Abhishek Bachchan Gets Nostalgic About Bhopal And His ‘Nani's Kosha Mangsho'
Last Updated: Abhishek also revealed that his Nani is the real cook in the family and not his mom, Jaya Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan is currently gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated film, Kaalidhar Laapata. Premiering on ZEE5 on July 4, the trailer of the gripping thriller has already created a stir online, building anticipation for its digital release. To keep the buzz soaring, the lead actor is leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. Now, Abhishek sat for an interview with an entertainment media portal where he opened up about his most cherished experiences and greatest learning while shooting for the film. In a candid interview with Zoom, Abhishek offered a personal insight from the shoot, which took place extensively in Bhopal, his maternal hometown. 'We shot extensively in and around Bhopal, which is my nanhiyal (maternal home). And I think the greatest learning for me during the making of this film was that you will never, ever, ever put on weight when your grandmother feeds you with love," Abhishek said with a smile. He fondly recalled returning to his grandmother's home every evening after wrap-up to eat home-cooked Kosha Mangsho. 'My Nani, by the grace of God, is 95 and still with us. She'd have Kosha Mangsho ready every night. It was all set, made with love, fed with love—and you'll never put on weight when it's like that." Abhishek also revealed that his Nani is the real cook in the family, joking, 'My mom is not a cook. So whenever I'm in Bhopal, it's a lot of fun—you get spoiled. So yes, my biggest learning is: when your Nani feeds you with love, you'll never put on weight." Beyond the film, the Guru actor also spoke about life in his star-studded joint family, which includes his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, father Amitabh Bachchan, mother Jaya Bachchan, and daughter Aaradhya. 'It's funny," he said, adding, 'We're all actors. We love hanging out together, and then suddenly everyone just goes back to their own spaces. That comes naturally because for actors it is important to spend time with yourself and get to know yourself. Self-discovery is something that we rarely do. It's essential, but I would never want to be a loner." Directed by Madhumita, Kaalidhar Laapata also stars Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and promises an intense, emotional narrative packed with suspense. Looking ahead, Abhishek will next be seen in the action-thriller King. Set for release in 2026, the film has already generated significant buzz thanks to its star-studded cast. The film will be headlined by Shah Rukh Khan as a powerful assassin entrenched in the criminal underworld. Abhishek joins Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma, while reports suggest that Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji and Anil Kapoor have also been roped in for pivotal roles. First Published:
