Arsenal make approach to sign Brazilian star in cut price deal

Arsenal have made an initial approach to sign Brazilian youngster Breno Bidon from Corinthians. Mikel Arteta is eager to bring in a centre forward and a winger but the club are strengthening a number of areas ahead of the new season. The Gunners have been busy so far this summer with deals wrapped up to sign Martin Zubimendi and Kepa with the Spanish pair expected to officially sign for the club next week. Christian Norgaard isn't far behind them with the Brentford captain set to undergo a medical. The club are also in talks with Valencia to bring Cristhian Mosquera to north London having identified the Spain Under-21 international as an ideal option to come in and provide cover and competition for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. Another young star appears to be in their plans with Arsenal among the club making contact over a move for 20-year-old Bidon, UOL report. The midfielder has also attracted interest from Wolves and Brighton with Portuguese giants Sporting CP and Benfica also in the running. While held in high regard, Corinthians are prepared to listen to offers for the central midfielder with a major sale expected to help balance the books. Bidon will be available for a very modest £12.8million this summer. With deals for Zubimendi, Norgaard and Kepa effectively done, Arsenal are negotiating on a number of fronts. Their opening offer for Valencia star Mosquera, thought to be worth £16m, has been rejected by the La Liga side, who are looking for around £25m for one of their prized assets. Efforts to bring in a centre forward continue with Arsenal exploring moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. Arsenal agree a deal to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea

Arsenal have signed a new goalkeeper named Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on June 25, 2025, 18:47 IST Arsenal have signed a new goalkeeper named Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The club already has England's top keeper David Raya but they wanted another main keeper who can be in competition with him. They activated €5 million release clause and sign Kepa permanently. Arsenal have completed the surprise signing of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea in a deal worth €5 million. The Gunners triggered Kepa's release clause to bring him to the Emirates on a permanent deal, adding more depth and competition to their goalkeeping department. The 29-year-old arrives despite the presence of England international David Raya, who impressed as Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper last season. However, Mikel Arteta is keen on maintaining strong competition in every position, and Kepa's arrival ensures that Raya will not take his place for granted. Kepa spent last season on loan but returned to Chelsea after the Spanish giants opted not to make the deal permanent. With limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca, the Spaniard has now found a fresh start in North London. William Gallas warns Arsenal they are making 'strange' £5m transfer mistake

Arsenal have been warned they are making a 'strange' transfer mistake by sending £5million on Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arizabalaga. The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and contributed to a superb season for the Cherries. Despite an impressive campaign, Kapa has been deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea who are willing to let a player who once cost them £72m leave for a modest fee. Arsenal are looking to sign a new goalkeeper to provide competition for David Raya who firmly established himself as the club's undisputed No.1 last season. The Gunners held long-term interest in Espanyol's Joan Garcia but he has opted to join Barcelona where he is likely to instantly become first choice. Undeterred by that setback, Arsenal have moved swiftly to secure the services of a player with a proven Premier League pedigree, much to the bafflement of former Gunners captain William Gallas. 'I think Kepa to Arsenal would be a strange signing,' he told Prime Casino. 'The second choice goalkeeper should be a young player who is learning that can take over from David Raya in a few years time. 'I'm not sure why you'd bring in someone who is older than him with no eye to the future. 'Arsenal should be looking for someone in their early 20s who can learn and grow, playing in the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, 'Kepa isn't that player.' Those sentiments were echoed by Gallas' former Chelsea teammate, Shaun Wright-Phillips, who cannot fathom why the Conference League holders are getting rid of Kepa. 'I'm confused. I don't understand,' Wright-Phillips told Betway when asked abut Kepa's imminent move to the Emirates Stadium. 'It's like nobody's been watching Kepa this season. He's been unbelievable. He is part of the reason why Bournemouth finished where they finished. 'The defence was outstanding, but Kepa was unbelievable, as well, I thought. 'I assumed while the season was going on that Chelsea didn't need to buy a goalkeeper because Kepa was going back anyway, but that isn't to be the case. 'You can have as good a goalkeeper as you want, but if you're still going to make the same mistakes in defence, your goalkeeper is still going to concede. More Trending 'That's just the fact of the matter. [Liverpool goalkeeper] Alisson pulls off amazing saves when he's needed. Half the time he has to pull off a save, it's not forced errors. 'So if Chelsea can get their defence like that, where they're not making him make unnecessary saves he shouldn't have to make, then I think Kepa is your man to keep. You don't need to forage around. 'Most managers now are looking for goalkeepers that are good with their feet. I think Kepa's alright with his feet, but he might not be at the level they want him to be. 'But for me, it's a real strange one.' Former Chelsea winger has wild idea which would be even less popular than Robert Sanchez

Former Chelsea winger has wild idea which would be even less popular than Robert Sanchez Chelsea's goalkeeper situation is the subject of much debate after the Blues broke off talks to try and sign Mike Maignan. Currently the plan seems to be to keep using Robert Sanchez, although that's not a decision that will be very popular with many fans. Former Blue Pat Nevin has an even less popular suggestion, though. Advertisement 'The goalkeeper position is a tough one for Chelsea because what they're looking for is youth,' Nevin said in quotes picked up by CaughtOffside. 'But goalkeepers, like centre-backs, don't really come into their own until they're around 25 or 26. They are two very specific positions in that regard. Look who's already on their books with Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Gabriel Slonina, Djordje Petrovic and Kepa Arrizabalaga.' WATCH Chelsea vs. ES Tunis for free on any device with DAZN. Pat Nevin points to Kepa as potential Chelsea goalkeeper solution Kepa Arrizabalaga playing for Bournemouth (Photo by) Advertisement Can you see where this is going yet? 'I think the resolution to their goalkeeping problem could already be at the club. Kepa is as good as any of the goalkeepers we have mentioned and he's an option that I think is worth revisiting for Chelsea. 'I'm not sure if the ownership regime would think the same, but he's there and they're paying him. 'If he's the best option at the club, after learning a lot of things while out on loan this season, Chelsea shouldn't be looking all around the world for another goalkeeper. 'Kepa has got better with his feet and is a fantastic shot-stopper. While you can question his presence and it's a challenge Chelsea face, I don't think it's their biggest problem.' Crazy Kepa suggestion would be a lead balloon with Chelsea fans We didn't think there could be an idea that would be digested worse than Chelsea sticking with Sanchez next season, but we might just have found it. Selling Kepa to Arsenal or Bournemouth for £5m this summer is a great result for us, and second guessing that would be a mistake.
