LG Manoj Sinha Launches Dedicated Portal For Kins Of Terror Attack Victims In J&K

Developed by the Home Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the portal aims to provide a user-friendly, centralized platform for families to access relief and rehabilitation benefits. It allows the kin of victims to apply for ex gratia relief, compassionate appointments under SRO-43 (a Jammu and Kashmir government scheme for the employment of the next of kin), and other financial or administrative assistance. Victims' families can submit applications, upload necessary documents, and track the status of their cases in real time, reducing paperwork and bureaucratic delays. The web portal is designed to ensure transparency and speed in processing claims. It addresses long-standing issues faced by families, such as delays in relief disbursement and a lack of clear communication. The portal's digital infrastructure enables seamless coordination between departments, ensuring faster resolution of cases. Lieutenant Governor Sinha will personally monitor the progress of cases to ensure timely redressal. The portal is part of a broader effort to provide structured support to victims' families, addressing both immediate financial needs and long-term rehabilitation, including job opportunities for the next of kin. It is accessible to all eligible families across the Union Territory. The platform is managed by the Home Department and NIC, with user guides available to assist applicants. Earlier, on July 1, LG Sinha chaired a high-level meeting and directed authorities to reopen cases that had been deliberately buried, including those where FIRs were not registered or were marked as 'untraced.' A high-level committee was formed to investigate such cases. In addition, the administration is identifying and restoring properties of terror victims that were encroached upon by terrorists or their sympathisers. Toll-free and district-level helplines have also been established to record grievances. The portal and associated measures build on LG Sinha's earlier efforts, such as the appointment of 40 next of kin of terror victims to government jobs, and form part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure justice, economic stability, and dignity for terror-affected families in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indus Waters Treaty termination will benefit J&K, have far-reaching impact on Pakistan: LG Manoj Sinha

SRINAGAR: After the United States designated the militant outfit The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha made a strong statement on Saturday. TRF was behind the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. He said there are still a few elements in the region who "speak the language of TRF." He also asserted that terminating the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) is a befitting response to Pakistan and would have far-reaching consequences, as the country heavily depends on the Indus river system. 'India's water will now flow within India and remain in India. With the termination of IWT, we now have full control over the Jhelum and Chenab rivers,' LG Sinha said at a function in Jammu. He also said that the termination of IWT would benefit J&K immensely, which will be able to harness its real hydro power potential. 'The barren areas of Jammu can be irrigated and there will be new momentum in the development of infrastructure in J&K.' India suspended IWT with Pakistan after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 25 tourists and a local pony wala were killed. "India will now create infrastructure, power plants and diversion to new areas with proper infrastructure to use the water and it will enable construction of new reservoirs," he added.

Amarnath Yatra crosses 2 lakh mark, LG Manoj Sinha welcomes devotees with 'Har Har Mahadev'

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 13 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced on Sunday that the ongoing Amarnath Yatra has surpassed the 2-lakh mark, with devotees continuing to throng the holy cave shrine. In a post on X, LG Sinha expressed his joy, stating, 'With Baba Amarnath Ji's blessings, the holy pilgrimage has crossed the 2 lakh mark today. This is a sacred journey of a lifetime, and I welcome all the devotees to discover and experience the divinity. Har Har Mahadev!' The 38-day annual Amarnath pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir began on July 3 and will conclude on August 9. The pilgrimage is taking place simultaneously via both the Pahalgam route (Anantnag district) and the Baltal route (Ganderbal district). Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave, where devotees pay homage to an ice stalagmite believed to be the lingam of Lord Shiva. The ice stalagmite forms every year during the summer months and reaches its maximum size in July and August, when thousands of Hindu devotees make an annual pilgrimage to the cave. The Indian Army has launched 'Operation SHIVA 2025' in close coordination with the Civil Administration and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the Amarnath Yatra. This annual high-tempo operation aims to provide a robust security architecture along both the Northern and Southern Yatra routes, particularly in light of the heightened threat from Pakistan-backed proxies in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. As part of this year's enhanced security framework, over 8,500 troops have been deployed, supported by a wide array of technological and operational resources. A dynamic counter-terrorism grid, prophylactic security deployment, and corridor protection measures have been instituted. Comprehensive assistance to civil authorities is also being provided, particularly in disaster management and emergency response. The Indian Army's efforts include the installation of a Counter-UAS grid with more than 50 C-UAS and EW systems each to neutralise drone threats. 'Regular UAV missions and live monitoring of Yatra routes and the Holy Cave. Engineer task forces for bridge construction, track widening, and disaster mitigation,' an official release read. The Indian Army has arranged more than 150 doctors and medical personnel, with two Advanced Dressing Stations, nine Medical Aid Posts, a 100-bed hospital, and 26 oxygen booths supported by 2,00,000 litres of oxygen. J-K LG Manoj Sinha hands out 40 appointment letters to victims of terrorism, assures justice

Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 13 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday distributed 40 appointment letters to the victims of terrorism. The distribution event took place in Baramulla, where the LG interacted with the next of kin (NoKs) of victims and assured that the government remained committed to supporting all victims of terrorism through jobs, compensation, and inquiry-based redressing. Speaking to mediapersons after the event, he said, 'Those who are eligible will be given government jobs. Those who have not been given any financial assistance will be provided with it. In cases where an FIR was not lodged or the property was confiscated, an FIR will be lodged, an inquiry will be conducted, and the property will be returned to them.' He further added, 'Today, 40 appointment letters have been distributed. A helpline number has been launched, and I request all those who have been victims of terror attacks to send their application on that number, and an inquiry will be conducted.' On July 7, he accused Pakistan of trying to disturb the peace and prosperity of the Union Territory and said that some people are unhappy with Jammu and Kashmir's development. While speaking at an event in Anantnag, LG Sinha said, 'Our neighbour, Pakistan, which gave birth to terrorism, is trying to destroy the peace and prosperity of J&K. Some people are unhappy with Jammu and Kashmir's development. Some are outsiders, but there are some insiders as well.' Sinha attended the Annual Hawan held on the occasion of the Harbah celebration at Teerthraj Sidhlakshmi Peeth Trust in Anantnag. He appreciated the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces, saying that they were working hard to ensure peace in the region. 'There is a need to unite the whole society, whether they are outsiders or insiders, to create awareness in the society against them,' he later added. (ANI)
