Yere Yere Paisa 3 Pulled From Theatres For Saiyaara, MNS Leader Ameya Khopkar Threatens Protest

MNS's Ameya Khopkar slams multiplexes for replacing Yere Yere Paisa 3 with Saiyaara. Warns of protests over injustice to Marathi films. A new storm is brewing in the Indian film industry as Ameya Khopkar, President of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) film wing, has accused multiplex owners of deliberately removing Marathi film Yere Yere Paisa 3 from screens to make way for the Bollywood big-banner release Saiyaara. Khopkar voiced his displeasure after his film was reportedly pulled from several theatres across Maharashtra just a week after its July 18 release, despite garnering a positive audience response. The decision, he claims, was made to accommodate Saiyaara, a Hindi-language film backed by Yash Raj Films and starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. 'Our film Yere Yere Paisa 3 was screened in Maharashtra on July 18. The audience gave a great response. On that day, a Hindi film named Saiyaara, by Yash Raj Films, was also released," Khopkar said in a public statement. He alleged that theatres like Plaza Cinema in Dadar completely replaced his film with Saiyaara, allotting all four shows to the Bollywood title. 'Even in the heart of Mumbai, there is no place for Marathi films," he added, calling the trend deeply discouraging for regional cinema. मराठीसाठी मल्टिप्लेक्सच्या काचा फुटणार ?...(Amey Khopkar, Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 3, Marathi Movie, Multiplexes, Marathi artists, Marathi, Comedy-drama, Sanjay Jadhav, Maharashtra) #ameykhopkar #yereyerepaisa3 #marathimovie #comedydrama #movie #maharashtra #viralkarbhar — Viral Karbhar (@ViralKarbhar) July 26, 2025 Khopkar further issued a stern warning, stating that while he refrains from protest this time, future sidelining of Marathi films won't be tolerated. 'I am quiet now, I am not protesting now, because I don't want to protest for my films. But in the future, when any other Marathi film faces problems, I will break the glasses of multiplex," he said. पनवेल महानगर क्षेत्रात "ये रे ये रे पैसा ३" हा मराठी चित्रपट उतरवुन जर "साईयारा" हा हिंदी चित्रपट दाखवायला जाल तर स्क्रीनवर चित्र दिसणार नाही.. सरळ नारळचं दिसेल… @PicturesPVR @MirajCinemas सकाळी आम्ही थिएटरवर पोहोचायच्या आत बदल झालेले पाहीजेत.. — Yogesh J Chile (योगेश चिले) (@chileyog) July 25, 2025 The controversy has swiftly gained traction, drawing support from multiple political quarters. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut expressed solidarity with Khopkar, posting on X (formerly Twitter), 'To accommodate Saiyaara, Yere Yere Paisa 3 has been sidelined. This has become routine. The fight for Marathi must intensify." — Sanjay Raut (@rautsanjay61) July 25, 2025 In response, members of the cinema wing of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena staged a protest outside a PVR multiplex in Bandra, urging enforcement of Maharashtra's screen quota for regional cinema. Meanwhile, the numbers show a stark contrast: Yere Yere Paisa 3, despite being backed by Dharma Productions and helmed by director Sanjay S. Jadhav, has earned ₹78 lakh, while Saiyaara has amassed over ₹190 crore at the Indian box office. Produced by Sudhir Kolte, Onkar Sushama Mane, Amey and Swati Khopkar, and others, Yere Yere Paisa 3 brings back the popular franchise with hopes of boosting Marathi commercial cinema. But the current controversy has reignited larger debates over screen space allocation, regional film representation, and Bollywood's dominance in multiplex chains. Marathi film removed to ‘make way for Saiyaara': MNS leader alleges discrimination, warns of protest

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS's) film wing chief, Ameya Khopkar, on Friday lashed out at multiplex owners after his latest production, Yere Yere Paisa 3, was removed from several theatres just a week after release. Khopkar alleged discrimination against Marathi cinema in Maharashtra, and particularly Mumbai, and warned that if regional films continued to be sidelined, his protests would escalate. 'I should not have to agitate for my own film,' Khopkar said, addressing a press conference in Mumbai. 'But if multiplexes continue to suppress Marathi cinema, do not be surprised if glass panels are broken,' he added. The Sanjay Jadhav-directed Marathi film, Yere Yere Paisa 3, which released on July 18, was reportedly removed from several screens to make way for the Hindi film Saiyaara, which hit theatres the same day. The decision has triggered criticism from the Marathi film fraternity and political leaders. The development has also come at a time when the state has witnessed protests and incidents of violence over the Marathi language. Khopkar, a long-time advocate of regional representation in cinema halls, alleged a 'deliberate backlash' from multiplex owners. 'This is retaliation. Years ago, we fought for Marathi films to be screened in multiplexes. We succeeded. And now, they are hitting back,' he said. In a pointed reference to Plaza cinema in Dadar, Khopkar said that all four daily shows were allotted to Saiyaara, leaving no space for the Marathi release. 'Even in the heart of Mumbai, there is no place for Marathi films,' he said. Support for Khopkar came from across party lines. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said in a post on X, 'To accommodate Saiyaara, Yere Yere Paisa 3 has been sidelined. This has become routine. The fight for Marathi must intensify.' The cinema wing of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena also staged a protest outside a PVR multiplex in Bandra, demanding that the rule mandating screening space for regional films be enforced. 'The state government must not remain a mute spectator,' Khopkar said. 'We are not going to the government with folded hands. It is the government's duty to ensure fair treatment for Marathi cinema.' Khopkar also expressed disappointment at the lack of support from within the Marathi film industry. 'I have stood by this industry, even faced legal action for it. But today, no one is speaking up,' he said. According to film trade sources, Yere Yere Paisa 3 opened to a decent response at the box office, but its shows were reduced in several multiplexes due to scheduling changes and screen availability.

The decision has drawn strong backlash from Marathi filmmakers and regional political parties, who see it as a blow to the state's cultural Khopkar, the chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Cinema Wing and producer of Yere Yere Paisa 3, alleged that multiplexes were engaging in 'vindictive politics' by favouring Saiyaara over regional cinema. If your movie is good, it will get screens,' he controversy comes amid growing concerns about the marginalisation of the Marathi language and culture in Maharashtra.
