Noah Kahan review: US singer 'emotional' while performing biggest headline show at Marlay Park

American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan played his biggest headline show to date in Dublin's Marlay Park on Tuesday night to a crowd of 39,000 people. With the sun setting over Marlay Park, people lay on the grass drinking pints and having chats. There were couples, big groups of friends, parents with kids and some die-hard fans who had been queuing since 10am. But the moment the stage went dark, everyone jumped to their feet. Vermont's finest came out sporting a bright red co-ord, and launched into the opener All My Love. He then acknowledged his outfit choice, joking it was "the elephant in the room". Less striking, but still very cute, was a teddy bear wearing a t-shirt that said 'Marlay Park', sitting on the piano on stage. Kahan, who last played in Ireland at Electric Picnic in 2024, clearly loves performing here. "You guys are the greatest crowds in the world," he said. He performed two unreleased songs last night - Deny, Deny, Deny and The Great Divide. They may be new tracks, but everyone knew the words. We can thank TikTok for that! This continued to be an interactive show. Kahan had said he wasn't going to talk too much, or he would end up embarrassing himself. However, he spent the whole night chatting away on stage. The crowd laughed at every joke and cheered at every compliment. "You guys are making me emotional," he said after You're Gonna Go Far. Later, he took his earpiece out to hear the crowd sing while playing Call Your Mom, telling everyone that they had beautiful voices. "You're like little Hoziers," he said. This was the perfect segway into his performance of Northern Attitude, which has a remix featuring Hozier. Since the Irish singer wasn't there, the crowd filled in perfectly for his iconic yell in the intro. Many were expecting Kahan to end with Orange Juice, as he usually does. Instead, he finished with the song that launched him into stardom, Stick Season. People danced in massive groups, hopping on friends' shoulders. And after a memorable evening, there no sense of 'that'll have to do' as the crowd headed to the exits with Chappell Roan's Hot to Go playing through the speakers. It was evident that Kahan had enjoyed it too. He headed to Instagram, posting "Dublin that was "f****n nuts", and "Dublin y'all can "f****n sing!! That was insane." I'm sure we can expect to see Noah Kahan back here as he said himself, "I'll be back for as long as you'll have me."
