Mohamed Diawara's ‘love' for defense is the upside behind Knicks' draft gamble
The newest Knick understands where his bread is buttered. 'I just love defense,' Mohamed Diawara, who was drafted by the Knicks on Thursday, said in a recent interview with Off The Grid Fitness. 'That's not the job that everybody wanna do. But I feel like it can really, really bring you some money if you could do it good. 'So you got to be a great defender and I feel like what's motivating me is I just want to play at the highest level. And I know for me to play at the highest level, I have to be a great defender. That's what motivates me.' The defensive element — along with Diawara's athleticism and the potential to stash him overseas if necessary — carried the Knicks' decision to make an upside gamble on the 20-year-old Frenchman.

Knicks get Jay Wright clarity in their head coach search
The Nova Knicks won't get their old coach behind the bench in New York. Jay Wright is not a candidate to fill the Knicks' head coaching vacancy, The Post's Stefan Bondy reported Saturday. President Leon Rose understands that Wright, who last coached in 2022 at Villanova, is happy in retirement. Advertisement That leaves one name off the list for the Knicks as they seek to replace Tom Thibodeau after his firing earlier this week. After the news about Wright broke, Josh Hart, a former Wildcat, wrote on X: 'Man thank you. Stay retired!' with a laughing emoji before tagging Wright's account. Jay Wright is not going to be a Knicks coaching candidate. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Advertisement One candidate the Knicks are considering is Jason Kidd, insider Marc Stein reported Friday. Kidd, an ex-Net and Knick, is under contract as head coach of the Mavericks, a team he led to the NBA Finals in 2024.

More players accuse former Indiana basketball team doctor of sexual misconduct
The number of former Indiana men's basketball players alleging sexual misconduct by a former team doctor is now up to 15. Attorney Michelle Simpson Tuegel told ESPN that five former Hoosiers are now named in the lawsuit and that 10 more men also plan to pursue legal action against Indiana University. In March, former Knicks guard Butch Carter was the fifth man to join the lawsuit as he alleged that Dr. Bradford Bomba 'put on gloves, lubed his fingers and told Carter to bend over the table' before Bomba then inserted at least one finger into Carter's rectum. 4 Former Indiana basketball coach Bob Knight, right, talks with Dr. Brad Bomba at a fund-raising dinner for the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in Indianapolis on Dec. 17, 2009. ASSOCIATED PRESS Bomba worked as a team physician for nearly 30 years under head coach Bobby Knight and head athletic trainer Tim Garl. Knight died in 2023, while Bomba passed away last month. Like the allegations Carter has made, the former players accuse Bomba of routinely giving rectal exams during physicals despite medical guidance not making any recommendations for them. The players allege that Knight and other school officials heard player complaints and knew of Bomba's alleged actions but did not stop anything. The players also allege that Knight and Garl continuously ordered players to continue seeing Bomba despite their complaints. 4 Legendary head coach Bobby Knight was Indiana's coach at the time of the alleged sexual misconduct. Getty Images The attorneys for Garl, who is a defendant in the case, argue that complaints are 'decades too late' and that Garl did not relevantly supervise Bomba in regard to the alleged misconduct. Before his death, Bomba was deposed last year and invoked his Fifth Amendment right, refusing to answer 45 questions. An Indiana-commissioned investigation found last month that Bomba's rectal examinations were done in a 'clinically appropriate manner' and there was 'no evidence to suggest that Dr. Bomba achieved sexual gratification.' 4 Former Knick Butch Carter is one of the players alleging sexual misconduct against Dr. Bradford Bomba. NEW YORK POST The ex-players have disputed those findings, however, as their attorney said two of her clients' stories contradict Bomba's actions not being sexual. One man said Bomba 'fondled his genitalia' during a physical and another claimed he was given a rectal exam by Bomba when he was still a minor in high school. While the lawsuit will face its challenges because of Bomba's recent death and the state of Indiana's two-year statute of limitations for bringing sexual assault claims in civil litigation, the former Hoosiers are motivated to share their stories. 4 Bobby Knight (left) and Indiana won the national championship in 1976, during Dr. Bradford Bomba's tenure. AP 'I have two sons who are the same age that I was when that happened to me,' Haris Mujezinovic, one of the plaintiffs from the initial lawsuit, wrote in an email to ESPN. 'At the time I viewed myself as an adult, but now I realize, looking at my own kids, how young and powerless me and my teammates actually were. 'The adults within the basketball program who were entrusted with our care knew what was happening to us. They joked about it and let it continue.'

