Simone Ashley Is Being Praised For Showing Up To The 'F1' Movie Premiere Despite Being Drastically Cut From The Film

Earlier this month, the director of F1: The Movie, Joseph Kosinski, sparked backlash after confirming that Simone Ashley's role had been drastically cut from the final edit. For context, news broke last July that Simone had been cast in the Formula 1 movie, which stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Brad plays veteran driver Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to race rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson. The film will be released in theaters this week. Not only was Simone spotted filming scenes with Damson multiple times, but she also made an appearance at the Miami Grand Prix in May, sparking a heap of buzz around her upcoming role. And so, as you can imagine, fans were extremely disappointed when director Joseph revealed that Simone's storyline 'ultimately didn't make it into the final cut.' Related: Keke Palmer's "Sickening" Dress Has The Internet In Shambles 'It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use. There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make it into the final cut,' he told People. 'But Simone, she's an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to work with her again.' After Joseph's comments went viral, several internet users wound up discussing other times that actors of color have been sidelined in the industry. One popular tweet read, 'There's a pattern in Hollywood of casting actors of color, only to minimize, sideline or exclude their presence.' The Bridgerton star wore a metallic-looking gold outfit at the Monday night event, and it's safe to say that she looked absolutely stunning. And while it's likely that Simone was contractually obligated to attend the premiere, numerous fans couldn't help but marvel over her professionalism and grace as they heaped praise onto the actor. 'She's a professional! I won't be watching the movie… but I hope she gets more opportunities she deserves it,' one user wrote. 'even after that disrespect… Simone is just superior,' someone tweeted. 'She better than me. You cut my scenes from a movie and I am not showing up to the premier,' another user wrote. 'She's so graceful. I would not have given them a single ounce of publicity after the stunt they pulled,' one more post read. Simone later shared a bunch of photos from the premiere to her Instagram page, writing: "Last night at the F1 premiere in my hometown ✨ It was a joy to reunite with the cast and crew, and to celebrate - I couldn't have been prouder watching everyone shine on screen and on the carpet, all while wearing my couture @balmain gown that made me feel just as radiant. I've come away with friendships and memories I'll treasure forever. 💛 Go see this movie! — it's a must see ride and speed like you've never seen before!" Keke Palmer Addressed What Happened That Jonathan Majors Interview After She Faced Major Backlash

Warning: This article contains discussion of abuse, assault, and domestic violence. Keke Palmer addressed what happened to that one interview with Jonathan Majors that had a lot of people upset. Michael Buckner / Variety via Getty Images, Robin L Marshall / Getty Images On a June 20 episode of The Breakfast Club, the One of Them Days actor explained why the controversial interview with Jonathan never came out following online backlash. An episode of Keke's podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer titled "No Easy Answers: Accountability and Moving Forward with Jonathan Majors" was set to premiere everywhere on April 8, and while it was available exclusively for Wondery+ users for a short time, it was ultimately shelved. The description of the deleted episode read, "Accountability. It's a loaded word, right? We're living in a time where we want real accountability—especially for things men have gotten away with for far too long. At the same time, finding forgiveness feels harder than ever, and we're still figuring out what true accountability even looks like." The caption continued, "Today, we're sitting down with Jonathan Majors to talk about what life has looked like after being convicted of harassment and assault. This conversation isn't here to give you all the answers—it's complicated, it's messy—but hopefully, it brings us a little closer to understanding the complex emotional landscape of the time we're living through." Related: 26 Pairs Of Celebrities Who Look Sooo Much Alike, It's A Little Uncanny When Keke first promoted the episode, it was met with criticism based on Jonathan being found guilty in 2023 on one count of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment against his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Jonathan has denied culpability and claimed in an interview that he was responsible for "none of her injuries." Since several celebrities have come out in support of Jonathan, including Whoopi Goldberg, who said, 'He was arrested. He went to court. He did what he was supposed to do. I'm not sure what else there is," per the Hollywood Reporter. It appeared that Jonathan's appearance as the cover star of the Hollywood Reporter and statements of support from actors like Matthew McConaughey and Michael B. Jordan were setting the stage for a comeback, and Keke's interview was going to give him a platform to defend himself, but it was never widely published after the backlash. Talking with Loren LoRosa, Jess Hilarious, and DJ Envy, Keke said she was initially excited to speak with Jonathan, especially following his marriage to actor Meagan Good. "Obviously, Meagan's my girl. I've grown up loving her," Keke said. "She's honestly a mentor, you know, to me and representation for all of us young, Black women. I mean, I was happy for her to get married. I was excited to have the conversation." But, in the end, the team around her felt it wasn't the best option to move forward with the episode, considering the reactions. "I think, ultimately, with my partners, it was just decided based off, I guess, the reactions. That people felt [the interview] was insensitive, that maybe we shouldn't put it out," she continued. "I mean, it's always there, I imagine, if people wanted to see it. But I always want to be respectful and understand where everybody's coming from. And you know, if they're not gonna feel like they're going to receive anything good from the interview, then okay, cool. But, you know, I sat down with the brother for us to talk and let him be heard." "I think this is the thing, too. For me, as a public figure and entertainer, when I'm doing my hosting, I'm here – y'all know – I'm here to be unbiased," she added. "Everybody that sits in your chair, you don't agree with everything that they did. You don't love everything they did, but you gotta have the conversation." Keke also appeared on Angela Yee's Way Up With Angela Yee, where she seemingly suggested she was game for the interview, but it was her team who had reservations. "It's not just me. I have partners," Keke said. "It was then suggested or decided that-- without throwing anybody under the bus-- we shouldn't put it out." "He was interviewing, and I felt like 'Hey, well let's hear it,'" Keke added, clarifying that her desire to speak with a guest doesn't mean she agrees with them. "Just because you're interviewing somebody doesn't mean you agree with everything," While you won't be able to catch that Jonathan Majors episode everywhere, you can check out Baby It's Keke Palmer wherever podcasts are available. What's In Keke Palmer's Bag? Mom Essentials and Tons of Snacks

