Rams DT Kobie Turner says LA already has Week 3 matchup vs. Eagles circled on the calendar

Rams DT Kobie Turner on the Eagles: 'Man, we definitely have that game circled. I have that game circled. And I'm super excited to get another crack at those guys.' The Rams and Eagles have gotten quite familiar over the past three years, and the two teams met in a hard-fought 28-23 win for Philadelphia in which a Jalen Carter sack on Matthew Stafford prevented a likely touchdown pass. The Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl and return as one of the best teams in the NFL. Fast forward six months, and Los Angeles has added Davante Adams, while Philadelphia has added Jihaad Campbell among others, while maintaining a championship roster. The Eagles are receiving their Super Bowl 59 rings on Friday, and Rams defensive tackle Kobie Turner had a message for the champs. During a sit-down with 'The Insiders' for NFL Network, Turner revealed that the Rams have the Week 3 matchup in Philadelphia circled. The Rams brought back Matthew Stafford on a new deal, moved on from Cooper Kupp, and upgraded with the free agent signing of all-world wide receiver Davante Adams. In that January 19 victory, Philadelphia appeared to put the game away after going up 28-15, but the Rams scored a late fourth-quarter touchdown to pull within seven. After the Eagles could not maximize their final offensive drive, the Rams had one final shot on a ten-play, 60-yard drive that fell short with an incomplete pass to Puka Nucau at the Philadelphia 22-yard line Saquon Barkley was dominant again and had touchdown runs of 78 and 62 yards, finishing with 205 yards of rushing. Overall, Barkley had three 70+ yard touchdown runs against the Rams in two games and finished with 460 rushing yards in two games.

3 Rams make PFN's top-100 player list for 2025

The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of star power on the roster heading into 2025. From veterans like Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams to young studs like Jared Verse and Puka Nacua. Where those players stand in the pantheon of the league is up for debate, but Pro Football Network's Brandon Austin ranked his top 100 players for 2025 based on their site's model. He ranked three Rams players in the top 100: defensive tackle Kobie Turner, Nacua and Verse. Here's how they all ranked out: No. 50: Kobie Turner Kobie Turner has solidified himself as a cornerstone of the Los Angeles Rams' defensive line in the post-Aaron Donald era. Playing in all 17 regular-season games, Turner recorded 62 tackles, including 35 solo, 8.0 sacks, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble. Turner has looked impressive in his first two seasons with the Rams. Surrounded by other promising young talents like Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, and Byron Young, Turner will be part of a formidable defensive front for years to come. No. 43: Puka Nacua Puka Nacua turned heads with a record-setting rookie season, and the expectations were high heading into Year 2. The former fifth-round pick missed time early in the season due to injury but still managed to catch 79 passes for 990 yards and three touchdowns. Nacua grabbed the top spot in our WR+ rankings last year, thanks to some strong efficiency numbers, including 3.57 yards per route run (first among WRs) and 6.6 yards after catch per reception (15th). Cooper Kupp is gone, and Davante Adams is in, which should take some pressure off Nacua. It should improve his efficiency, as Adams' presence should open up the field. Nacua's connection with Matthew Stafford is clear, and the stage is set for another big year. No. 9: Jared Verse As Verse heads into his sophomore campaign, expectations are understandably sky-high. He is poised to make an even greater impact after a full offseason to work on his technique. With Verse's rare speed, power, and instincts, his sack total could climb in a significant way. The absence of Adams, Stafford, and running back Kyren Williams is somewhat surprising, as these rankings seemed to favor younger players over established starters in some areas. For the Rams as a team, Stafford, Adams and Williams might be just as important as the names listed above. Where they sit among the rest of the league matters less than how they affect the team itself. This article originally appeared on Rams Wire: 3 Rams make PFN's top-100 player list for 2025

Rams' 'most promising building block' isn't who you'd expect

The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of young pieces throughout their roster. On offense, the obvious names are receiver Puka Nacua, running back Kyren Williams and rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson — although we'll see how he turns out. On defense, there's a bevy of players like Jared Verse, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Braden Fiske, Kamren Kinchens and, maybe, rookies Josiaiah Stewart and Chris Paul Jr. All of them are quality building blocks for a team looking to remain competitive in the waning seasons of Matthew Stafford. But when Bleacher Report's Moe Moton went through every team's "most promising building block," he didn't land on a name you'd expect like Nacua or Verse. That's because Moton specified that his list comprises of players who haven't made the Pro Bowl or All-Pro teams yet — and Nacua and Verse both have. Therefore, Moton picked defensive tackle Kobie Turner for this accolade. On the Los Angeles Rams roster, you can take your pick among Kobie Turner, Byron Young and Braden Fiske who qualify as building blocks without a Pro Bowl or All-Pro season. Among the three, Turner stands out because of his versatility and sack totals in two seasons. Edge-rushers are expected to rack up pressures and take down quarterbacks. Next offseason, Turner could be one of the highest-paid defensive tackles because of his pass-rushing production. In two campaigns, Turner has registered 17 sacks and 42 pressures while lining up in various spots across the defensive line. Whether he's lined up at nose tackle or defensive end, the multiskilled defender can make plays in the most impactful way for linemen on passing downs. Turner has made his presence felt alongside Aaron Donald and filled an interior void after the star defensive tackle retired last offseason. Turner has quietly been picking up lots of acclaim this offseason. ESPN's survey of coaches, executives and scouts ranked him among the top-10 best defensive tackles in 2025 and The Ringer's Diante Lee picked Turner as the "biggest success story" among a new generation of defensive players. He's certainly turned heads in just a few season and now enters a critical year with veteran Poona Ford alongside him in L.A.

