2026 4-star small forward will take OV to Texas A&M in late August
New Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan has been on a roll this summer after landing 10 players from the transfer portal, and international Spanish star shooter Rubén Domínguez over the past three months. Currently, the Aggies are expected to compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, given the talent and experience on the 2025 roster, despite being a completely new team. On the recruiting trail, McMillan has already made a dent in the 2026 recruiting class and has been much more active compared to former head coach Buzz Williams, who relied on the transfer portal year after year to build each roster. While that worked for the most part, he never truly developed young prospects outside of the program's all-time leading scorer, Wade Taylor IV. While he has yet to land a 2026 commit, the offers, and future visits have continued to flow, including Wednesday's news that 2026 four-star small forward Trent Perry will take an official visit to College Station by the end of the summer during the opening weekend of Texas A&M's 2025 football season on August 29-30. Like Kannon Torres stated above, Perry is one of the better downhill scorers, and his time at the prestigious Link Academy makes him ready to play at the next level due to the elite competition he is already facing. Again, this is just scratching the surface for McMillan and his staff, but it's a solid start nonetheless. According to 247Sports, Perry is currently positioned as the 58th-ranked small forward and the 7th-ranked prospect in Missouri. View more Video Transcript How would you describe your game to somebody who's never watched you play? Advertisement Uh, I'd say. A playmaker Also a scorer though. I can make plays for others, but also score for myself. It's kind of one way I describe it. I mean, I feel like with you, like if I asked an NBA scout that would be like score, bucket getter, and you say playmaker first. Why is that? Uh, yeah, I can score, but I also use my scoring just to make plays cause somebody gotta help and somebody's gonna be open, so I also you just make plays. And I feel like with you, like at Texas, your primary role was to score, but when you watch, you know, Trey Johnson at Link Academy, you see more passing, more creation for others. Advertisement Do you think that's fair to say with like the differential in your role and responsibilities? Yeah, I just felt for that Link Academy team. I had to take his job back from scoring. And just, uh, and just. Facilitate to help help make others better or help make others impact the game because my junior year coming back, I had, I was averaging like 20 something and then go to Lincoln average 15. I wouldn't even shoot the same amount of shots, but I just was going was the best for the team for sure. Who was on that Link academy team with you? LeBaron Falan, Jasper Johnson, Jaylen Shelley, James Brown, Andredala Junior. Advertisement Andre Junior, all these players. Yeah we had TJ, we had a lot of, we had a great guys. Brandon Benjamin, we had a lot of great players. I mean, could be a first round pick or, you know, we'll see if he goes back to Bama as well, but this week at the combine he he actually just announced he's not going back to going back. Hen that. I just saw that. Wow, I mean you got like boogie Fla going to Florida. Florida's news we're like and they hate each other. We like each other at least so far. Maybe in the NBA I might say something critical of you and you'll be like this guy. Nah. It might happen, who knows, but I mean, I love your game then like cause I think with you, like I said, you're clearly a bucket getter. Advertisement You're one of the best shooters in this whole draft class, if not the best with what you do off the dribble, the movement shooting, the way Texas ran you off of movement actions like clearly you're Undeniably an elite 3 point shooter, that goes without saying. But I think the reason why teams have you like likely top 5 pick is because of all the other stuff. It's because of the creation ability and your ability as a passer. And so with you, I, I'm curious, like when you project your game forward. Into the years to come in the NBA. Like, how do you see your role, like, cause so many teams use multiple ball handlers. Advertisement Do you see yourself as one of those guys who's an engine of a team or like someone who's like sharing the rock and playing different roles because of your shooting ability. Uh, I feel like I could either it could go either way. I feel like also being used as a two way more as I get into my career for sure, but just like either way, whatever the team needs to win, it could also just change night to night.

Renn commits to Link Academy
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute North big man Bryce Renn will continue his basketball career at Link Academy. Renn made the announcement on X, as he will attend the boarding school near Branson, Missouri this fall. As Chipotle Nationals nears, Columbus' Cameron Boozer earns another prestigious accolade
As he and his teammates prepare to pursue a national championship in the coming weeks, Columbus' Cameron Boozer has earned another prestigious accolade. Boozer has been named one of three finalists for the 2024-25 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award. Boozer, who is ranked the No. 2 prospect in the country by 247Sports, Rivals and On3, just led Columbus to its fourth consecutive state championship. He averaged 22.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game this season while leading the Explorers to a 27-3 record and a No. 1 national ranking per MaxPreps. Boozer and his brother, Cayden, who is also a top 25 national recruit, both signed with Duke University. Cameron, who continues to rack up the accolades as he prepares to head to the next level, has a chance to become a two-time winner of this award having already claimed the prize after his sophomore season. Boozer is also a 2025 MaxPreps Preseason First Team All-American and maintains a 3.94 unweighted GPA. Cameron and Cayden will both participate in this year's McDonald's All-American Game in Brooklyn on April 1. In addition to Boozer, the other two finalists are Caleb Wilson, a senior power forward from Atlanta, Georgia who has signed with the University of North Carolina. Wilson is the No. 5 recruit in the class of 2025 per Rivals and a fellow McDonald's All-American and MaxPreps Preseason First Team All-American. The other is Brayden Burries, a senior guard from Eastvale, California, who is ranked No. 9 in the class of 2025 per 247 Sports and is also a McDonald's All-American and MaxPreps Preseason Second Team All-American. NATIONAL TITLE? The Boozer brothers will then try to lead Columbus to a national championship at the Chipotle Nationals tournament April 2-5 in Fishers, Indiana. The Explorers are the top seed among the 10 teams in the bracket and will play their first game on April 3 at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. Columbus will face the winner of the matchup between No. 8 seed Bradenton IMG Academy and No. 9 seed Wasatch Academy of Utah, which will be played April 2 at 8 p.m. If they advance to the semifinals, Columbus would play either No. 4 seed Brewster Academy (New Hampshire) or No. 5 seed CIA Bella Vista (CA) on April 4 at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The championship game is scheduled for April 5 at noon and will be televised on ESPN. The rest of the field consists of No. 2 seed Link Academy (Mo.), No. 3 seed Long Island Lutheran (NY), No. 6 seed Prolific Prep (CA), No. 7 seed Montverde Academy and No. 10 seed Dynamic Prep (Tex.). The Explorers' three losses this season came against three of those teams - Prolific Prep, Long Island Lutheran and Link Academy. Columbus avenged the loss to Link Academy later in the season and also defeated Bella Vista, Dynamic Prep, IMG Academy and Montverde Academy. If Columbus finishes the season ranked No. 1 nationally, it stands to become the first Miami-Dade County boys' basketball team to win a national championship. The closest is believed to be Miami High's 1997-98 team, which finished the season ranked No. 2 nationally.
