Everyone gets a chance to lead Leadership at Dulwich College (Singapore) is inclusive and designed so that every child has a chance to grow. More than 250 Junior School students take up leadership roles each year–that's more than a quarter of the student body involved in some capacity! From language and reading to sustainability and community service, the roles cover a variety of interests, encouraging every child to explore their strengths and try something new with the support of teachers and peers. Becoming a student representative at this school is a thrilling experience that nurtures confidence. During Leadership Day, every student participates in a range of activities to learn about various student groups. They reflect on their interests and are encouraged to apply for roles that match their passions. Students are trusted with real responsibilities, such as working with local organisations to turn waste cotton into products they can sell or raising awareness and funds for causes that matter to them. The Annual Leadership Fair celebrates & inspires student role models The school also runs a popular annual Leadership Fair, a vibrant event that celebrates the students' voices and shows how peer mentorship takes many forms. In addition to ambassador roles, every class also elects a representative to the Year Group Student Council, giving students a say in how the school is run and reinforcing the value of democratic participation and peer respect. The outcomes of the programme are both creative and impactful. For example, one Head Student recently took her campaign on kindness to a new level—writing a song, choreographing a dance, and staging a full performance with lighting and production. Her song is now available on Spotify, showing that even at the age of 10, students can carve out their own path with creativity and vision. Nurturing confidence and a strong sense of responsibility By the time students enter Senior School, they are already seasoned mentors. They are comfortable presenting in front of large groups, managing initiatives and guiding their peers. Even students who don't take on formal roles have had chances to take initiative through classroom projects, school events, and assemblies. Leadership at Dulwich College (Singapore) is built into everyday school life, helping children develop confidence, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility. Are you curious to learn more? Clinton High School's culinary team ranks fourth in national culinary competition

CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Clinton High School's culinary team recently ranked among the top 5 in a national culinary competition held in Baltimore, Maryland. Sherman Avenue Elementary's Leadership Day The team comprised of nine students from Clinton High School represented Mississippi in early May. 'To make it to fourth place and get to go up on stage with these amazing sponsors and give the kids to be in the national spotlight was incredible for them,' said Catherine Bruce, Chef Instructor at Clinton High School. It's been a culmination of hard work over the years, climbing from 29th place in 2023, placing 18th in 2024 to this year finishing fourth in the nation. Students prepared a three-course meal in just one hour. Their menu featured staples from the Delta to the Coast, starting off with crab croquettes, serving up Gulf redfish for the entree and to top it off a Mississippi mud cake. In a first for the program, four students competed in the restaurant management competition. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Panama City launches water meter change-out project

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Panama City officials are taking a big step in their efforts to correct faulty water meters and the erroneous water bills customers have been receiving. Hurricane Michael damaged a lot of the water meters. The city had been billing those customers for estimated water use. But they say some of the estimated bills were far too low. So they started sending those residents what they called catch-up bills. Hiland Park Elementary host Leadership Day Last fall some residents received bills for thousands of dollars, which is when the problem surfaced publicly. Panama City officials finally received 500 new water meters and began a water meter 'change-out project' yesterday. They hope to have the first 500 meters exchanged within a month. If you get a new meter, crews will leave a notice on your door knob. No word if there are more to be replaced. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. ‘Bark' phone helps defend children against online predators

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – At any given time, there are 50,000 predators on the internet seeking out children. 500,000 are active each day and each year, one in five children receives an unwanted online sexual solicitation. Hiland Park Elementary host Leadership Day Panama City Beach Police are hoping to educate parents on how to prevent their child from becoming a victim. 'This coming Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., we're hosting our second annual well, I'll say our second seminar this year for Parents Against Predators. It's going to be at Arnold High School. We're going to be teaching parents how to keep their kids safe online,' Panama City Beach Police Chief J.R. Talamantez said. The Bark Company is co-sponsoring the seminar. The company has developed a phone to help parents monitor their child's online activity. 'It is open the box, hand it to your kid, and know right off the bat that that kid is going to have the most effective online safety tools currently in the market available to them,' Talamantez said. Bark cell phones look like normal Android phones, but have pre-installed software that scans text messages, 30+ social media apps, web browsers, emails, and more. If it detects any suspicious activity, it immediately alerts parents. 'Their software and their devices help parents monitor dangerous behavior that their kids might be partaking in online. Whether it's keywords, whether it is dangerous searches on the internet, this software helps parents identify that quickly and in real-time,' Talamantez said. Oldest Baptist church in Florida turns 200 next month Officials say the bark phones and educated parents offer the best defense against online predators. 'We want them to be more aware and more alert, so this conversation that they have with their kid, they'll be a little bit more prepared for it because we're going to teach them about the threat, and we're going to provide them with a solution, if they don't have one already, on how to introduce technology to their kid,' Talamantez said. Officers plan to engage a predator online during the seminar. For more information, click here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
