Former NACAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick isn't afraid to share his unfiltered thoughts about the sport, that's for sure.
There's been plenty of drama this season in the Cup Series. Back in June, there was a lot of drama surrounding Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. due to their collision at the Cracker Barrel 400 in Nashville. Things got so ugly that people accused Hocevar of being a reckless driver.
We also can't forget that Joey Logano and Ross Chastain exchanged words after the Chicago street race earlier this month.
During this Tuesday's episode of the "Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour" podcast, Harvick addressed all the drama surrounding the Cup Series.
Harvick made it clear that he wants drivers to stop talking trash and start retaliating when they feel cheated on the track.
"I don't know about the fights, but if you're going to call somebody out on the radio and you're going to talk a bunch of [expletive], at least go do something, or immediately just hammer them," Harvick said, via On3. "Just all the [expletive] talking that happens on the radio, and then nothing happening on the racetrack. There's just no better message that you can send than just wiping somebody out in retaliation. Then they know you'll do it, right? When they know that you'll do it, they're not going to wipe you out. Because they don't want to deal (with that).
"That's one reason why, back when I drove, you just — every once in a while, you just had to wipe somebody out. You had to just send a message. You had a bunch of chaos — do you want to deal with the chaos, and do you want to get wiped out? Fine, let's do it. But I don't know that anybody is going to do that."
Harvick obviously doesn't want NASCAR's product to become an utter mess each week, but the sport could benefit from some fireworks.
The Cup Series will resume on July 20 at Dover International Speedway.Kevin Harvick Has 1 Issue With Current NASCAR Drivers first appeared on The Spun on Jul 16, 2025

Denny Hamlin's 2-year contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing could be his last in Cup series

INDIANAPOLIS — Denny Hamlin never wanted to drive for a team other than Joe Gibbs Racing. A two-year contract extension may seal the deal. On Friday, five days after winning his 58th Cup race, the 44-year-old Hamlin signed what he said would likely be his final contract extension. JGR officials only said the deal was for 'multiple' years, though Hamlin noted he didn't want anything longer than two years.

Denny Hamlin adds contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing to celebratory week after win at Dover

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin has signed a multiyear contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing, the team said Friday. Details of the contract were not announced. The deal comes during the same week in which the driver of the No. 11 car won in Dover for his 58th career Cup victory. He ranks 11th all-time in career victories, a resume that includes three Daytona 500 wins, three Southern 500 wins and one Coca-Cola 600. Hamlin will try to win his fourth crown jewel race in Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. 'Joe and everyone at JGR are family to me and have done so much for me over the last 20 years,' Hamlin said. 'We've had a solid start to this season and we have been able to welcome some great new partners this year, so there are a lot of exciting things happening with our team not only now, but also into the future.' Hamlin ranks fourth in this season's points. He's made all 706 of his Cup starts with JGR and is the longest tenured driver in team history. He also has 244 top-five finishes, 369 top-10s and has won the pole 44 times. 'I really appreciate Denny and everything he has meant to our organization,' Gibbs said. 'It is just really special when you think about everything we've experienced over the past 20 years, from that first moment when J.D. (Gibbs) recognized his talent at a test session, until now. It is remarkable in any sport to compete at the level Denny has for this long and we are thrilled he has been able to spend his entire career with us.' Hamlin and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan also are co-owners of NASCAR's 23XI Racing team, which is embroiled in a court battle to retain their charter in the series. Last week, U.S. District Judge Kenneth Bell denied a request from Front Row Motorsports and 23XI Racing for a temporary restraining order to prevent Cup officials from revoking their charters. Hamlin's team fields three drivers — Bubba Wallace, Riley Herbst and Tyler Reddick.
