Our Yorkshire Farm's Reuben Owen 'doesn't want a career in TV' as he opens up on leaving farm

Our Yorkshire Farm star Reuben Owen has opened up about his future on TV as he admitted he doesn't want a career in the industry and doesn't have time for social media Our Yorkshire Farm's Reuben Owen has cast his gaze towards the future, revealing that a career in television isn't quite his cup of tea. The young star gained recognition alongside his family on the Channel 4 hit series. ‌ Post-show, Reuben has ventured solo with his own Channel 5 series, Life in the Dales. The recently concluded second series follows him and his mates as he aims to expand his machinery business. ‌ Additionally, Reuben features in Our Farm Next Door with his family, where they breathe new life into a dilapidated farmhouse known as Anty John's. ‌ Yet, speaking to the Telegraph, Reuben shared insights into his aspirations beyond the small screen. While he enjoys sharing his rural life with viewers, he also expressed a desire to be recognised for his work off-screen, stating, "I want to be known as the guy who digs holes." ‌ He remarked, "I don't have the time or the inclination to scroll through social media," reports the Express. "If you do ever see me on my phone, I'll be searching for machinery sales." Further elaborating on his ambitions, he said: "I don't want a career on television, I want to be known as the guy who digs big holes; my current ambition is to buy a 50-ton excavator. Now that really would be the realisation of a dream." ‌ In the closing moments of Life in the Dales, Reuben hinted at a potential departure from his family's abode at Ravenseat Farm. He revealed: "It's been a hectic time. Three years in business, I'm 21 now. We've got plenty of diggers, plenty of work on, couple of bunch of team and staff on with me, got Jess [his girlfriend] with me, who's an absolute star. "Think the next thing we need to think about is getting somewhere a bit better to keep all these machines, and hopefully somewhere for me to live as well. "That's the dream next. Get myself a yard and a house. We'll have to see what the future holds," he concluded.

Miles reflected on his father Clive Owen's gradual withdrawal from active farming duties, noting the increased need for his own participation at home, reports Devon Live. He detailed his farm responsibilities, "I really enjoyed growing up on the farm. One of my jobs was doing the chickens, collecting the eggs, looking after them, and feeding them. I'm doing more work with the cows and the sheep at the moment," as reported by Gloucestershire Live. Discussing his career objectives, Miles said, "I've talked to Reuben about the digging side and me helping more, getting more involved with his company, which I wouldn't mind at all." Still, he stressed the importance of balance: "But, I've got to balance it, because dad's getting on and he's slowing down a bit." Further illustrating his commitment, he added, "So, I've got to help dad when it's needed and I can't leave him to manage. Then, when Reuben needs it and he gets stuck, I need to go and help him." In a previous episode of Our Farm Next Door, Clive also spoke candidly about stepping back to let his sons take the reins. Acknowledging the march of time, he admitted that age had taken its toll. "The kids grow up and become men. I am getting older, and I am not as strong as I used to be so yeah, it is good that these young guys take over," he expressed with a hint of resignation. Embracing the inevitable transition, Clive said, "It's time to pass on the baton and let them do more and more, and that is how it is." He added with a touch of humour, "I am here to watch over them and annoy them, and we will get there in the end."

Reuben Owen admits Amanda and Clive 'grew apart' as he addresses split

Reuben Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm, has candidly admitted: "I know how it went" as he discussed his parents' separation. Reuben, who shot to fame on Our Yorkshire Farm alongside his parents, Amanda and Clive Owen, and his siblings, now headlines his own show, Life in the Dales. Amanda and Clive, who announced their split in 2022, continue to live and work together at Ravenseat Farm. While the couple has previously discussed their split, Reuben has now given his perspective in a fresh interview. "The media still likes to dig up my parents' separation, making out there was some massive battle when there wasn't," Reuben shared with the Telegraph, reports Leeds Live. "I know how it went, and it was all very amicable. They grew apart and split up, but they are still brilliant parents, whether they're together or not." He continued: "Every now and again, there will be a headline about some little thing that has been blown up out of all proportion. But you can't be on telly and then expect people not to be interested in what you're doing off-screen." In June 2022, Amanda and Clive released a statement regarding their separation; however, in a subsequent appearance on Lorraine, Clive confessed that he "played a massive part" in the split. During the 2023 broadcast, Clive admitted: "It was amazing and successful, I handled it very badly. It was such a change in our life, and I sadly made a right mess of things basically, and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending. "One of the things I hear is 'poor Clive' and I feel that isn't right. We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and the plan, Amanda's plan was we don't own the farm but this is security," he clarified. He further emphasised how fame affected them, stating: "We had this plan to make it more secure as a family so that's what drove her, it was amazing and successful. "I handled it very badly, it was such a change in our life, and I sadly made a right mess of things, and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending, a massive part to play." Not only does Reuben feature in a new series with his family titled Our Farm Next Door, but series two of Life in the Dales will premiere on Tuesday night. The synopsis for the first episode of the series states: "The Our Yorkshire Farm star continues to build his heavy plant machinery business in the Yorkshire Dales. "As summer arrives in the Dales, Reuben prepares land around a stone barn in neighbouring Cumbria, so homeowner John can commence major renovation works. "At a farmer's quarry, Reuben attempts to crush 10,000 tons of stone and building waste, so the spoil can be used to make tracks around the farm."
