Dame Joan Collins has lashed out at the "loutish" users of cycle hire company Lime Bike while strolling through London. The iconic actor took to Instagram with a scathing post after coming face to face with dozens of bicycles that had been dumped and left blocking the pavement. The Dynasty star, looking ever chic at 92, vented her frustration and tagged the bike company in her post. "Shocked about the loutish behaviour of @lime bycicle users. #pavementsareforpedestrians #limebike," she captioned her pic.

Dame Joan Collins furiously lashed out at the 'loutish' users of cycle hire company Lime Bike while strolling through London on Saturday. The iconic actress, 92, took to Instagram with a scathing post after coming face to face with dozens of bicycles that had been dumped and left blocking the pavement. Despite her outrage, Dame Joan still looked chic as ever in a summer hat and shades while letting out her frustrations and tagging the £400M company in her post. She captioned the snap: '#shocked about the #loutish behavior of @lime #bycicle users #pavementsareforpedestrians #limebike'. A gallery of recent images assembled by MailOnline shows how frequently the branded e-bikes have been dumped in locations that make them a menace for pedestrians or a danger to motorists. Lime own and operate most of the estimated 30,000 bikes in London, and tens of thousands of city dwellers are thought to have worked out how to take the bicycles without registering or paying - which is known as 'hacking'. And while the company fines users who park in an unacceptable way, it has no control over hacker riders who face no such disincentive. Introduced as a green and cost-efficient way to get about town they have become a popular mode of transport especially for young Londoners, but have have become a plague for many as they find their way to the shops or pub blocked by a Lime bike. Lime is guarded about disclosing detailed operational information but a spokesperson did insist earlier this year the issue has improved significantly in the last 18-24 months since the number hacked is thought to have peaked at around 1,500 at any time. It comes after Dame Joan shared a rare picture of her daughter Katy as she celebrated her 53rd birthday as she paid tribute to he youngest child on Instagram. She cut a chic figure in the snap of her and her daughter as she wore a white linen hat with tweed blazer and pearl cross necklace. Meanwhile Katy, whose father is Joan's former husband Ron Kass, sported a black beanie hat and a quilted jacket as she beamed alongside her famous mother. Dame Joan also has two older children Tara and Alexander Newly from her first marriage to Anthony Newly. Doctors feared she would not survive and she was left with brain injuries. Aged 41 in 2012 she also suffered a fall in the foyer of her mother's Hollywood apartment block. She broke her eye socket and was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Beverly Hills but went on to make a full recovery. Percy, the longest-lasting of Joan's husbands, is more than 30 years younger than her, a gap she dismisses in interviews with the line: 'If he dies, he dies.' The long-standing couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with a star-studded party at Claridge's last year. Originally from Peru, Percy is a noted Hollywood producer, known primarily for producing Who Wants to be a Millionaire. He is the last man standing in a long-lineup of lovers for Collins, all of whom have been well-documented over the years. Joan's first husband, Maxwell Reed was an Irish actor who she walked down the aisle for in 1956. The pair divorced that same year and Joan moved onto Warren Beatty. The two became engaged in 1960, but his alleged affairs broke them apart. A 1963 marriage to the actor-singer Anthony Newley produced two children and one divorce. She then wed former Beatles manager Ron Kass in 1972 who fathered her daughter Katie. Her fourth marriage was to singer Peter Holm, which lasted three years and resulted in a fall out with her sister Jackie who did not like him. Now however Joan has found the right man and even joked to Jonathan Ross in 2020 that her marriage to Percy had run as long as the previous four marriages combined.

On Thursday afternoon, qualifier Watson was on her bike out of the premises as she lost 6-4 6-2 to former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. After that defeat, she revealed to the media why she was shunning cars, saying: '(Bikes) are my means of transport. 'And it's just been breaking down ever since. Insurance? Biggest scam ever. They just try and rinse you. 'Yeah, disaster. I get discriminated against because I'm an athlete. Lime renews vows with Uber ahead of busy summer season
Lime, the shared scooter and bike company, is getting ready for another busy summer by cozying up to one of its biggest supporters, Uber. The two companies recently signed a new multiyear agreement that allows Uber to continue to feature Lime's shared bikes and scooters on its ridehail app. As part of the deal, Lime's rented bikes and scooters will continue to appear in Uber's app in the markets in which they overlap, including the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The previous agreement was set to expire later this year. 'We're pleased to extend this fruitful relationship into the future so riders can discover and quickly book Lime on the Uber platform,' said Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime, in a statement. 'Working with Uber has allowed us to reach even more people and provide more riders with shared, affordable, emissions-free transportation through one of the largest transportation platforms in the world. This deal further solidifies Lime as the go-to option for two-wheeled travel in cities.' Uber also recently announced that Lime would be included as part of its Uber One subscription members, offering 10 percent cash back on all Lime rides. Uber and Lime first came together during the height of the scooter boom in 2018, with the ridehail giant joining a $335 million round of financing led by Alphabet's venture arm, GV. That was the first time Lime's bikes and scooters became available for rent on Uber's app. During the covid pandemic, Uber threw a crucial lifeline to Lime, investing $170 million in the company in exchange for Lime acquiring Uber's Jump bike and scooter business. Today, Uber holds a 29 percent stake in Lime. And as the pandemic progressed, the deal positioned Lime to pull ahead of many of its struggling rivals. As other companies floundered, Lime scootered past all the mergers and bankruptcies, and now presents itself as the leading shared micromobility company in the world. Earlier this year, the company published its 2024 financial results, in which it touted a fourth consecutive year of over 30 percent growth, second consecutive year of positive free cash flow, and $810 million in gross bookings. And as the summer busy season approaches, Lime is setting its sight on new markets. The company recently launched in Barcelona, and later this year plans on expanding into Mexico. Its also continuing to scale its latest vehicles, the LimeBike and pedal-less LimeGlider, with launches in nearly a dozen cities over the past two months. Of the two new bikes, Lime says it plans to reach a fleet of more than 15,000 deployed vehicles globally in 2025. (The Glider is only available in North America, as the EU requires that throttle-only e-bikes be classified as mopeds.) Lime's bullishness on its business comes as the company recently hit a new record for daily ridership, surpassing 1 million rides in a single day on May 31st — and then again on June 1st. Lime says riders also recently exceeded 10 billion minutes using the platform, across more than 800 million individual trips since Lime's service began in 2017. Lime's decision to continue partnering with Uber comes as the ridehail company's main rival, Lyft, hikes the prices of its main bikeshare service, Citi Bike in New York. Lyft had been exploring a possible sale of Citi Bike, but now says it plans on expanding the service in the outer boroughs later this year. Uber says its deal with Lime helps get it closer to its goal to be a zero-emission platform by 2040. 'Lime has been an impactful partner in our efforts to make transportation easier, more affordable, and more sustainable,' Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, said in a statement. With widespread global use through Uber in over 200 cities, this next chapter is about scaling up together—and giving riders even more ways to get where they're going without owning a car.'