Rams' 25 most important players for 2025 – No. 15: DL Braden Fiske

Can Fiske pick up where he left off as a rookie with a team-high 8.5 sacks? For the second straight year, the Los Angeles Rams hit a pair of home runs in the NFL draft along the defensive front. In 2023, it was Kobie Turner and Byron Young. Last year, it was Braden Fiske and Jared Verse. Fiske had an immediate impact as a rookie in 2024, recording a team-high 8.5 sacks and notching 10 tackles for a loss in the 17 games he played. He unfortunately got hurt in the playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and needed minor offseason surgery, but he's back to being 100% and ready to roll in 2025. Paired with Turner on the D-line, as well as newcomer Poona Ford in the middle, Fiske is in for a big season. It's why he's No. 15 on our camp countdown list of the Rams' 25 most important players. How he got here The Rams coveted Fiske in the 2024 draft, trading up 13 spots from No. 52 to 39 in the second round. To do so, they gave up the 155th pick and a 2025 second-rounder, which was a high price to pay – but one that has already been worth it. 2024 stats 17 games (8 starts): 44 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 10 TFL, 10 QB hits, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries Projected role Fiske will be one of the Rams' starting defensive linemen again in 2025 and after playing 59% of the team's snaps last season, he should see an uptick in that department this year. He can play 3-tech defensive tackle or move out further as a 5-tech end where he lines up over the offensive tackle, splitting time between both spots last year. He can rush the passer from just about anywhere, which gives Chris Shula plenty of options with his dynamic defenders up front. He does need to improve as a run defender, which could limit his early down snaps, but he quickly became an outstanding pass rusher on the interior. Why he's important Aaron Donald and the game's best defensive tackles have shown what a massive impact interior pressure can have on an opposing offense and Fiske is on a path to becoming dominant, too. He was especially good late in the year when he had at least a half-sack in each of the Rams' last four games, including their two playoff matchups. In his final four games, he had 16 total pressures and four sacks, consistently disrupting opponents from the interior. With so many promising and talented pass rushers up front, Fiske has a chance to feast on his one-on-one matchups inside. He's poised for a breakout year now that he's fully acclimated to the NFL and how linemen are game planning against him. Follow Rams Wire on X, Facebook and Threads for more coverage!

Kobie Turner Reveals What Really Killed Rams' 2024 Season

Kobie Turner Reveals What Really Killed Rams' 2024 Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kobie Turner enjoyed paradise with the rest of his Los Angeles Rams teammates in Maui for minicamp. But he was also reflective on what could've been for the 2024 team. Advertisement The interior defensive lineman star and L.A. had the Philadelphia Eagles facing elimination. Philly ultimately escaped 28-22 in a snow covered Lincoln Financial Field. Turner and the Rams defense did everything they could to try to knock off the Eagles. He led all defensive linemen that day with five solo stops including two for a loss. Was it really Saquon Barkley who killed off the Rams' 2024 season. Turner told Rams reporter J.B. Long that it was much more than that. Jared Verse, Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske celebrate a stop for the Rams in 2024. (Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images) "Over the course of this last year, what killed us was a lot of the big plays – in particular, a lot of big runs,' Turner explained. Advertisement Barkley wasn't the sole running back who gashed the Rams, by Turner's admission. "If you really look at a lot of those games where we gave up a bunch of rushing yards, it wasn't every single play they're getting a bunch of yards. It was a couple of those plays where we fit it up wrong or a couple of those plays where maybe we got caught out," Turner said. Barkley scored two touchdowns of 70+ yards during their regular season meeting. L.A. ranked 22nd against rushing yardage. They also surrendered a 36-yard TD run from D'Andre Swift in the 24-18 loss to the Chicago Bears. The plan is simple moving forward for the 2025 Rams defense, with Turner now entering season three. Advertisement "It's about minimizing those big plays," he said. "I mean, that's what the league is nowadays. Obviously, the points matter the most, the turnover margin matters the second-most but after that it's the explosive plays.' There'll be new optimism for this Rams run defense. Braden Fiske is expected to return from his late season right knee ailment. The team also drafted talented run stuffer Chris Paul Jr. out of Ole Miss. Then there's Jared Verse entering season two after establishing himself as the league's top defensive rookie.
