Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis photos emerge amid sad Matildas news

Sam Kerr and fiance Kristie Mewis have been snapped looking over the construction of their future oceanfront home in North Coogee, Perth. The happy couple purchased the 200-square-metre piece of land back in August 2023 for an eye-watering $940,000. As Kerr, 31, made her way around the construction site, Mewis, 34, was seen holding a paint colour swatch with the words 'Snowy Mountains' written on it. The dream home which is set to be three levels when completed, is just up the road from Kerr's childhood home that was in Kardinya. While the images of the happy couple's visit to the site of their forever home are heartwarming, they paint a sad truth for the future of Australia's greatest soccer player. Kerr has been sidelined for more than 18 months after suffering an ACL injury during a training camp with Chelsea in early January, 2024. She suffered a setback on her road to recovery after having to undergo more surgery. In promising news however the operation wasn't related to the torn ACL. Her extended stint on the sidelines however has cruelled her time with WSL side Chelsea with her contract set to expire in June, 2026. The injury delay also means sad news for the Matildas and fans of the game with Kerr's prime arguably now in the rearview mirror. Australia's all-time leading international goal scorer has done almost everything the game has to offer, even becoming the first ever female footballer to grace the cover of a FIFA video game. But after almost two years since she last pulled on the boots, any hopes of her returning to her world-beating best may now be a thing of the past. With her contract at Chelsea set to expire in less than a year and a timetable on her return still up in the air, Kerr could potentially stick around and play in Australia. A move that could be followed by Mewis after she was let go by West Ham United in early July after two years at the English club. 'Even though my time at West Ham was not what I envisioned, I still learned so much and met so many amazing people,' she said. 'Everyone, but especially my teammates were incredibly supportive through my injury and pregnancy and I can't thank them enough for it. Nothing has been more important to me than football … but having my son has changed that 'Thank you @westhamwomen and thank you for helping me become a mom.' The couple who welcomed their first child in May and now with their dream home nearing completion, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see the duo stick around in Australia for the foreseeable future.

Sam Kerr's partner Kristie Mewis let go by West Ham United

Kristie Mewis' relationship with West Ham United has come to an end. The 34-year-old partner of Matildas superstar Sam Kerr confirmed the split with a heartfelt post on social media. 'Even though my time at West Ham was not what I envisioned, I still learned so much and met so many amazing people,' she said. 'Everyone, but especially my teammates were incredibly supportive through my injury and pregnancy and I can't thank them enough for it. Nothing has been more important to me than football … but having my son has changed that 'Thank you @westhamwomen and thank you for helping me become a mom.' After joining the club in 2023, Mewis only appeared in four matches with the Women's Super League outfit. Mewis had just returned to the training track after giving birth to the couple's first child before the club announced the news. 'On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank Kristie for her contributions to West Ham United during her time in East London,' Club manager Rehanne Skinner said. 'Kristie has been unlucky with injuries since she joined us so probably hasn't played in the famous Claret and Blue as many times as she would have liked, but it's still been a total pleasure having someone of her calibre and experience within our team environment. 'As Kristie starts to navigate her new norm of motherhood, we fully appreciate that her priorities have changed and so, whatever the future has in store for her and her family, I would like to wish them all the very best. Kerr and Mewis announced the birth of their son, Jagger, in May but their adorable news was quickly overshadowed by conservative politicians. Family First national director Lyle Shelton used the opportunity to slam the pair's decision, claiming by raising Jagger they are 'depriving' the child of his 'human rights'. 'A baby is born – but where's dad?' Shelton wrote alongside a picture of the loved-up couple with their newborn. 'Family First congratulates Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis on the birth of their son – but we must speak a truth too many are afraid to say. 'No child should be deliberately deprived of their father. Children aren't lifestyle accessories – they're human beings with rights.' It's not the first time the couple have been targeted by hatred and homophobia on social media with the backlash pouring in when Kerr announced in December their family would be expanding. Kerr and Mewis have been together since 2021 and got engaged in 2023. It is understood the pair met around six months after the Matildas captain had moved to London in 2019, to join Women's Super League (WSL) giant Chelsea. Speaking about how they met during Kerr's recent high-profile court case, where the Matildas forward was cleared of the racially aggravated harassment of a British police officer, the five-time WSL winner revealed the American footballer had 'slid into her DMs' during lockdown and shortly after they began dating. And while off-the-field life is better than ever for Kerr, the Matildas star still continues to battle a troublesome ACL that has kept her off the football field since January 2024.

