Gordon Ramsay reveals moment he 'collapsed' while holding his son for the first

Gordon Ramsay has opened up about the alarming moment he fainted during the birth of his fifth child, Oscar. The TV chef, 58, recalled the scary moment with a few chuckles in hindsight while appearing on a recent podcast. The Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares star was not present in the delivery room for the arrival of his first four children – Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 25, and Tilly, 23 – at the request of his wife Tana, 50. 'Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there,' Gordon explained on SmartLess podcast. 'First of all, [Tana] said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' That was her decision and I had to respect that decision. Talking about the arrival of Oscar in 2019, Gordon said: 'When I did finally arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air.' Gordon explained how Oscar arrived via C-section – or 'through the sunroof,as he put it. The TV chef was then asked what song he wanted to listen to. 'There was a lot of commotion going on,' Gordon recalled, 'I said, 'Can you play Ed Sheeran?' so they started playing Ed. They turned up the volume. 'I saw two more doctors dive in, I looked on the floor and there was blood everywhere. All of a sudden they popped him out and they came straight over to me and I went, 'Wow, wow, wow!' I sat back and collapsed like an idiot.' The pair kept Tana's pregnancy with Jesse tightly under wraps until his arrival, with the mum-of-six taking to social media after he was born revealing they'd endured a 'nerve-wracking 9 months'. She also added: 'Ramsay family complete.' Talking on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast in 2024, Tana opened up about Gordon's lack of presence in the delivery room. 'He would've gotten all squeamish and probably fainted and all the attention would've been on him, and this is my moment,' she said, mirroring Gordon's story hilariously closely. Elsewhere in the podcast, Gordon discussed how in his downtime he likes to compete in Ironmans – a long distance triathlon consisting of a 2.4mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2mile run. 'Lots of people are scared of that level of exercise,' he said, explaining: 'I know it sounds crazy, but for me it's a way of relaxing.' This podcast appearance comes after Hell's Kitchen chef admitted his three Michelin starred eatery Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is 'too posh' even for him. More Trending Gordon – who has earned 17 Michelin stars over his career – said on The Savoy Originals podcast: 'There's a very fine line, running it or indulging in it. 'I've only had dinner at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay twice in 25 years. 'Once was for Megan's birthday, and the second time was with Bradley Cooper when we were together for the film Burnt. 'It's not my style. It's too posh for me. It sounds weird, right?' Got a story? Ed Sheeran caused Gordon Ramsay to 'collapse like a wimp' as his wife gave birth

Gordon Ramsay fainted in the delivery room when his son Oscar was born, despite his wife Tana banning him from being present at the births of their first four children TV chef Gordon Ramsay fainted during the birth of his son as Ed Sheeran 's tunes serenaded the delivery room. The 58-year-old culinary star, who had previously been absent from the birthing room for his older children Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 25, and Tilly, 23, due to wife Tana Ramsay's wishes, was present for the arrival of their fifth child, Oscar. However, the Kitchen Nightmares icon's elation quickly turned to alarm when he passed out while cradling new-born Oscar, with Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' playing in the background. ‌ On the Smartless podcast, Gordon revealed: "Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. First of all, she said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' ‌ "That was her decision and I had to respect that decision. When I did final arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I f****** collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air." Gordon has been sharing some intense moments from the delivery room, recounting, "He was coming through the sun roof so there was a lot of commotion going on. They said, 'What do you want to listen to?' So I said, 'Can you play Ed Sheeran?' "So they started playing Ed, they turned up the volume, I can hear all these noises, all of a sudden I see two more doctors dive in, I look to the floor and there was blood everywhere. They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, 'Woah, woah, s***.' I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot." The celebrity chef and his wife Tana are basking in the joys of parenthood once more with their little ones Oscar and Jesse James, who joined the family in 2023. Gordon, a three Michelin star culinary maestro, is keen on instilling strong work values in his children, ensuring they understand the importance of hard graft rather than relying on their privileged background. ‌ Proud of his older children's diverse career choices, Gordon does admit to a twinge of disappointment that his daughter Tilly, aspiring to be a chef, opted for training at Ireland's Ballymaloe Cookery School instead of one of his own kitchens. Gordon emphasised the importance of balance in life, saying, "Balance is critical. Every time we were filming throughout the US the kids would come with us and then we were take them out of school two weeks early, and they put them back two weeks late, so we would do the filming schedules around the shooting schedules. "It's a lot easier now, we had four amazing kids and then Tana and I has this crazy idea to go back for more. So there's quite a big gap. Megan, she's our eldest, she's 26, she's an incredible police officer back in London. "Then we have the twins who are 25; Jack is a Royal Marines Commando, Holly is in to her fashion. And then there's Matilda, who is 23, who has just come back from culinary school, would you believe, a beautiful school called Ballymaloe. "I am a little bit miffed that she didn't ask me to train her and she's gone off elsewhere. She's seen the shows, that's the problem! You've got to give them the values, and instil those values, they can't depend on mum and dad."

Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon Ramsay passed out as Ed Sheeran's music played during son's birth

Gordon Ramsay passed out when his son was born - as Ed Sheeran's songs played in the background. The 58-year-old TV chef was never in the delivery room for the births of his first four children - Megan, 26, fraternal twins Jack and Holly, 25, and 23-year-old Tilly - because his wife Tana Ramsay was adamant that she didn't want her husband to see her in the agony of labour, nor witness the realities of child birth. Gordon though was present when his son Oscar, six, came into the world as Tana was having their baby boy via caesarean section. But the Kitchen Nightmares star's moment of joy soon soon became a moment of panic when he feinted whilst holding the newborn, all to the soundtrack of Thinking Out Loud singer Sheeran. Appearing on the Smartless podcast, Gordon said: "Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. "First of all, she said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, 'Woah, woah, s***.' I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot." Gordon and Tana - who also have son Jesse James, who was born in 2023 - are enjoying being parents to young children again to Oscar and his younger brother Jesse James, who was born in 2023. The three Michelin star chef has always tried to instil a work ethic in his older four children and not hand them everything on a plate just because they are fortunate enough to have wealthy parents. Gordon is very proud of the varied career paths each of his older children have taken, but he is a little disappointed that his daughter Tilly, who wants to be a chef, decided to be trained at Ireland's Ballymaloe Cookery School rather than at one of her father's restaurants. He said: "Balance is critical. Every time we were filming throughout the US the kids would come with us and then we were take them out of school two weeks early, and they put them back two weeks late, so we would do the filming schedules around the shooting schedules. Gordon Ramsay visited these Arizona restaurants and ranches. Here's how they're doing now

Despite growing up in England, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is no stranger to the Grand Canyon State. Ramsay filmed some iconic restaurant renovations here — including the Amy's Baking Company episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" that will forever live in infamy — but he's also gotten a taste of more than just Southwestern food. Ramsay rode a horse for the first time ever in northern Arizona. He also drove an ATV through the desert in Tucson while filming an episode of "Food Stars" in 2022. Most recently, Ramsay visited the state in early 2025 to feature two metro Phoenix restaurants on his new show "Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service." Here's a look at five restaurants Ramsay has visited in Arizona — and how they're doing now. In Episode 2 of "Secret Service," which aired May 28, Ramsay visited Caffe Boa Ahwatukee, an Italian restaurant that opened in 1995 after the owners of Caffe Boa Tempe sold naming rights to a former business partner. The two restaurants are no longer affiliated. Patrick and Jenni Larson bought the Ahwatukee Foothills location with a business partner in 2021. The couple's professional and personal struggles are chronicled with great drama in the episode. The restaurant remains open, as of the time of writing. Details: 5063 E. Elliot Road, Phoenix. 480-893-3331, Mrs. White's is the star of Episode 3 of "Secret Service," which aired on June 4. The Phoenix soul food restaurant opened in 1964 in the historically Black neighborhood of Eastlake Park. Founder Elizabeth White is still alive at 102 and has passed down the restaurant to first her son, and then her granddaughter Kianna White, who is the current manager. The restaurant remains open, as of the time of writing. Details: 808 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix. 602-262-9256, The 2013 "Kitchen Nightmares" episodes featuring this Scottsdale patisserie and Italian restaurant made history as the only time Ramsay has ever walked away from a restaurant. Owners Amy and Salomon "Samy" Bouzaglo gained national attention by horrifying the internet with their behavior on the show, which included cussing at customers and confiscating worker tips. After the episode aired, the couple made a series of Facebook posts insulting critics in all-caps, which launched them into even further virality and sparked an article from Forbes about things business owners should never do on social media. The physical location of Amy's Baking Company closed in 2015, but Amy still operates an Instagram baking account under the same name. Named one of the best pizza spots in the United States by the New York Times, Pizzeria Bianco, run by iconic local chef Chris Bianco, is one of Phoenix's most famous restaurants. Ramsay proclaimed himself a fan after eating there in 2023 while in town for Super Bowl LVII. "Chris' pizzeria — they say it's the best in America and one of the best pizzas in the world, and I can absolutely vouch for that," Ramsay told TastingTable. "It was brilliant." The restaurant remains open, as of the time of writing. Details: 623 E. Adams St., Phoenix. 602-258-8300, While technically not a restaurant, this cattle ranch near Kingman, Arizona, served Ramsay a memorable meal. The chef visited in 2019 to film an episode of "Gordon, Gino and Fred's Road Trip," a British travel and food show. Rafter S owners Lori and Emmet Sturgill taught Ramsay and his two co-hosts to ride horses and rope cattle. Rafter S organized a meal for Ramsay that included rattlesnake, fried bull testicles and Arizona beef in foil, slow-cooked in a pit in the ground for a day. The ranch is still operating, as of the time of writing. Details: 12375 N. Holstein Drive, Kingman. 928-303-1205, Reach the reporter at Follow @reia_reports on Instagram.
