Rivals Camp Series: The five best DL of the 2025 regionals

The regional stops of the Rivals Camp Series are in the books with the Rivals Five-Star at the Indianapolis Colts' practice facility coming up later this month.
Today, we continue our look at the best players at each position through the regional events with the defensive linemen.

JALEN BREWSTER - Dallas
Brewster was explosive playing multiple positions on the interior defensive line in Dallas. He was just as effective on the interior as out wide. The four-star prospect plays downhill with strong hands and a high motor. Brewster is bendy and versatile plus provides major pass rush juice from the interior defensive line.

He's one of the top prospects in the country in the 2027 class with more than 30 scholarship offers.
ASHARRI CHARLES - Miami
The Venice (Fla.) High School standout has built up his resume as a combo rusher over the years because he's savvy against the pass and stout against the run with a good motor.
The ceiling has never looked better for the four-star, especially as he carries more bulk on his 6-foot-3 frame without any signs of slowing down. He won in Miami against fellow Power Four prospects with quickness, including a pretty inside spin move and a smooth dip on the outside, so as the power becomes permanent a full package could soon be at his disposal.
JAKE KREUL - Miami
Kreul can beat blockers in such a variety of ways. He gets easy early leverage off of the snap because of his elite first-step. That edge bending ability and elite first step has most offensive tackles bailing upon the snap of the ball.

But Kreul has really progressed with his counter game, overall strength and hand technique. He's the complete package as a pass rusher.
JAREYLAN MCCOY - Atlanta
McCoy gave opposing tackles in Atlanta fits all day rushing from a two-point stance and also with a hand in the dirt. The Mississippi blue-chipper has length and can win with either speed or power, and continues to build up an array of pass-rush moves to keep tackles off-balance.
McCoy had some of the best reps of anyone in the Rivals Camp Series at the DL position.
KHARY WILDER - Los Angeles
Wilder not only was super impressive in Los Angeles during one-on-one reps using speed and power to his advantage but his measurables were incredible with an 81-inch wingspan. You'll certainly hear about his measurables again once it's his time for the NFL Draft.

The Gardena (Calif.) Serra product got a major rankings bump after his performance where he displayed speed, power and toughness along with great measurables. And at 6-foot-4 and 256 pounds, Wilder also has a frame where he could easily add 20 more pounds and keep his dominant speed.
Ohio State nabbed one of the country's best with him.

The elite tight end prospect was warming up and went through the majority of position drills when he pulled his hamstring and was unable to work out the rest of the day. Prothro was visibly disappointed but his physical development, which was the biggest question mark surrounding his ranking, was obvious. He weighed in at 216 pounds and, despite the pulled hamstring, even participated in the bench press competition where he recorded nine reps of 225 pounds. Georgia is trending in Prothro's recruitment but Auburn and a handful of other teams are in pursuit. The caliber of defender Georgia commit Lincoln Keyes faced at Five-Star was new to him and it was good for the national analyst team to evaluate him under these conditions. The Michigan native is a very impressive prospect with great hands and the ability to make tough catches over the middle and down the field. He'll be a very reliable target for Georgia quarterbacks when he gets on the field in Athens but that could take some time. Keyes has a well-rounded game but he could find it difficult to consistently create separation from defenders when he reaches the next level. That being said, the style Keyes plays with would complement Prothro's skillset beautifully, if both do end up signing with Georgia. The two highly ranked tight ends were frequently seen chatting and playing catch during the down time on Tuesday. That relationship appears to be fairly strong and could pay dividends for the Dawgs down the road. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT Holden Niemi was a late addition to the Rivals Five-Star roster and took advantage of the opportunity to make a strong impression. The 2027 prospect out of Illinois is fairly well-developed from a physical perspective and showed strong athletic traits throughout the workout on Tuesday. Adjusting to the variety of quarterbacks seemed to be a bit challenging for him at times, which resulted in passes falling incomplete. Niemi is only heading into his junior season so there is plenty of time for him to make adjustments to his game before he reaches the next level. He is, however, on the smaller side when it comes to the trends that have emerged in the NFL Draft for tight ends so keeping an eye on his physical growth will be a focus going forward. Tennessee tight end commit Carson Sneed posted impressive measurements during registration on Monday and he had plenty of bright spots on the field Tuesday. At 6-foot-6, 246 pounds, Sneed is fairly lean but plays with a great deal of strength, which showed when linebackers and defensive backs bounced off of him as they tried to disrupt his routes. He isn't the most natural receiver but there is plenty of potential to get excited about, which is surely part of the reason why Florida, North Carolina and others are trying to pry him away from the Volunteers. Brewers May Decide To Hold All-Star Starter Through Trade Deadline

The Milwaukee Brewers have surged back in the National League Central race after going 8-2 in their last 10, and are in a position to add instead of subtract at the trade deadline. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reasoned through their choices for starting pitcher Freddy Peralta. "Trading him at the deadline – after an offseason in which the Brewers parted with Hader's successor, Devin Williams, and lost shortstop Willy Adames to free agency – likely would not be received well, both inside and outside the clubhouse." Rosenthal compared a potential trade of Freddy Peralta to the trade of closer Josh Hader in 2022, when the team was in the hunt and traded their All-Star closer and missed the playoffs. Peralta has a 2.90 ERA entering Saturday and has had his name floated around in the early portion of the season with the Brewers barely treading water. The script has been flipped, and they are now in the heat of a three-team race in the National League Central with the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Peralta's outlook has certainly changed in the past couple of weeks as a result of the Brewers' hot streak. If the Brewers hold onto Peralta, they could put together a formidable trio in the playoffs with left-hander José Quintana and rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski for the playoffs. If they trade Peralta, they severely hinder their chances of making October at all. Peralta's value might not be higher than it is now with a club option for next season before turning loose as a free agent in 2027. But the Brewers have seen a change in fate, lining themselves up to compete for the playoffs. A couple of bad weeks could flip the script, and Peralta may be on the market after all. Lugo has a 2.93 ERA entering Saturday, which has Passan and McDaniel slot him as the No. 6 candidate leading up to the trade deadline. Lugo would slot in nicely to the Cubs' rotation, giving them another strong option behind Shota Imanga, who returned in Thursday's contest against the Cardinals. Cubs starting pitchers are 23rd in baseball in ERA, and their high-octane offense has kept them in the division lead thus far, but they could run out of gas at any point. The Royals made the playoffs last season and had expectations to return this year but have struggled to produce offensively this season, resulting in their sub-.500 record. If the Royals sell at the trade deadline, the Cubs would benefit by at least considering the option of adding Lugo to their ranks. Lugo's fate could be sealed in a few weeks if the Royals fail to get the ship back on course, and the Cubs should be at the top of the list to call upon leading up to the deadline.