Keke Palmer leads a busy life. As a mom, actor, and singer, you could say the star has her hands very full at the moment. (Her personal new album, Just Keke—exploring themes of love, motherhood, and self-discovery—released last week.) That got us thinking: What exactly does someone like Palmer pack when she travels—and tote around daily—to ensure that she always stays ready? We found out in Vogue's latest installment of In the Bag, where Palmer shared all of her essentials. Being a quintessential Virgo, Palmer shared that she first organizes her bigger bag with two smaller bags—including an 'outfit bag,' courtesy of Chanel. Inside all of these compartments you'll find her daily must-haves, including everything from glasses ('your girl is blind!') to supplements, journals, and tons of snacks. Her beauty staples include her trustee SPF by La Roche-Posay. 'I would not be caught dead without it,' says Palmer. The star is also currently huge on taking her supplements, including Selenium, Vitamin C, D3, K2, and electrolytes. 'When I turned 30, my knees started cracking,' says Palmer. 'I was popping and locking. I said, 'Girl, it's time to start taking care of you.'' As a proud mother to her son, Leo, Palmer also admits that much of her bag centers around his current needs and wants. She pulls out one of his toy cars, and some cookies. 'Leo loves cookies,' she says. 'Mama loves them too. Sometimes, they go missing, because she done ate 'em.' Speaking of snacks, Palmer shares that she always has some treats on her person—including her favorite one, some freeze-dried soup. 'You drop this in a hot cup of water, and you get exactly what you need,' says Palmer. When the star proceeds to pull out her trustee passport, she was also reminded of another surprising favorite snack she had in Croatia. 'They had the best nachos I've ever had in my life,' she shares. 'Can you believe it?' Booking our ticket now. Above, watch the full video. Keke Palmer bares her soul in 'Just Keke': a musical memoir of heartbreak and healing

Keke Palmer is embarking on a heartfelt journey through her newest visual album, 'Just Keke'. Image: Keke Palmer Instagram Keke Palmer has embarked on a heartfelt journey through her newest visual album, 'Just Keke', which was released on Friday, June 20. The 31-year-old multi-talented star uses this vibrant work to process her recent public breakup with ex-Darius Jackson, illuminating the complex emotions entwined in their past relationship, from loss to liberation. With a two-year-old son, Leo, who remains at the heart of her creative narrative, Palmer invites listeners to witness her transformation into an empowered artist and mother. The album, inspired by Palmer's previous BET talk show of the same name, is designed as a high-concept variety programme. Each of its 18 tracks is accompanied by striking visuals, delving into Palmer's rich experiences and artistic influences, with nods to legendary artists such as Whitney Houston and Brandy. The project also features cameos from her family and actress Issa Rae, enriching the emotional landscapes Palmer has navigated. 'Just Keke' captures the essence of vulnerability in the face of adversity. In her lyrics, Palmer reflects on the raw complexities of love and the challenges that come with it. She candidly addresses the end of her romantic relationship while simultaneously celebrating the joy her son brings into her life, intertwining these contrasting feelings into a powerful narrative. Palmer's ability to articulate personal pain through art serves not only to reclaim her narrative but also to foster a deeper connection with her audience. In a recent Instagram post, Palmer characterised 'Just Keke' as more than just an artistic endeavour. 'This is my real life,' she asserted, revealing the meticulous effort she invested in the project. 'Each character is a tool to dismantle perceptions around identity,' she explained, emphasising how the album is a testament to her journey as a young black woman navigating the public eye. Next Stay Close ✕ With such introspective themes, Palmer invites listeners to embark on a journey of self-discovery alongside her. The intricacies of her relationship with Jackson are particularly evident in tracks like 'Off Script', where she touchingly sings, 'You still think I don't love you / Even when I let you get me pregnant.' Here, Palmer is firm in her exploration of love and misunderstanding, tackling the twin realities of motherhood and heartbreak with honesty and wit. Another standout track, 'My Confession', spotlights the turbulence of her relationship, rooted in a crucial moment captured in the public eye that showcased the unravelling of her love story. As Palmer navigates through the manifold emotions portrayed in 'Just Keke', she also takes time to celebrate personal growth. 'This project is about the shifts, the stretch, the surrender,' she expressed, referring to the interplay between her artistic persona and her true self. The duality of life and art echoes throughout her work, as she illustrates her evolution not just as a performer, but as a woman and a mother, reinventing herself under public scrutiny. Despite the trials endured during her romantic relationship, Palmer also expressed a spirit of gratitude as she and Jackson co-parent Leo with mutual respect and understanding. In her final words on social media, she shared, 'Life is so many things, but art allows me to process and time stamp and move on ... this is my greatest walk yet!'
