Gossip Girl Stars Penn Badgley, Meghann Fahy Roped In For Rom-Com?
Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy will romance each other in the upcoming movie adaptation of Sarah Hogle's novel, You Deserve Each Other.
The Gossip Girl actors are reuniting! Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy are set to join forces, this time as enemies-to-lovers in the upcoming movie adaptation of Sarah Hogle's romance novel, You Deserve Each Other. Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, the ones behind rom-com hits Never Been Kissed and He's Just Not That Into You, will direct the film and are now in the discussion stage over the script.
You Deserve Each Other will be produced under the banner of Fifth Season alongside Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron of Likely Story, as per the Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking about the story, the rom-com will follow Naomi (Meghann Fahy) and Nick (Penn Badgley), who are about to get married for a happy future, only to realise that they have fallen out of love. 'With the wedding rapidly approaching and its pressure mounting, they both resolve to secretly push the other into calling off the wedding using all means at their disposal—pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare," the report continues on the narrative.
While making all the efforts to cancel their wedding and go their separate ways, the couple will fail against destiny's plan, and guess what? They will fall back in love all over again! Written by Sarah Hogle, the original novel was a two-time Goodreads Choice Awards nominee for Best Romance and Best Debut. It was also an Amazon Editors' Pick for Best Romance. The novel was published in 2020.
Further details about You Deserve Each Other's other casting and release date are yet to be disclosed.
Both Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy have been a part of the popular teen drama series Gossip Girl. Badgley was popularly known for portraying the career-defining role of Dan Humphrey, reaching a new level of fame with his performance. He went on to bag another big role with the Netflix hit, You. Among his other film credits are Margin Call, earning an Indie Spirit Award, and Emma Stone's Easy A.
On the other hand, Meghann, who appeared in a guest appearance as Devyn during the third season in 2009, got her breakout role in the second season of The White Lotus. The actress seemingly has a busy year with Christopher Landon's Drop, Netflix's Sirens, and Rebuilding with Josh O'Connor.
