Longhorns recruiting prospect cuts his list down to three teams

NEWS: Elite 2026 EDGE Jake Kreul is down to Oklahoma, Ole Miss, & Texas, he tells me for @rivalsThe 6'3 235 EDGE from Orlando, FL is one of the Top Pass Rushers in the '26 ClassWhere Should He Go? ⬇️ One of the Longhorns' top recruiting targets in the 2026 class provided a reason for optimism earlier this week. On Tuesday, talented edge rusher Jake Kreul cut his list to three programs. The programs that are still in the mix are Texas, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. He would provide a massive boost to any of those defenses. Currently, the Orlando native is ranked as the eighth-best prospect in his class by 247Sports. They also rank Kreul as the seventh-best player from Florida and the 60th-best in the nation. Due to his ability to make life difficult for offensive coordinators, he has drawn interest from some of the best programs in the country. Earlier this summer, the IMG Academy product took official visits to every school still in the running. He also took trips to Colorado, Florida, and Ohio State. For the Longhorns, It is a good sign that they are still in the running. If they can land Kreul, then an already talented 2026 class would see it's ranking rise. During his junior season, Kreul recorded 39 tackles, including 12 for a loss. He also added six sacks to his resume and thrived in a very competitive conference. Due to his play, Kruel got to shine on the national stage when he participated in the Armour All-American Game. If he can meet expectations in college, then that will not be the only showcase he will have been able to say he played in. Over the last few weeks, Oklahoma has been seen as the favorite when it comes to Kreul. The Sooners have built an impressive 2026 class, but the Longhorns have been a staple in the college playoffs the last few years. They will be a team to watch as Kreul weighs his best option. When it comes to Kreul, there is a lot to like about his game, and the Longhorns are hoping he picks Texas as the place to start his college career.

Oklahoma Sooners make top 3 for elite defensive end Jake Kreul

The Oklahoma Sooners remain in the mix for one of the best defensive ends in the 2026 recruiting class as Jake Kreul narrowed his recruitment to three schools on Tuesday night. Kreul, a five-star prospect according to ESPN, is down to the Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, and the Texas Longhorns. He has offers from 36 Power Four schools and has the chance to finish the cycle as a consensus five-star prospect. Based on a prediction from On3/Rivals national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong back on June 24, the Sooners appear to be the favorites to land a commitment from Kreul. Cody Carpentier, who covers Texas recruiting for Rivals, also predicted Oklahoma to be the landing spot back in June. The Sooners and defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis has done a great job in OU's recruitment of Kreul, putting them in a great spot to land the elite defensive end prospect. Now that it appears they just have Ole Miss and Texas to contend with, all the Sooners need to do is close out the recruitment with a commitment and get him signed during the early signing period. Oklahoma Sooners projected to land elite defensive end prospect Jake Kreul

The Oklahoma Sooners have been making noise on the recruiting trail over the last several week, picking up several commitments over the last few days in the 2026 recruiting class. On Monday they added three-star linebacker Beau Jandreau and four-star defensive end Daniel Norman. And now they may be close to locking up another talented defender. On Tuesday evening, On3's vice president of recruiting and transfer portal Steve Wiltfong issued a prediction favoring the Sooners for defensive end Jake Kreul. Kreul is considered a five-star player in the 2026 cycle by ESPN and a four-star prospect by Rivals, On3, and 247Sports. Kreul was just in town for an official visit during the ChampU BBQ and it looks like the Sooners have moved the needle. He's a consensus top 100 player in the class and a top-15 EDGE in the cycle. Also notable was a prediction flip on Tuesday night from Orangebloods and Rivals recruiting analyst Cody Carpentier, who switched his projection from Florida to the Oklahoma Sooners. Kreul is one of the elite prospects in the 2026 cycle, showing a technical refinement to his game. Locked On's recruiting analyst Brian Smith called Kreul "the most technically advanced high school edge rusher" he's ever seen. The IMG Academy has an elite offer sheet from a total of 36 Power Four schools, which includes Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Florida, and many more. And you can see why. He's an excellent pass rusher with a motor to match. He can win with speed, power, or by utilizing his technique to get by offensive tackles. Though Oklahoma still has to lock up his commitment and get him signed as the elite recruiting programs continue to push for Kreul's services, the Sooners have put themselves in a position to land a day-one contributor in Jake Kreul. He was just as effective on the interior as out wide. The four-star prospect plays downhill with strong hands and a high motor. Brewster is bendy and versatile plus provides major pass rush juice from the interior defensive line. Advertisement He's one of the top prospects in the country in the 2027 class with more than 30 scholarship offers. ASHARRI CHARLES - Miami The Venice (Fla.) High School standout has built up his resume as a combo rusher over the years because he's savvy against the pass and stout against the run with a good motor. The ceiling has never looked better for the four-star, especially as he carries more bulk on his 6-foot-3 frame without any signs of slowing down. He won in Miami against fellow Power Four prospects with quickness, including a pretty inside spin move and a smooth dip on the outside, so as the power becomes permanent a full package could soon be at his disposal. JAKE KREUL - Miami Kreul can beat blockers in such a variety of ways. He gets easy early leverage off of the snap because of his elite first-step. That edge bending ability and elite first step has most offensive tackles bailing upon the snap of the ball. Advertisement But Kreul has really progressed with his counter game, overall strength and hand technique. He's the complete package as a pass rusher. JAREYLAN MCCOY - Atlanta McCoy gave opposing tackles in Atlanta fits all day rushing from a two-point stance and also with a hand in the dirt. The Mississippi blue-chipper has length and can win with either speed or power, and continues to build up an array of pass-rush moves to keep tackles off-balance. McCoy had some of the best reps of anyone in the Rivals Camp Series at the DL position. KHARY WILDER - Los Angeles Wilder not only was super impressive in Los Angeles during one-on-one reps using speed and power to his advantage but his measurables were incredible with an 81-inch wingspan. You'll certainly hear about his measurables again once it's his time for the NFL Draft. Advertisement The Gardena (Calif.) Serra product got a major rankings bump after his performance where he displayed speed, power and toughness along with great measurables. And at 6-foot-4 and 256 pounds, Wilder also has a frame where he could easily add 20 more pounds and keep his dominant speed. Ohio State nabbed one of the country's best with him.