Sam Kerr's fiancée Kristie Mewis looks strained as she steps out with Matildas superstar in Perth after getting some awful news

Football star Kristie Mewis wore a strained expression while stepping out in Perth with fiancée Sam Kerr and new son Jagger, just days after confirming her shock departure from West Ham. The new family of three, who recently returned from a beachside holiday in Spain, made a rare public appearance together in Kerr's home town on Sunday morning. The sporting power couple, dressed casually with their two-month-old son in a carrier, enjoyed brunch with Kerr's parents before later catching up with Matildas star Emily van Egmond. Kerr is back in Perth for the Matildas' matches in Western Australia, with their last outing against Panama coming on Tuesday. The Matildas skipper is not part of the Aussie squad for the four friendlies as she continues to recover from the serious knee injury she sustained in January last year. Last week, West Ham announced that Mewis's time with the club has come to an end. The 34-year-old joined the Hammers in 2023, but only managed four appearances during her spell with the Women's Super League club. She had just got back into training in preparation for a return to the field before the sad news about her career became public. Club manager Rehanne Skinner said: 'On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank Kristie for her contributions to West Ham United during her time in east London. 'Kristie has been unlucky with injuries since she joined us so probably hasn't played in the famous Claret and Blue as many times as she would have liked, but it's still been a total pleasure having someone of her calibre and experience within our team environment. 'As Kristie starts to navigate her new norm of motherhood, we fully appreciate that her priorities have changed and so, whatever the future has in store for her and her family, I would like to wish them all the very best.' Mewis confirmed the news later with a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the Hammers for the support they provided. 'Even though my time at West Ham was not what I envisioned, I still learned so much and met so many amazing people,' she said. 'Everyone, but especially my teammates were incredibly supportive through my injury and pregnancy and I can't thank them enough for it. Nothing has been more important to me than football… but having my son has changed that. Mewis (pictured left with Kerr and van Egmond) revealed her shock at her exit from West Ham, writing that her time with the club was 'not what I envisioned' 'Thank you @westhamwomen and thank you for helping me become a mom.' Kerr and Mewis' relationship began around 2020, gaining public attention during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 when they shared a heartfelt moment on the field. They officially confirmed their relationship in August 2021 through an Instagram post. In September 2023, they got engaged, announcing it publicly in November of the same year. Their engagement was followed by the news in November 2024 that they were expecting their first child. They are expected to marry in December this year.

Sam Kerr completely blindsides her fans by making a shock move as she battles to beat secret injury setback

Matildas superstar Sam Kerr has shocked her fans by making a surprise return to training with the national side as they prepare for their first matches under new coach Joe Montemurro. The Chelsea star let fans in on her shock move with an Instagram post showing a photo of the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Perth, where the Tillies are training, and a shot of her feet as she was about to take the field, along with three grinning face with sweat emojis. Kerr was not named in the team's 33-player squad to take on in friendlies on Slovenia and Panama in friendlies to be held on June 26 and 29, and July 5 and 8. She also wasn't sighted as her teammates arrived down under to begin their preparation over the last few days. It's the first time Kerr has trained with the side since April, when she did some light work ahead of the friendlies against South Korea but did not see any playing time. She has just finished a holiday in Mallorca with fiancee Kristie Mewis and their baby son Jagger. The 31-year-old suffered a serious knee injury when she ruptured her ACL during a training camp with Chelsea in January last year. Her progress with the knee has been the subject of heavy speculation as it has taken longer than expected. In April, Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor revealed Kerr would not return before the end of the Women's Super League season in England. Earlier this month, Montemurro revealed that the striker had been forced to undergo a second surgical 'intervention' on a fresh mystery injury that had been kept a secret from fans. It was reported that Kerr returned to Australia to undergo the procedure and she made a surprise appearance at the A-League Women's grand final in May, about a week after Mewis gave birth to their son. Montemurro stated he won't be making an official call on Kerr's future as Australia captain, until she returns to play. He explained that Kerr was back training on grass, having undergone the surgical procedure, while also revealing that her knee injury was much better. 'I think there were some complications and I've only caught up with the scenario in the last 24 hours,' he said. 'There was a subsequent intervention, but I do believe she is now back running. 'I think it was something completely different (to the existing knee injury). I think the knee is fine. 'I think there was some other issues, but again I've only been briefed in the last 24 hours.' Thursday night's match against Slovenia will be Montemurro's first match in charge of the side and the four friendlies are an important building block ahead of the 2026 Asian Cup in Australia, the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, and the 2028 Olympics. Montemurro has already held meetings with his players, and Clare Wheeler is liking the fluid and control-style game plan the former Arsenal, Lyon and Juventus coach is encouraging. 'As a midfielder, you want to get on the ball,' Wheeler said. 'So it's great when a coach says that he wants you on the ball. I think that's music to our ears. 'And it's also a challenge ... especially against, opposition where you're under pressure a lot. 'But I think when you have that trust from your coach that believes in the team to be able to do that, it feels good.
