Monsoon session of MP Assembly begins amid light showers of rain and protest from Congress

Bhopal: The Monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly started on Monday amid light showers of rain in the state capital Bhopal, however, the House witnessed some heat on the first day. The session started with customary welcome of Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar by the Leader of House Kailash Vijayvargiya, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Umang Singhar and other senior Ministers in the House. On the first day, the House functioned only for a brief period and was adjourned till 11 a.m. on Tuesday, following paying homage to former leaders who passed away and offering condolences over tragic incidents which occurred in the country, including the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad (Gujarat). An exhibition, highlighting 'Jal Ganga Samvardhan' and achievements of the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav-led BJP government was also set up at courtyard of the Assembly. Chief Minister Yadav and along with Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the exhibition. On the other side, before entering the House, Congress MLAs led by LoP Singhar assembled near Mahatma Gandhi's statue at the Assembly premises and held a symbolic protest, accusing the BJP government of adopting "double standards" on the OBC reservation issue. The Congress MLAs reached the Assembly holding banners and posters, accusing the BJP government of being "Girgit" (chameleon). "The BJP government is not willing to implement 27 per cent reservation policy for OBCs, but the Congress will keep pressing its demand from every stage until the state government makes its stand clear," Singhar said. Congress has made an elaborate plan to corner the BJP government on various key issues throughout the 12-day Monsoon session, as they raised the OBC reservation issue for the first day. However, Congress and BJP here in Madhya Pradesh have been taking each other on the OBC reservation issue since long. The Kamal Nath-led Congress government had increased reservation quota from 14 to 27 per cent in 2019. The matter is being heard in the Supreme Court. Interestingly, the Congress MLAs held a protest despite a directive was issued banning the protest and its use of banners and posters at the Assembly premises. The directive, issued by the Assembly under Standing Order 94 (2), bans symbolic displays, including masks, props, placards, horns and even gestures in the Assembly, terming it 'disruptive'. The move comes in the wake of the Opposition taking recourse to all kinds of symbolic protests such as wearing black masks symbolising government secrecy, displaying fake snakes to highlight unemployment problem and skeleton costumes to expose alleged corruption in the last Assembly session.

Induction Ceremony 2025 and iFactory Lab Inauguration at Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore

Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India – Business Wire India Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences (SUAS), Indore, hosted the Induction Ceremony 2025 along with the inauguration of the iFactory Network Lab. This occasion marked a significant milestone in the journey towards skill-based education and digital manufacturing. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Vinith Kumar Nair extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries. Chief guests at the event included Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Hon'ble Minister for Urban Development, Housing, and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Debashish Chakravorty, Executive Vice President, Piramal Pharma Solutions; Pradip Kopardekar, Director, Kirloskar Management Services Pvt. Ltd. and Centre for Industry 4.0 Lab, Pune; Dr. Anuradda Ganesh, Chairperson, PRMC, Director and Chief Technical Advisor, Cummins India; and Registrar Dr. Manish, Registrar, along with Vice Chancellor Vinith Kumar Nair. Shri Vijayvargiya inaugurated the state-of-the-art iFactory Network Lab, established under the Government of India's Ministry of Heavy Industries' Capital Goods Scheme (Phase II), and implemented by the Centre for Industry 4.0 Lab, Pune. This lab is part of a national initiative to encourage smart and sustainable manufacturing and will serve as a regional hub for digital transformation, offering: • Hands-on training for students and professionals • Support for pilot projects • Digital maturity assessments, especially for MSMEs This iFactory center is one of ten such labs being launched across the country to promote region-specific Industry 4.0 adoption and reinforce the government's vision for a digitally empowered, future-ready manufacturing sector. Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor, addressed the students and elaborated on the university's unique vision. She said, 'The model of a skill university is significantly different from conventional universities. Symbiosis is called a 'University of the Future' because skill-based education is the future of higher education. Over the past 20–25 years of research, we observed that students without formal higher education but possessing practical skills were more employable than highly educated students. Meanwhile, the industry is in urgent need of a skilled workforce. The establishment of Symbiosis Skills University and Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences aims to bridge this workforce gap.' She further added, 'Our education model incorporates modern technology, industry-driven learning, and practical training that prepare students for employment or entrepreneurship. For international students, Symbiosis offers a 'home away from home' experience. Over the past 55 years, Symbiosis has grown into a vast educational ecosystem. In 2013–14, we realized the need to move beyond theoretical learning to focus on practical, employable skills. These two universities train students not only in theory but also in how to apply that knowledge in real-world settings. Our curriculum is designed by industry experts and training is conducted by them as well.' 'Students from conventional education systems often don't know how to handle basic machinery, whereas Symbiosis-trained students excel in practical applications. Internships offer hands-on experience, and 100% attendance is mandatory, which ensures 100% placements. Since our model is based on the German dual-education system, our students are also in demand in German companies. We also focus on English communication, personality development, soft skills, and leadership – all of which help boost students' confidence and performance in job interviews.' 'We offer free interdisciplinary courses, access to advanced labs and infrastructure, and an internship-integrated learning model. These facilities open up job opportunities – but your success will depend on your hard work, integrity, and commitment. The friends you make during this academic year will be your lifelong support system.' Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya fondly recalled his conversation with Dr. S. B. Mujumdar during the establishment of this university. Addressing students, he said, 'Post-2014, India has been undergoing transformational change. Your new ideas can shape the world. While options were limited earlier, today there are countless opportunities. India is on the path to becoming a developed nation, and students have a key role to play in that journey.' Debashish Chakravorty remarked, 'You are growing up alongside your education. If your goals are clear, you will surely succeed. Focus on building your personality. Life is a journey that may include setbacks, but enjoy the process. Today's market offers immense opportunities—put in your best effort and success will follow.' Pradip Kopardekar shared, 'Wherever you go today, technology is present. As India moves toward self-reliance, technology plays a major role. The newly inaugurated iFactory Network Lab will greatly benefit everyone here.' Dr. Anuradda Ganesh, Chairperson, PRMC, Retd. Director and Chief Technical Advisor, Cummins India, added, 'The iFactory Network Lab inaugurated today will provide immense value, shaping students to be industry-ready. This lab is not just a space but a gateway to real-world experience. Digital transformation is emerging as the new face of the future industry.' The induction ceremony concluded with a campus tour and an overview of university facilities organized for the students. Registrar Dr. Manish briefed students about university policies and the code of conduct. Go for PM Surya Ghar scheme if you want cheaper power, says MP Minister