Mitchell Robinson left feeling ‘like s–t' after long road back ends with Knicks playoff heartbreak
INDIANAPOLIS — A long and arduous road back for Mitchell Robinson led him all the way back to the Knicks' starting lineup in the Eastern Conference finals. It made the way it all ended Saturday that much more painful. 'S–tty, bro. Like s–t,' Robinson described his feelings at his locker following the Knicks' season-ending 125-108 loss to the Pacers in Game 6. 'I don't even got words, to be honest with you. 'Obviously, I didn't play the full year, came back in, what, late February, March and grinded the whole time all the way up to this point. 'I'm happy that we got this far, but I don't know, man. We gave away two [games] at home early, then we were playing out of a hole, and you can't do that.' 3 Mitchell Robinson dunks the ball during the Knicks' 125-108 season-ending Game 6 loss to the Pacers on May 31, 2025. Charles Wenzelberg Robinson missed the first four months of the regular season following surgery to repair an ankle injury suffered in last year's playoffs. The longest-tenured Knick returned to the starting lineup in Memphis on Feb. 28, and he appeared in 17 regular-season games and all 18 in three rounds of the playoffs. With the starting unit struggling defensively at the start of games, Robinson finally was inserted into the starting lineup alongside Karl-Anthony Towns in Game 3 against the Pacers, with Josh Hart moving to a reserve role. The 7-foot Robinson provided eight points on 4-for-4 shooting with nine rebounds and two blocked shots in Game 6, with five of those boards coming on the offensive end, all in the first half. 3 Mitchell Robinson attempts to pull down a rebound during the Knicks' Game 6 loss to the Pacers. Charles Wenzelberg 3 Mitchell Robinson greets Tyrese Haliburton after the Knicks' Game 6 loss. Charles Wenzelberg He didn't have as much of a two-way impact in the second half, however, and admitted he 'should've kept my energy up, but I feel like I didn't play to my full potential.' Still, Robinson's unique ability to provide extra possessions for the Knicks on the offensive end helped keep them within four points at halftime despite slow starts by Towns and Jalen Brunson. Josh Hart knows Knicks could be heading for ‘changes' after playoff run falls short
INDIANAPOLIS — Josh Hart is preparing for changes. The Knicks likely will not be the same next season, as much as Hart would like to see the same roster return. 'You're always going to hear me say, 'Run it back,' ' Hart said after the Knicks' season ended in dismal fashion with a 125-108, Game 6 loss to the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. 'I think you heard me say the same thing last year with the guys we had. I'd like to do it. I feel like this team is good enough to make the next step. But it's a business. And when you don't get to where you feel like you could've or should've, changes are made.' It will be interesting to see how the Knicks proceed after reaching the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. The entire core of Hart, Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson and Miles McBride are under contract for next season. 3 Josh Hart defends Tyrese Haliburton during the Knicks' 125-108 season-ending Game 6 loss to the Pacers on May 31, 2025.. Charles Wenzelberg Coach Tom Thibodeau called it a 'big offseason' coming up. Brunson said he was 'the most confident' the current group can take the next step. But Hart has seen enough in his time in the NBA to know that things can change. 3 OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart are pictured on the Knicks' bench during their Game 6 loss. Charles Wenzelberg 3 Josh Hart (l.) reacts in frustration during the Knicks' Game 6 loss to the Pacers. Charles Wenzelberg 'This is my eighth year. This is my fourth organization. I've had six or seven coaches,' Hart said. 'It's tough, we're going to have to see. Don't think you can ever be too comfortable. I'll open [the X app] one day and I'm somewhere else. That's what's disappointing the most, knowing there's a good chance this team might not be back in totality.' Former Knick Obi Toppin saved his best moments of the series for the final game. Toppin hammered the Knicks off the bench, scoring 18 points and adding six rebounds in 25 minutes. He was part of a monster effort by the Indiana reserves. They had 38 points. Forward Thomas Bryant scored 11 points and hit three 3-pointers. He logged a total of nine minutes in the previous four games. Thibodeau said he went to Delon Wright over the final four games of the series instead of Cam Payne because he wanted more size against Pacers backup guard T.J. McConnell. As for Landry Shamet, Thibodeau said he didn't play much in the Celtics series because Boston was only going eight deep and the idea was to match up Bridges and Anunoby against Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
