Tottenham target prolific Ligue 1 forward as Richarlison exit looms
Tottenham Track Ligue 1 Striker Kalimuendo as Attack Reinforcement Striker search intensifies amid Richarlison uncertainty Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a move for Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. According to RMC Sport, the 23-year-old is attracting strong interest from the Premier League, with Spurs emerging as a serious contender. Kalimuendo, who scored 17 goals and added four assists in Ligue 1 last season, has emerged as one of French football's most efficient finishers. Rennes are said to be open to selling but are demanding at least €30 million (£26 million). With clubs like RB Leipzig and Villarreal also interested, competition could intensify. Photo: IMAGO Forward options under review Tottenham's investment in Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, Luka Vuskovic, and Kota Takai has signalled a long-term strategy, but the striker position remains an area of focus. Dominic Solanke impressed in his first season with 16 goals and eight assists in 45 appearances, yet concerns about depth persist. Photo IMAGO With Richarlison linked to moves away from North London and Tel still raw at 20, Kalimuendo could be a fitting solution. His movement, pace and finishing instincts align with the attacking structure Thomas Frank is building. Photo IMAGO Nottingham Forest also in the frame Nottingham Forest have also expressed interest in Kalimuendo, though it remains to be seen whether they can match Tottenham's project or ambition. RB Leipzig view the Frenchman as a potential replacement for Benjamin Sesko, should the Slovenian depart for Newcastle United. Rennes, meanwhile, are actively seeking a replacement, a sign they may be preparing for Kalimuendo's departure. Spurs' recruitment drive continues With over £120 million already spent, Tottenham's intent is clear. The push for Morgan Gibbs-White continues amid legal wrangling with Nottingham Forest, but bolstering the forward line appears to be next on the agenda. Kalimuendo may not be the marquee name, but he fits the club's transfer model: young, productive and with room to grow. Our View – EPL Index Analysis For Spurs fans, the link to Arnaud Kalimuendo should feel more exciting than it initially appears. This is a player who fits the current direction of the club: high-potential, smart-value targets that can contribute immediately but still develop further. Kalimuendo's numbers in Ligue 1 are not to be overlooked. Seventeen goals for Rennes, a side outside France's top two, suggests a striker capable of thriving in a team with more creative support. His off-the-ball movement and instinctive finishing would complement Solanke well, while also offering something different in approach. What's equally encouraging is that Spurs are not sitting still. The Richarlison situation could easily leave a gap in the squad, and relying solely on Tel to back up Solanke is risky. Kalimuendo feels like a calculated move, not a panic buy, and one with genuine upside. Of course, €30 million for a non-Premier League striker is always a gamble. But Spurs have made a habit of backing young talent in recent windows, and this would be no exception. The interest from Forest and Leipzig adds urgency, but if Tottenham are serious, they should act decisively. In a window that already reflects long-term planning, Kalimuendo would be another forward-thinking addition.

Report: Spurs eye €30m striker move as alternative to Premier League target
Tottenham Eye 'Real Killer' Kalimuendo as Striker Search Intensifies Spurs Shift Focus from Wissa to Kalimuendo Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, according to a report by RMC Sport. The 23-year-old Frenchman is emerging as a realistic target following complications in Spurs' pursuit of Brentford's Yoane Wissa. While the DR Congo international is reportedly keen to play Champions League football under his former manager Thomas Frank, Brentford are reluctant to sell, even with just one year left on his contract (plus an option for another year). The Bees have set a valuation north of £50 million, making negotiations increasingly difficult. Rennes Open to Sale for Star Striker In contrast, Rennes are far more open to the idea of parting ways with Kalimuendo, whose contract runs until 2027. The French outfit are believed to be seeking a fee between €30m–35m (£26m–£30m) to cash in while the striker's value is high. That figure, while not insignificant, presents better value for money compared to Wissa—especially considering Kalimuendo's age and recent form. Photo IMAGO After a standout 2024/25 season where he notched 17 goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances, Kalimuendo has drawn attention across Europe. Tactical Fit for Thomas Frank's System Thomas Frank's desire for pace, movement, and fluidity in attack could make Kalimuendo a smart tactical fit. He offers directness and vertical threat—qualities that align well with Spurs' high-tempo brand of football. While he's not the most creative forward statistically, Kalimuendo thrives when service is provided, and with players like James Maddison and Pedro Porro delivering chances, his predatory instincts could flourish in North London. Given the financial demands surrounding Wissa, Kalimuendo may represent not just a viable alternative—but a more strategic long-term investment. Our View – EPL Index Analysis: From a Spurs fan's point of view, this move makes a lot of sense. There's always excitement around the idea of signing a young, hungry striker—especially one who's already proving himself in one of Europe's top five leagues. Kalimuendo might not yet be a household name in England, but 17 goals in Ligue 1 is no joke. Fans will appreciate that the club isn't getting drawn into a financial tug-of-war with Brentford over Wissa. While he's a solid Premier League performer, £50 million for a player approaching 30, with one year left on his contract, is steep. Kalimuendo, by contrast, offers better value, higher resale potential, and fits the age profile of the rebuild Frank is orchestrating. For a fanbase that's seen too many high-priced flops over the years, this deal feels more thought-out and future-focused. If Spurs can get it over the line, supporters might finally start seeing the squad depth they've been crying out for.

Rennes sporting director ‘anticipates' Arnaud Kalimuendo departure
Stade Rennais' new sporting director, Loïc Désiré, has revealed that the club are expecting Arnaud Kalimuendo (23) to leave the club this summer. In his first press conference since trading RC Strasbourg Alsace for Rennes, Désiré revealed the Breton club's intentions in the current transfer window. One of his main priorities is bringing down the size of the squad. Currently, there are around 40 players under contract. He wants to bring that number down to between 22-24. Advertisement There are expendables that Les Rennais are trying to get off their books, such as Birmingham City target Kyogo Furuhashi, however, some key players could also leave, such as Kalimuendo. As reported by L'Équipe earlier this month, the France youth international is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who next season will play in the UEFA Champions League. 'In this sector (up front), we are anticipating Kalimuendo's eventual departure,' said Désiré. Whilst there are not yet any offers on the table for the striker, that is not expected to remain the case for long. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Gasperini keen on Arnaud Kalimuendo as striker option
While awaiting the first official moves in the Giallorossi transfer market, Gian Piero Gasperini has already made it known that he wants to change something in the team's attack. The names of Dovbyk and Abraham, for different reasons, do not convince the veterancoach, who is looking for a profile with greater mobility and the ability to communicate with the attacking midfield. Advertisement As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, among the names monitored is Arnaud Kalimuendo, born in 2002, currently playing for Rennes. The French centre-forward closed the season with 18 goals in 34 games, confirming himself as one of the most promising young players in Ligue 1. Massara, who already followed the player last season, considers him an interesting option. The price set by Rennes is around 25 million euros, a figure that is not low but sustainable in the case of targeted sales. The contract expiring in 2027 forces the French club to decide whether to sell now or renew his deal.
