Gossip Girl Stars Penn Badgley, Meghann Fahy Roped In For Rom-Com?
The Gossip Girl actors are reuniting! Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy are set to join forces, this time as enemies-to-lovers in the upcoming movie adaptation of Sarah Hogle's romance novel, You Deserve Each Other. Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, the ones behind rom-com hits Never Been Kissed and He's Just Not That Into You, will direct the film and are now in the discussion stage over the script.
You Deserve Each Other will be produced under the banner of Fifth Season alongside Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron of Likely Story, as per the Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking about the story, the rom-com will follow Naomi (Meghann Fahy) and Nick (Penn Badgley), who are about to get married for a happy future, only to realise that they have fallen out of love. 'With the wedding rapidly approaching and its pressure mounting, they both resolve to secretly push the other into calling off the wedding using all means at their disposal—pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare," the report continues on the narrative.
While making all the efforts to cancel their wedding and go their separate ways, the couple will fail against destiny's plan, and guess what? They will fall back in love all over again! Written by Sarah Hogle, the original novel was a two-time Goodreads Choice Awards nominee for Best Romance and Best Debut. It was also an Amazon Editors' Pick for Best Romance. The novel was published in 2020.
Further details about You Deserve Each Other's other casting and release date are yet to be disclosed.
Both Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy have been a part of the popular teen drama series Gossip Girl. Badgley was popularly known for portraying the career-defining role of Dan Humphrey, reaching a new level of fame with his performance. He went on to bag another big role with the Netflix hit, You. Among his other film credits are Margin Call, earning an Indie Spirit Award, and Emma Stone's Easy A.
On the other hand, Meghann, who appeared in a guest appearance as Devyn during the third season in 2009, got her breakout role in the second season of The White Lotus. The actress seemingly has a busy year with Christopher Landon's Drop, Netflix's Sirens, and Rebuilding with Josh O'Connor.

Squid Game 3, the final season of the popular web series, has become Netflix's biggest-ever OTT release. The South Korean OTT series has gained over 60.1 million views and 368.4 million hours watched in just three days, The Guardian reported. While Squid Game Season 2 had more views (68 million), it took four days. Squid Game Season 3 is already the ninth biggest non-English series ever, with the first two seasons at the top. Although Squid Game has ended with its third season, there are talks that director David Fincher might create an English version. He has worked with Netflix before. The final scene shows a tense moment between The Front Man and a surprise character, an American recruiter played by Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett. This sparked rumours of a US remake. However, sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the ending is not meant to set up a new series right now, and Netflix has not confirmed anything. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk said he didn't plan the ending just for a spin-off even though he would watch Fincher's version if made. Hwang also shared that the ending changed from his original plan, which had the main character Seong Gi-hun alive. He cast Blanchett for her global impact. The creator has hinted at a deeper meaning in the final scene, which he wants viewers to interpret on their own. 'I've always been a big fan of Cate Blanchett, and all of my producers are as well. They really wanted her. As for offering the role to the particular actor, that happened after we began shooting,' Hwang Dong-hyuk told Variety. 'Honestly, I haven't heard officially from Netflix about David Fincher creating a Squid Game. I have heard the rumours, of course, though. He would lead it if it's a new season of the original. But, for a US version, he prefers to share ideas rather than be fully involved.
