Govt pushes for launch of Bokaro airport before Nov
Bokaro: Deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, who visited the site for Bokaro airport project on Tuesday to assess its progress, held meetings with officials from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), and key administrative departments and asked the officials concerned to address the bottlenecks and expedite the remaining tasks. Locals are eagerly waiting for operations to begin, but the timeline for completion remains uncertain due to repeated setbacks. Speaking after the inspection, the DC said, "Starting commercial flight services from Bokaro is a top priority for both the state govt and the district administration. Clear instructions have been issued to eliminate all existing hurdles before the upcoming Kartik Purnima (Nov), setting it as the target for the airport's launch." During the review meeting held on the airport premises, the DC issued a series of critical directives to fast-track the remaining works and ensure the timely launch of commercial flight services. He emphasised the immediate construction of a watchtower to bolster airport security and instructed that it be completed within a fixed time frame. BSL management was asked to identify suitable land for the relocation, while SDO Chas was tasked with overseeing the implementation. The DC also stressed the need for regular maintenance of the airport premises, including pruning of bushes and upkeep of green areas to ensure a clean and obstruction-free environment. Additionally, departments were instructed to expedite completion of essential infrastructure works such as drainage systems, internal roads, barrier systems, and the construction of a protective wall, all in accordance with quality standards and deadlines.

Rs 24cr OK'd for devpt of tourist facilities at Sonepur fair: Dy CM
Patna: The state govt has approved Rs 24.28 crore for the development and modernisation of tourist facilities at Sonepur fair site in Saran district, deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said on Monday. He said the plan for Sonepur fair development has been approved under the sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0. "This will promote local employment and economic activities in rural areas," he said, adding that the govt is to develop Sonepur fair as a digital and eco-sensitive site for global tourism. Choudhary said the scheme includes entrance gate, market construction, road widening, road connectivity to the ghat, and parking area, and shuttle service. "Work will also be done on green initiatives like plastic-free fair area, waste management, solar energy and environmental awareness campaign. Under the digital initiative, services like fair mobile app, cashless payment, virtual darshan and smart parking will be created," he said. The monthlong fair, once known worldwide for sale and purchase of elephants, cows, horses, birds and oxen, is held every year on Kartik Purnima (Nov 5 this year) at the confluence of Ganga-Gandak rivers.

Devotees take holy dip at Sangam on auspicious Vaishakh Purnima
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 12 (ANI): On Vaishakh Purnima 2025, devotees took a holy dip and offered prayers at Prayagraj's Sangam. In Haridwar, Uttar Pradesh, people also bathed in the Ganga River to celebrate the occasion. 'I've come here from Lucknow for the Ganga snan. I make sure to take a holy dip in the Ganga every Vaishakh Purnima. After the snan, I did whatever charity I could at my end,' said Karunesh Pandey, one of the devotees at Prayagraj. 'Since today is Vaishakh Purnima, we have come to Prayagraj to take a sacred dip in the holy waters,' said a woman devotee. 'I am in Prayagraj today, and I believe that taking a dip in the holy Sangam brings blessings, fulfilling all your wishes, especially on Kartik Purnima. This is a land where good people come to do charity. My family and I took a dip, did charity, and received blessings from the panditji. We also performed a pooja. I feel so blessed and happy that I came here today,' said Poonam Goswami, a woman devotee from Uttar Pradesh. 'Yes, today I came to Sangam, and since today is Purnima, we came here to take a dip to mark the occasion. Now, I will be heading to the Hanuman Mandir,' stated Jaswani Singh, a male devotee at Sangam. 'Today is a very special day--the last day of Vaishakh. Taking a dip in the Ganga today is believed to give the full benefit of bathing the whole month. Even a small donation made today brings blessings. It feels good to do something with faith,' said Gopal, who took a holy dip at the Sangam. Devotees believe that this sacred bath ensures peace in their lives and brings continued blessings from God. The significance of bathing in the Ganges on Vaishakh Purnima has attracted thousands of people to Prayagraj and Haridwar, where they also participate in charitable acts, pujas, and other rituals.
