Kevin Harvick Points Out Main Problem in NASCAR Pit Crew Clash at Sonoma

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Former NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick has pointed out the main problem that triggered the pit crew dispute during the Cup Series race at Sonoma last weekend. A fight broke out between a pit crew member of RFK Racing and crew members of Joe Gibbs Racing after Ty Gibbs grazed a tire held by RFK tire changer Telvin McClurkin. This happened when Gibbs was passing through the RFK pit stall, which was next to the JGR stall. Following the incident, McClurkin confronted JGR crew members before they got physical. NASCAR officials eventually intervened and later concluded that Gibbs was not at fault, despite RFK providing video evidence. Watch: Unexpected Pit Crew Fight Breaks Out During NASCAR Cup Race at Sonoma Now, Harvick pointed out the core issue in the clash, explaining that the tire changer should have made way for the approaching car and described his act of confrontation as a "bad reaction." Speaking on his Happy Hour podcast, Harvick said: Former NASCAR Cup Series driver, Kevin Harvick speaks at the Busch Light activation on the midway prior to the NASCAR Cup Series Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 16, 2025 in Daytona Beach,... Former NASCAR Cup Series driver, Kevin Harvick speaks at the Busch Light activation on the midway prior to the NASCAR Cup Series Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 16, 2025 in Daytona Beach, Florida. More"Ty didn't do anything wrong here. NASCAR said it as well. My advice to the guy carrying the tires is move the tires. If you don't want to get hit by the car, move the tires. That's your responsibility, not the driver's. They give you that luxury of not having to jump off the wall anymore, but when I was the driver and I felt like your tire carrier was swinging around too wide and it was affecting the way I get into the box, I would brush them. There's no doubt in my mind. "This one is simple. The tire carrier just needs to get out of the freaking way. He's standing in the pit stall with the two tires and so, he can be frustrated all he wants — I don't know why he wants to go over and blame it on the team guys. Just a bad reaction from the tire carrier and in my opinion, 100 percent his problem to deal with. Get out of the way of the car." Gibbs' entry into the pit stall slowed Keselowski, and Harvick said he has no problem with that. He explained: "In all honesty, the 6 and the 54 were racing. Anything I can do to mess up your pit stop, if I can cut it as close as possible to keep you from running around the car, I'm cutting it as close as possible. "If you're right there and you don't want to pull your tire back or take one step back to try to keep your timing right on your pit stop, I want you to make sure that the next time we come in, that you're one step back and your pit stop's not going to be as fast as mine because it's going to be way easier to pass you on pit road or you not pass me on pit road. Pit crew guys might not like to hear that, but I don't have a problem with anything that happened."

Kevin Harvick Has 1 Issue With Current NASCAR Drivers

Kevin Harvick Has 1 Issue With Current NASCAR Drivers originally appeared on The Spun. Former NACAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick isn't afraid to share his unfiltered thoughts about the sport, that's for sure. There's been plenty of drama this season in the Cup Series. Back in June, there was a lot of drama surrounding Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. due to their collision at the Cracker Barrel 400 in Nashville. Things got so ugly that people accused Hocevar of being a reckless driver. We also can't forget that Joey Logano and Ross Chastain exchanged words after the Chicago street race earlier this month. During this Tuesday's episode of the "Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour" podcast, Harvick addressed all the drama surrounding the Cup Series. Harvick made it clear that he wants drivers to stop talking trash and start retaliating when they feel cheated on the track. "I don't know about the fights, but if you're going to call somebody out on the radio and you're going to talk a bunch of [expletive], at least go do something, or immediately just hammer them," Harvick said, via On3. "Just all the [expletive] talking that happens on the radio, and then nothing happening on the racetrack. There's just no better message that you can send than just wiping somebody out in retaliation. Then they know you'll do it, right? When they know that you'll do it, they're not going to wipe you out. Because they don't want to deal (with that). "That's one reason why, back when I drove, you just — every once in a while, you just had to wipe somebody out. You had to just send a message. You had a bunch of chaos — do you want to deal with the chaos, and do you want to get wiped out? Fine, let's do it. But I don't know that anybody is going to do that." Harvick obviously doesn't want NASCAR's product to become an utter mess each week, but the sport could benefit from some fireworks. NASCAR Announcer Makes Opinion On Chicago Extremely Clear

NASCAR Announcer Makes Opinion On Chicago Extremely Clear originally appeared on The Spun. After calling for NASCAR to end its Chicago Street Course event as recently as last week, Kevin Harvick seems to have changed his tone on the Grant Park 165. Advertisement Following Sunday's race (which was won once again by Shane van Gisbergen) the NASCAR legend came out and praised stock racing's governing body for introducing the street race three years ago. "The thing that I love about Chicago— all three years its felt like [fans] are so engaged in what's going on," Harvick said on his "Happy Hour" podcast. Adding that it's "One of the best events that NASCAR has ever decided to do because of the fact that they stepped out on a limb, we went street racing and its entertaining to watch." "... I think its just one of the greatest events that they've created lately and I can't wait to see where it goes next." Fans reacted to the former Cup Series champion's take on X. Advertisement "I [really] don't agree," a user said. "🤣🤣this was the worst race of the year by far," another replied. "I bet if he was driving and was involved in the Hocevar incident he'd say it was horrible and would bash nascar all day," a fan commented. "Of course Harvick the guy with the worst opinions would say Nascar did good with this. Exactly why most people shouldn't have a podcast," another person posted. "This track Sucks the layout Suck the racing is terrible. Its just a [expletive]show." Carson Hocevar Furious at Pocono, Calling Series a 'Joke' and Calling Out Series Director

Carson Hocevar Furious at Pocono, Calling Series a 'Joke' and Calling Out Series Director originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Just days after Carson Hocevar found himself in the middle of a controversy and Spire Motorsports fined him $50,000 for his critical remarks of Mexico, the 22-year-old driver was in yet another controversy on Friday in Pocono after he delivered a stinging critique of the NASCAR Truck Series and its managing director for not knowing the rules. Advertisement The Cup Series regular — who called Mexico a [expletive] on a Twitch stream and was penalized for it with the fine and a mandatory trip to sensitivity training — was driving the No. 7 truck at The Tricky Triangle and in the third position on the outside row behind the leader Corey Heim heading into a restart with 19 laps to go. Carson Hocevar looks on during practice at Pocono the No. 11 team, which has had some crazy bad luck this season and still won four races, had another date with misfortune when coming to the green it suffered a flat right-rear tire. The driver pulled to the far outside and dropped to the back of the field. The No. 34 of Layne Riggs in second and on the inside row assumed the lead and was the control truck going to the green, which Kevin Harvick, to his credit, clearly noted on the Fox broadcast. Advertisement NASCAR initially said the restart was under review before confirming the the No. 7 Spire truck's penalty. Hocevar strongly disagreed and called for his team to challenge the ruling. 'What a joke!' he said over the team radio. 'Yes sir, series is becoming a joke, copy,' his spotter replied. 'Good job, Seth,' the driver derided a few seconds later, taking aim at Truck Series Managing Director Seth Kramlich. After running out the final 19 laps and finishing 13th, Hocevar was still frustrated and probably more so considering Riggs won the race. 'Should have won,' he said over the radio. 'Can't help that somebody doesn't know the rules.' Advertisement He's right and based on NASCAR's decision, that somebody just happens to be him.