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has urged citizens to embrace solar energy over costly grid power in the state and across India. Making it clear that costly power is no longer an issue, he said, "Nobody cares for costly power anymore - people want quality power." Moreover, those seeking power at a cheaper rate should opt for the 'PM - Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana', as it not only offers affordable electricity but also income opportunities through net metering, the minister said. He said now, continuous power supply has become an issue, not the cost of the power. A comparative analysis of 2025 electricity tariffs revealed that Madhya Pradesh ranks among the top five states with the highest power costs. According to data compiled from regulatory commissions and energy portals, domestic consumers in Madhya Pradesh pay up to ₹7.25 per unit for consumption above 300 units, with fixed charges ranging from ₹30 to ₹100 per kilowatt. Commercial users face rates as high as ₹8.75 per unit, making power a significant expense for businesses, as per the data. Under the scheme, households installing rooftop solar systems can receive subsidies up to ₹78,000 and enjoy up to 300 units of free electricity per month. The scheme also enables consumers to sell surplus power back to the grid, effectively turning homes into micro power stations. In Madhya Pradesh, where power subsidies already strain the state budget, solar adoption could ease fiscal pressure while empowering citizens. As energy demands rise and conventional tariffs remain high, Minister Vijayvargiya's statement may mark a strategic pivot in public discourse - one that favours decentralisation, sustainability, and consumer autonomy. Whether citizens respond with rooftop installations or policymakers accelerate solar infrastructure, the cost of power is no longer just a budget line; it's a political and technological frontier.

Love Jihad, a conspiracy targeting Hindu girls, women must impart moral values to daughters: Vijayvargiya

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh minister for urban administration Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday stated that Love Jihad is a conspiracy targeting Hindu girls, making them victims of Muslim men. Speaking at a public function organised to promote wrestling in the Indore-1 assembly constituency area, the former BJP national general secretary urged mothers to instill 'acche sanskar' (moral values) in their daughters. He emphasised that young Hindu girls should verify the family backgrounds of youths before becoming friends with them. "Love Jihad is a conspiracy. Many Hindu girls have become victims," Vijayvargiya said during his address. "Some youths are quoting Hindu names and emotionally entrapping girls. They are destroying the lives of these young girls. It is essential that we caution girls about such conspiracy," he added. The minister further argued, "Mothers and sisters should make them understand that before making friends with a youth, they should check their family background. It is Sanskar that teaches children to differentiate between the good and the bad." He stated that present-day television serials are disturbing young minds. "Send your children to the park so they can learn wrestling and make good friends," he suggested. "Mobile phones have become the close friends of today's children which is affecting their health and thinking," Vijayvargiya maintained. Recalling Indore's high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case, Vijayvargiya remarked, "Had Sonam been trained in good ethics and values, her mother and father would not have had to hide their faces today." Meanwhile, the state Congress responded strongly to Vijayvargiya's comments. State PCC spokesman Abhinav Barolia demanded an apology from Kailash Vijayvargiya for his remarks. "The minister must apologise to women for his remarks. He cannot suppress people by shirking responsibility and talking about teaching values. Your party's govt has been in power in the state for more than two decades and there is a BJP govt at the Centre. And then, you pin the blame on mothers and sisters. What is the double-engine govt doing?" he asked.

The minister further argued, 'Mothers and sisters should teach 'acchi sanskar' (good values) to young girls. Make them understand that before making friends with a youth, they should check their family background. It is Sanskar that teaches children to differentiate between the good and the bad.' Vijayvargiya recalled that as a child, his mother would give him milk and food after he recited verses from the Ram Charit Manas. Reciting from the Ram Charit Manas was compulsory at his home because his parents wanted him to follow the principles of Lord Rama. He said that presently television serials are disturbing young minds. 'Send your children to the park so they can learn wrestling and make good friends,' he said. 'Mobile phones have become the close friends of today's children which is affecting their health and thinking,' Vijayvargiya argued.
