Yogi Adityanath backs Kanwar yatris amid vandalism reports: They face media trial
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday came out strongly in support of Kanwar Yatris, accusing sections of the media and critics of unfairly labelling the pilgrims as 'hooligans' and 'terrorists'."From the lowest class to the highest class, every person is connected to this movement (Kanwar Yatra). It is a wonderful display of unity. There is no discrimination of caste, region, class, religion or community," the Chief Minister while addressing an event in Adityanath alleged that "the same people" who once tried to divide the country on communal lines are now targeting the Kanwar Yatra to malign India's cultural heritage. "Kanwariyas are constantly put through media trials. They are labelled as hooligans and even terrorists. This mindset is an insult to India's rich cultural heritage. These are the same people who once tried to separate a particular community from the country, who incited them, and now they are creating fake accounts on social media to stir up caste conflicts," he said. Adityanath's remarks came amid several reports of incidents of violence and vandalism linked to Kanwar yatris this year. Earlier this week, police in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district arrested four Kanwariyas for allegedly blocking the Delhi-Haridwar National Highway and damaging public property near Bahadarabad, news agency PTI said the pilgrims created a ruckus over a "trivial matter" and obstructed traffic by putting up another incident in Kanpur, clashes reportedly broke out during a Kanwar Yatra procession, resulting in the assault of a home guard, a security guard, and a student volunteer. Some media reports claimed the violence and subsequent vandalism at a police station were carried out by Muzaffarnagar, a group of Kanwariyas allegedly vandalised a roadside eatery, claiming its Muslim owners had not clearly displayed their identities, according to PTI. Police have also warned pilgrims against riding motorcycles without silencers and have initiated action in some cases.- EndsMust Watch

UP CM Yogi Adityanath conducts aerial survey of Bijnor Kanwar Yatra route
Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 7 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday conducted an aerial survey of the Kanwar Yatra route in the Bijnor district. In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kanwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. Devotees across the country perform worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Emphasising that adequate arrangements are being made for Kanwariyas, UP Minister AK Sharma said that the administration is ensuring that there are no potholes on the route and drains are covered. 'This one month is like a celebration throughout the country. We are ensuring that there are no potholes on the roads, especially in cities along the Kanwar route. We are making sure all manholes and drains are properly covered to avoid any unforeseen accidents at night. Arrangements for separate restrooms for men and women have been made along the Kanwar route. Arrangements for meals of Kanwar Yatris are also being made,' Sharma said. 'We are making sure the facilities are better than last year's. Streetlights are being installed throughout the Kanwar route. One thing we have learnt from Muharram Tazia processions is that we will ask Kanwar yatris not to make very high DJ setups to avoid coming in contact with high-tension power lines,' he added. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath paid floral tribute to the late mother of BJP leader Dharampal Singh in Bijnor. In a post on X, CM Yogi Adityanath said, 'Today, I visited the residence of the State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharmpal Ji in Bijnor district, offered flowers at the portrait of his late revered mother, paid my respects, and consoled the grieving family members. In this hour of sorrow, my condolences are with the family, and I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at his sacred feet.' (ANI)
