Daniel's life. But despite his efforts to escape, the bees continued to sting and attack Stephen. He was later rushed to hospital with severe injuries. Doctors attempted to save Stephen's life but he later died at the hospital from circulatory collapse due to the stings. A beekeeper was later called to remove the hive from the abandoned property, network KTXS reported. According to the US-based Mayo Clinic, the effects a bee sting can range from painful swelling to a life-threatening allergic reaction. If you have one type of reaction once, it does not mean you will have the same reaction every time you or stung, or that your reaction will be more severe.

Texas Station Damaged by Winds Gusting Over 80MPH

KTXS in Abilene, Texas was damaged by winds gusting over 80 MPH on Sunday evening. The ABC affiliate said no one was hurt during what it initially called a tornado. It also said it's switching over to YouTube to deliver its newscasts. Meteorologist Caiden Dinkins said The NWS came out to survey the area and, 'things are leaning towards very strong straight-line winds.' At approximately 11 p.m. on June 8 during a severe weather event, a tornado struck the KTXS facility, causing significant damage, destroying our tower and impacting much of the building. We are thankful there were no injuries at the station. Our team is working quickly to assess the damage and find a solution to bring KTXS back on air as soon as possible. KTXS The station said the winds blew the KTXS STL tower from the back of the building to the front lawn. It also said the winds caved in the garage and the roof of the studio was blown away. 'You don't ever expect to experience something like that,' said Dinkins. 'The power went out in the studio and the whole entire station and we were walking back into the studio. You just feel this, almost, suction kind of taking you with these winds as this roof is pulling off. My ears popped, I felt like I was gravitating towards that area that was opening and me and Mark just, all we could do was take cover and hope for the best.'

Texas man dies in bee attack despite frantic escape attempt that had him drive through neighbour's yard

A Texas man was killed by a swarm of bees after disturbing a hive while mowing the lawn — despite a desperate escape attempt that saw him jump in his truck and crash into a neighbor's front yard, police said. Stephen Daniel was doing yardwork near an abandoned building in Friendship Park in Eastland on April 27 when he apparently roused the vicious pests and was quickly overcome, KTXS-TV News reported. Daniel frantically jumped into his vehicle to get away, but the bees followed him inside and continued to sting him until he crashed into Chrishae Cooper's property, the outlet said. 'Before I walked up there I just started dialing 911 because I didn't know, like he was in someone's yard at first,' Cooper told KTXS. 'Then you got closer you could just see like something swarming. 'He was trying to still escape from the bees 'cause he started driving away, and he made it onto the street. But the police finally showed up and turns out he was literally getting attacked by a lot of bees.' Chilling Ring camera footage from Cooper's home shows the truck as it rolled onto her lawn. Eastland cops were dispatched to the scene on reports of a car crash around 4:30 p.m. and arrived to find 'the driver of the vehicle was being swarmed by bees,' the department said on Facebook last week. 'Officers immediately evacuated the driver from the area and placed him inside a police vehicle a distance from the initial attack to escape further bee stings,' the release said. 'Officers requested an ambulance and the driver while in the ambulance became unresponsive and stopped breathing. 'Life saving measures were administered and the driver was rushed to Eastland Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to the effects of the bee stings,' police said. According to KTXS, Daniel died as a result of circulatory collapse. The freak incident is actually more common than most people realize: The Center for Disease Control and Prevention said an average of 72 Americans died every year as a result hornet, wasp or bee stings. Horror as swarm of bees attack and kill terrified man as he mows lawn

According to the US-based Mayo Clinic a bee sting can range from causing the victim pain and swelling to resulting in a life-threatening allergic reaction. It added if you have one type of reaction once, it does not mean you will have the same reaction every time you or stung or that your reaction will be more severe. "A severe reaction to a bee sting is potentially life-threatening and requires emergency treatment. This type of reaction is called anaphylaxis," the Mayo Clinic said. "A small percentage of people who are stung by a bee or other insect develop anaphylaxis. It usually happens 15 minutes to an hour after the sting. Symptoms include rash, itching, trouble breathing, swollen tongue, trouble swallowing and tightness in the chest." It added that if you end up getting stung more than a dozen times, you could have a bad reaction that makes you feel quite sick. Symptoms of this include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and light-headedness. ‌ A person should seek immediate care if the reaction suggests a case of anaphylaxis. People, including young children, who have heart problems should also seek immediate care if they are stung multiple times. Tragically, there have been several times where people have been killed after being stung by bees. In February, the Mirror reported a tourist at a popular bird sanctuary died in a freak accident after being attacked by a swarm of killer bees. Sandeep Purohit, 44, was exploring the tourist attraction Karnala Bird Sanctuary, near Mumbai, India, with his wife and son when he was set upon by a swarm of bees. He suffered multiple agonising stings alongside his wife and son, before hitting his head on the floor. Despite the best efforts of doctors, the dad was pronounced dead. Authorities believe he suffered an allergic reaction which resulted in a cardiac arrest.
